Hi all, I'm new on here so it's nice to meet you .

Just after some info on when your baby slept right through the night? I'm talking 7pm-7am. I have a 10 week old girl who has always been really good at night night and is currently going down at 7ish, wakes at around 2 for 5 ounces and then goes back down until 7. Like I say, it is good and I do feel lucky but I have friends with babies just slightly older who claim their baby went right through from around 8 weeks.

I'm also interested to know if you did anything different to achieve the all nighter or did it just happen?

At about 8 months! Sounds like your 10 week old is doing brilliantly.

6 weeks, and still does at 7 months bar teething/having a cold.

12 weeks here with both of my dc but I think that's quite unusual.

I think our DD was sleeping 11pm-7am at around 8 weeks, then we just gradually pushed the "bath her and put her to bed for the night" time back the way from 11pm until we got to 7pm-7am around 3 or 4 months. That worked better for us than putting her down at 7pm "for the night" which we tried at first, because she was far more restless and would end up going past the 11pm time.

I think 8 weeks is unusual for babies to sleep 7 till 7, so you have lucky friends! Great news that your baby is sleeping so well too.

DD - 14 weeks

Still very different personalities now at 9 and 7 but at least they both sleep well

DS was about 8 weeks old, and SD was the same.

Ds tried to from about 2 weeks I had to wake him to feed him

Can't remember when I "dropped" the 10pm wake-up feed, but I do remember that we had to not discuss his sleeping patterns with friends of ours who were struggling with a non-sleeping child.

In ds' first 2 years, we had one sleepless and one disturbed night's "sleep". I think our friends went over 5 years before they had a full night's sleep (their 2nd child was just as "bad").

We did have a rule about not going in to ds' room (we moved him out of our room when he was 6 months old) until he had been crying for more than 5 minutes - but (with the exception of the two occasions mentioned above) he never did.

Let's just gloss over the time he cried for 5 minutes shortly after being put down, I commented on it being unusual but he stopped just before I went in, so when I went in a couple of hours later I found him lying in a pool of vomit

I never put him down for a nap in his room (used a travel cot or his baby gym for day time naps) so he knew his cot was for sleep. We also made a point of, once he was asleep, not being quiet around him: his room was used for storage and we would quite happily go in there for things and not tiptoe around - even putting the light on if we needed to.

We did used to say that if we had been able to have another one, we'd have to have signs up around the house stating, " Remember , they're all different" as we realised we were lucky

He is now 12 and is still a good sleeper even if he is beginning to develop a bit of teenage stroppiness

My DS slept through 7-7 from about 23 weeks.

From 13 weeks he slept 7-7 with a dream feed at 10pm.

My DS dropped the 10pm feed himself.

Personally, I think bath, milk, stories, bed routine helped my DC's to sleep better but all kids are different.

Oh my god I wish. DTs are 6m old and have just dropped the 4am bottle, as in 2 nights ago, and that after doing controlled crying and weaning them off. Still doing an 11pm bottle - hoping to drop it some time before they go to school.

DD1 9 weeks, DD2 8 weeks, bar teething, and colds.

Both seemed to 'get' night time, and sleeping from birth. Yes, I know we're lucky.

One of my NCT friends, her daughter slept through from birth, and had to be woken up for feeds for the first month. After that they just tried to get as much milk in as possible during the day.

DS 16 months, consistently by 22months.
DD 18 months, at 25 months now she sleeps through about half of the time.

I would add a tired smiley but there isn't one!

Just noticed the last question in your OP. Both DS and SD (not blood related) are on the autistic spectrum so we think it was a combination of being tightly wrapped in blankets and looking at flashy light up mobiles. Those on the spectrum take comfort from being wrapped tightly in blankets and seek sensory comfort from flashing lights similar to the mobiles used which we think helped them to sleep so quickly. A lot of babies on the spectrum are unusually quiet and non-fussy too which probably contributed to it, and they probably thrived a lot more than NT kids at being in bedtime routines.

They made up for being good sleepers in a lot more ways though!

Ds1 - 15 months. Ds2 (6 months) was fed 4 times last night during the period you mention.

Both mine were 12 weeks . One was premature so really only 6 weeks I guess . I gf them from birth though.

DD1- 6months

DD2 - 6 weeks, but was then a shocking sleeper from 6 months to 2 years.

Much preferred the way DD1 did it!

Depends if sleeping through counts as when they do it regularly or if they have done it.

It's been a long time coming.

Dd1 - 2 months (honestly)

Dd2 - 36 months (again honestly )

Dd3 - not quite there at 21 months.

Did nothing differently - dd1 was obviously a blip in my non sleeping children. Oh and all mine were formula fed.

Ds1 - 15 months old
Ds2 - slept 7-7 for ten weeks between 8wks and 18wks old, then not again until he was 17months old. I was gutted...

I forget, either 4 or 6 .... years

Mine sleep well now, aged 13 and 11 !
