am getting really fed up with the backchat, stroppyness and general attitude my five year old DD has at the moment. On several occasions today i have asked her to do things or to not do things and she just repeats what i have just said to her in a silly voice or says IM SO BORED. She was rude to her grandparents tonight and then got hysterical when i told her off and slapped her hand. (i hate doing that by the way - but i really felt pushed to the limit this evening). I have threatened her with a smack on several occasions recently (but not followed through as i think smacking is last resort) and her reaction is don't care or won't hurt. SHe is nice most of the time but 20% of the time shes a git! Does anyone else have this? It shocks me that a 5 yr old acts like a flipping teenager. In fact i think her ambition IS to be a teenager as she seems obsessed with games where we have to pretend to be teenagers with new names!

Shes a red haired gemini as well but i doubt that has anything to do with it!

sorry geraldine,i have a 3 year old teenager, she also repeats what i say when i'm telling her off and we fight every morning about what the madam wants to wear, the only thing that works at the moment is me threatening to tell her teacher and that she won't give her any stickersgood luck

whymummy - i shall try that sticker threat as DD loves stickers. Sounds like yours and my DD have a lot in common, we have daily rows over flipping clothes especially school uniforms and the latest is if her socks don;t look right she goes mad and says she'll look like an alien

harman ds is like that too,he's 5,apparently is to do with being very sensitive kids, there was a thread about it, i can't remember the title tho

sensitive is an understatement! DD is very "girly" but loves a really good hard rough and tumble fight with DH and they REALLY go for it!

thread very interesting - do you think we are trying too hard? i have had holidays where we have arranged the days around her and she acts up and it made us feel she was ungrateful. Holidays used to mean fun now they are a chore. I am going to try some of the ideas on the thread.

sorry, just meant sympathy for you having to put up with it.

But of course being a red haired gemini at least she must be absolutely gorgeous?
