Pie base made with nuts, fruit - anyone?

I recently spent some time in Australia and noticed that a lot of their dessert pie bases were not pastry like we generally use, but made from nuts, dates and dried fruit. They were yummy! I tried one made with nuts and dates filled with set condensed milk. I think a lot of what I tried was vegetarian. I did ask the ingredients, but was only able to grab the above info. I also scouted a few book stores but couldn't find any baking books with relevant recipes.

Anyone seen any bases/ recipes like this?

I think this is the type of thing they use. They did say they use coconut oil, macadamia/cashews.

I'm just on Pinterest and I pinned this one too. I am not a vegetarian, but after having sweets like this, I'll never make anything with a pastry base again. They were fantastic. We spend 3 nights eating at a vegan/ veg restaurant and I feel like I've been on a detox!
