12 mo waking up screaming

My 12 mo DD has woken up screaming and shouting the past couple of nights, and won't settle. It's taking me around 30-40 minutes to calm her down and get her back to sleep each time. Has anyone else had this, or know what's causing it?

My 14mo started doing this a couple of weeks back and to cut a long story short, I figured out that she was waking up cold! I bought her a thicker sleep suit and she's slept through ever since. Could it be this? Or maybe waking up hot? With the cold weather the temperature has been up and down in my house.

This exact thing happened to me. I also think it might have been cold. He wears a vest and socks in bed now and a thick bag. It was the same he was screaming and shouting like mad and totally unsettle-able. I left him to cry it out which to be honest I think is the only way (for me, my son is v willful, totally understand if its not something you are into). WE left him ten mins, My DH went in, gave him a bit of water and a cuddle then we left him and he cried for 25 mins. He has slept through the last few nights now and am hoping it will stick.

I think me not going in was a good thing because he was desperate for a cuddle with me. Do you have a partner who could go in and settle instead?
