Losing a Tooth question - Any Dentists out there?

I've just noticed that my son (age 6) has 2 teeth emerging lower front. However, they appear to be growing behing his milk teeth, which are not loose at the moment. Is this normal or do I to take him to see a dentist?

not a dentist, but this happened to dd, also at a young age. We took her to the dentist, and were told it is quite normal. As the second teeth grow more, they push out the milk teath. Sometimes when this happens the milk teeth need to be pulled out (happened to dh), but with dd they came out all on their own. And the new teeth and very straight, and all in the right place.

Very common and chances are they will sort themselves out without intervention.

So far all my ds1's and 2's teeth have come through like this!!! DS! also still has one milktooth inplace above an upper tooth- he refuses to wiggle it! The dentist said that it was not a problem...it just looks horrible...like a fang!!!
All i would say is to be extra careful with brushing as the new teeth are often subject to increased plaque as it gets trapped- need to keep those ne tothie pegs white!!!

Thank you for this - it has put my mind at rest - I was imagining all sorts of dentistry work having to take.

ds lost his top front tooth and right behind it a fang like tooth started growing he had an x-ray and he has 3 extra teeth, the fang and two more to come out,his front tooth has not come out yet and it's been months since he lost it,the dentist said to wait till everything comes out but i'm worried that by then they'll be all on top of each other, very weird!
