13 mth old would rather throw food than eat!!

pleae help. My dd likes her food but fusses and plays and throws her food around, or trys to feed the dog! I try to encourage her but she throws a wobbley! Im just worried that she isnt getting enough food down her! Is this normal?

That is perfectly normal. Please do not stress as she will get worse. Just ignore it and take the food away if she starts playing too much. A bit of food playing should give her an interest in food and will encourage her to eat propertly when she was older. My DD (19 months) was the same and now she is trying to eat with a knife and fork after managing a spoon at an early age. it is a messy phase but just try and breath deeply.

My 10m dd loves throwing her food around - we have a dog too and he doubles as a great hoover.

Ah yes! Dog is great hoover! But he is cheeky and trys to 'beg' her for the food and she thinks its great fun! So we have started to shut him out the room (less ditraction) then he comes in to clean up! if nothing else at least it has saved on the dog food! ha,ha :o

My 16m ds loves throwing anything and everything(including food), and just to get him to eat his food, we have to give him crayons etc which he always throws, not just on the floor, but also, at whoever is in the room!

yep totally normal... ds is 18m now and still loves throwing everyting, incl. food ... I call it discovering gravity

No dog to hoover it up though so it's me cleaning it up. Or ds if he gets to it first.

my 13mo the same, as is dog. we lock dog out as you do. Also she tips plate up so I have two plates and give her about 5 bits of pasta at a time and it seems to hold more interest for her than a lot at a time. she eats about 4/5. hth
