Because I caught her drawing on the table with a crayon so I told her to go and sit on the sofa. Then she told DS to get off the sofa to which I said "No, the sofa is for everyone" she replied "No it's only one and I'm the only one allowed on it" So I told her if she didn't stop being cheeky she wouldn't be allowed on the sofa. She then shouted "BUT YOU ARE THE ONE WHO TOLD ME TO SIT ON HERE!!"

"You silly idiot."

She's not wrong really!!
Oh I love her when she's just home from school!

I get called an idiot on a regular basis I'm afraid. I try to ignore it.

What happens at school that turns them so bad-tempered?

dd1 (reception at school) got in the car this morning and told me that she'd do her seat belt up if 'someone' ie her sister hadn't brought so many bloody toys in the car....

My 3-year old called me a "Fattist" and when questioned said it was "because you're being bossy". 3-years old and already knows about fascism - can't work out if I was furious or impressed by her precociousness!

DS turns into a monster after school, well only after he has had a good time running around in the big playground.

Then as we walk along, anything sets him off. He calls me a 'stupid idiot', if I don't respond he will just shout 'ARGHHHHHHHH' until everyone looks at him. Don't you just love picking them up after school after missing them all day

After both us and nursery telling DD that we don't call people stupid, this is all we ever get. And not just limited to stupid. If anyone - us, other people, visitors, TV, etc say stupid, naughty, idiot, etc all we hear is "we don't say stupid, it isn't a nice thing to say. Maybe she's silly instead mummy."

My son (Reception) has picked up the following since starting school
Idiot
I'm gonna get yer (not to me - yet..)
I'm in charge
You are a stinky tar (what?!?)

Makes me laugh (behind his back of course)though I do find myself saying 'It's YOU not yer ' which I thought I'd never do!

If dd calls people "stupid" I make her sit down and think of 3 nice things to say about them. Seems to work.

She has started shouting "oh, go away" at the telephone when it rings. Wonder where she got that from?
