Whats the earliest a baby has crawled?

Mine tried at 4 months + a few days. He didn't get very far though. But he started getting around a lot by 7 months (not by classical crawling but by pulling himself along on his front using his arms, which he could do at speed).

My friend's baby crawled at 6 months and walked at 10 months. Very unusual - normally they are 8-9 months for crawling and 12 months + for walking

DD never crawled just started walking at 7/8 months...I think if she had been mobile at 4.5 months I would have cried!

My dd2 crawled at 6 months, and was alarmingly speedy from the start. I was rather surprised because I'd read somewhere that it was impossible to crawl before sitting unaided, and I didn't see her sit until about 8 months. She just seemed uninterested in sitting and very interested in crawling.

ds2 crawled at 7 months and walked at 8, I was so disappointed, he was my last baby and I felt that he grew up far too quickly.

Ds2 was crawling around commando style (tummy on floor) at six months and moving very fast. He crawled properly at seven months and then walked alone just before 10 months. I tell you , you really do NOT want a baby walking at ten months. He is now nearly a year and climbs everything. He falls off everything too .. we have had some spectacular bangs. Blood this morning before breakfast when he fell over and smashed his teeth into his bottom lip.

Dd crawled at 6 months, but at 4 months she would already roll the length of the room to get at something she wanted. So I never had that nice time when you could prop them up surounded by pillows an let them play. She walked and talked at 11 months. And as we speak she is upstairs in her bedroom having the most massive tantrum at the age of 6. Sigh!

My little brother crawled at 5.5 months, but didn't bother walking until over a year.

Ds however was much more laid back (thankfully) and crawled at 9/10 months and has only just started walking properly at 14 months.

Maybe he's just trying to scare you!

Our DD didn't crawl for ages and ages at 8 and half months. She just wasn't interested. She was sat unaided by 17 weeks and cruising with our support at 5 months, and with furniture at 6 and a hlaf months. She finally walked on her own at 10 months.

DD walked at 9.5 months andshe was so small for her age - people used to give her funny looks- she is still so advanced and speak to me like she is a teenager - DP's best friend has child which does not crawl at 14 months - they think this is great because she is not much work!!

Both my boys crawled at 6 months and walked at 11. Bl**dy nightmare! Neither ever did that lovely sitting and playing stage - both crawled before they could sit unaided.

I have a lovely plump (not fat...) sitting sedentary 6 month old baby - you can borrow him if you want to show yours what sedentary looks like He likes nothing better than to sit surrounded by all his toys and slowly throw them out of reach! Takes a good 20 minutes That's 20 mins on mumsnet Do I sound horribly smug?

my dd is almost 1 and not crawling - she does drag herself around using her arms and digging toes in - we have had months of sitting unaided playing with toys and throwing them out of her activity nest - then sliding over the sides of the nest and around the room.

Codswallop - when Dd started walking at 10 months she looked so tiny to be doing it. She never did that tottering bit either. She took an uniaded step by accident moving between furniture, stopped still, looks confused, then laughed and clapped and did it again. Fro that minute she just walked, and then ran!

ds2 crawled at just 24 weeks and has walked beautifully since 10 months old. Amazing the amounts of comments about how he looks too tiny to be doing it (crwaling and walking). On a (very) positive note I have not had the problem with ds2 regarding early frustration and tantrums due to not being able to get to what he wants. At least he can get to what and where he wants and while you have to have eyes at the back of your head, it is gratifying to think they can amuse themselves so early on. ds1 went through a two/three month stage of crying and bad temperdedness because he couldn't quite work out how to get to where he wanted to go, and that in itself causes different problems.

Rejoice that your child is obviously doing well!
