When did you move your DC from babygros to pyjamas?

DD is quite a little 13 month old and up til now has been in babygros to sleep, but recently she's worked out how to draw her feet up in them and poke them out of the poppers! Once she's done it she can't get her feet back in and gets totally stressed out - usually at about 3 in the morning!

So I was thinking about moving her in to pyjamas but I'm worried her feet will get cold at night. Do your pyjama-clad babies wear socks at night? Or are they fine with bare feet? What is the standard age for moving into pjs?

Probably a stupid question but she is my first so I feel like I'm making it up as I go along most of the time!

Hmmm a few weeks old as they are easier than fiddly poppers, however mine were in sleeping bags so had toasty feet!

Can you not put socks on, those gaps ones that stay up well?

you can get pjs with feet if that's what you want my lot never kept socks on so not an option here, they were always fine.

Our pound shop often has thick slipper socks in stock, they seem to stay on better than normal socks. We use them for wearing under wellies too.

Ooh, those hungry caterpillar pjs are nice. Might have to get down to Asda for a bit of a shopping trip.

She's got some good Next socks with a deep turnover bit that stay on her feet nicely. I just felt a bit funny at putting her to bed in socks - my mum never let us wear socks in bed but I don't know what the thinking behind it was! Just a weird hang-up from childhood.

Pyjamas with feet seem to be the next step for us then! Cheers Ninja!

At about 6 months. I got totally fed up with all those blooming poppers! I did put socks on DS if it was a particularly cold night but other than that he slept very well bare-footed. He was in a sleeping bag until he was nearly 3 though so no risk of kicking covers off.

At about 12 months. Then I got longish socks and tucked the ankles of the PJs I to the socks to keep them on.

I kept DS in sleepsuits for aaages because he is a demon for kicking off the bedclothes and getting cold. He is now out of them completely because he is now toilet trained so not a good idea any more. He had PJs as well though - depending on the ambient temperature, I would put him in either shorty PJs, long PJs or a sleepsuit. So, the last time he would have worn a sleepsuit would have been age 3.6. Can't remember when exactly I introduced PJs, but probably just before he was 2 (first summer in Australia).

DS (14 months) just started wearing pyjamas, because I was fed up with all of the poppers on sleepsuits, and because he was slipping on the wooden floor when he came downstairs in the morning.

I wasn't sure about socks either, so I put him in them for the 1st couple of nights. I don't bother now (he does wear a sleeping bag though).

The only downside is that I've already bought lots of sleepsuits up to the age of 2, oops.

About a year I think, DS had big feet and his toes were always curled up in sleepsuits. He also decided shortly afterwards that he liked his feet being cold at night and refused to entertain anything with feet on, socks or even a blanket.

I kept buying them and being disappointed!

About 3yo. But at 4 she still has some all in one sleepsuits with zips.

Mine went into pyjamas at about a year - never had a problem with cold feet affecting sleep. Unless they had to come into our bed for some reason and put those cold feet on me!

I've used a mixture of pjs and sleepsuits since DD was 6mo. When it is particularly cold I use the sleepsuits or pjs with feet, and when warmer the pjs without feet - she would kick socks off anyway!

Fleecy sleepsuits with zips, no poppers, until about his second birthday when he stopped wearing nappies and so pyjamas had to happen in order for him to get in and out alone if he needed the loo.

once mine were crawling and pulling to stand etc they went into pj's as they seemed better for that stage. so that was from 6mths-10mths depending on which child and for dd who is just 11mths i put socks on her, but the boys were all in grobags so i didnt bother (dd will still only sleep swaddled, so she is swaddled in a sheet and then has blankets and wriggles a lot so needs socks when its cold)

Somehow pjs seem so grown up. DD still looks like a proper baby when she is curled up in her babygro having her milk before bedtime

dd did half and half from 8 months (when a friend bought her some lovely PJs) til about 21 months when she started point blank to refuse to wear anything with feet

I won't be putting mine in pj's until they are toilet training, totally depends on the child and parental preference :)

DS at about 6 months when he started pulling up and slipping on the floors. He's in a sleeping bag too so no cold feet at night but I do put socks on him in the mornings when he gets up (good balance now so no slipping worries)

I've just started putting DS (14mo) in real pyjamas as got fed up with trying to do up poppers on writhing-squid like child. Pj's much quicker to get on and can do it while he wriggles/sits up/rolls over/runs off /eats his discarded dinner off the kitchen floor etc.

My lo has always had a mix between pj's and babygro's. He's 2 now and still wears a mix. When he was around 12-18 months I had some PJ's which had feet in them too - tigger etc on them which were quite nice. But even those without feet, I never noticed a problem with cold feet and sleeping. For the winter months, Primark do the very best fleecy all in one's that zip up rather than have poppers. They're cheap and have washed extremely well. My lo is wearing one of those tonight :)

My DS has just turned two and has been in PJs over the summer. Now the weather is colder (and he always kicks off his covers) I dug out some old babygros that still fitted him. I put one on him which he found pretty funny "My a baby" he said . Put him to bed only for him to come wandering in to our room in the early hours with only his nappy on

We're back to PJs now!

My DS has been in pyjamas since about 6 weeks old...but now I feel bad as everyone else has left it so much later! He's such a hot baby though so I think it helps to keep him cool if he's got his feet out. I put him in pyjamas with feet if it is particularly cold. I love him in pj's, he looks so adorable!
