Can anyone offer advice? Having problems as a first time mum. My 12 week old girls colic has got worse, not better and she's in so much pain. just swapped from gripe water to infacol. Hope that will help. Massage, winding and distraction methods like swinging help a bit. Oddly Gangnam Style seems to work the best! But she can't sleep because of the pain. I am exhausted as also don't get to sleep and am very dizzy. Then she gets overtired so can't sleep because of that. She just cries and cries and its so upsetting. Also she's not put on enough weight in the last 2 weeks - probably not feeding well because of sleep and colic problems. She is very small anyway. We are forming bad habits as the only way I can get her to sleep is on me while feeding, in her swing or whilst swaying her to loud beaty music on her front. If I put her in her basket for her night sleep she'll stay asleep (having fallen asleep on the breast) but not in the day. If I put her in it whilst sleepy she just cries every time I put her back down. She won't take a dummy or finger to suck and the only way to get her to sleep often is feeding. Really want to do EASY but just can't see how it's possible. She is breastfed with a supplement of formula before sleep. She cluster feeds from about 7.00 to 12.00 every night. Struggling to get her to sleep at all in the day. What am I doing wrong?!
My DD had a hard time with Colic when she was tiny, it was awful, so I feel for you & her
Thankfully I have an old friend who works as an alternative therapist specialising in DCs & she told me as DD was EBF to look at my diet & what to avoid - I had already cut out any foods with any chemical additives in them, due to DD having skin problems even earlier - some also affected her stomach & still do even now she's 10.
Cutting out all layered foods - sounds odd I know, but my not eating lettuce, onion, sprouts, leek etc etc & avoiding anything 2 spicy was pretty much an instant cure for DD & the one time I accidentally ate a sandwich with a hidden bit of lettuce - it was back with a vengeance - yes a PITA but more than worth it & you do get used to it pretty quickly
Ooh no I hadn't thought of that and just looked it up - she has some of the symptoms. But I can hear the wind rolling around her system. How can I check if its silent reflux? Do you know what might improve it if its that? Thanks so much! X
