what do you think of the name Brodie for a boy? as brother to Riley and Laila? thanks smile)

MrsWolowitz Wed 30-Oct-13 17:58:56

Police Chief Brody was the first thing that came to mind.

It sounds very American. I don't really like it but its not awful, just not my cup of brew

Sparklysilversequins Wed 30-Oct-13 18:02:07

I like it but reminds me of Brody Jenner, reality show star.

PinkParsnips Wed 30-Oct-13 18:14:10

I like it! It makes me think of an Australian surfer type!

I really like it. Considered it for my ds. The lady in the bed opposite me in hospital when I had him called her son Brodie, but she was Scottish and the way she pronounced it was beautiful. I didn't think it had the same charm said in our West Country accent! grin

UriGHOULer Wed 30-Oct-13 20:04:34

I like it.

Leeds2 Wed 30-Oct-13 21:01:20

Wouldn't be my choice. But I don't think it is completely outlandish, and if you like it, then go for it!

LostMarbles99 Wed 30-Oct-13 21:34:50

Homeland fan!

creepypenisreaper Wed 30-Oct-13 21:37:06

Lovely name, it sounds Scottish (maybe because of Brodie Country Fayre?)

yellowsnownoteatwillyou Wed 30-Oct-13 21:38:14

It means 2nd son, I know a few but not babies, all from about 5 to 11.
Not my choice but a nice name.

Im not keen. Sorry

prettybird Wed 30-Oct-13 22:10:28

I like it. But maybe that's got something to do with knowing two very nice Brodies. I'm in Scotland. smile

ProphetOfDoom Wed 30-Oct-13 22:11:26

prettybird Wed 30-Oct-13 22:11:33

(One teenager and the other in his early 40s, I think)

AgathaPinchBottom Wed 30-Oct-13 22:45:33

I know the best, kindest, handsomest guy ever called Brodie. He has the best soul of anyone I've ever known. I think it's a fantastic name!

BeeBawBabbity Wed 30-Oct-13 22:47:31

I think it's a girl's name. I'm scottish. I do really like it though.

ScoutJemAndBoooooooooooo Wed 30-Oct-13 23:18:06

I know a few Scottish boys with this name, very nice.

kissmyshineymetalass Wed 30-Oct-13 23:22:19

The only Brodie I've met was female

Isthisstormcomingorwhat Wed 30-Oct-13 23:28:02

I don't like it, sorry. Too American sounding, like Brody Jenner

funnyossity Wed 30-Oct-13 23:29:22

I know a boy. It's nice I think!

KateCroydon Thu 31-Oct-13 07:57:09

I like it, but I have a definite crush on Damien Lewis, who plays Sgt Brodie in Homeland.

Littlecherublegs Thu 31-Oct-13 08:10:32

First thought was Homeland too!

It's not a name I would choose but it's nice enough and goes with your other DCs names.

callamia Thu 31-Oct-13 08:16:39

I like it.
But Brodie and Riley make me think of the lightning seeds (not a bad thing).

InkleWinkle Thu 31-Oct-13 08:20:39

It's a Scottish name.

I know 3 boys, all under 7 called this. I think it's a nice name.

theladylovescupcakes Thu 31-Oct-13 08:23:59

It's my son's name. There's a Brodie Castle about 60 miles away from me. I have heard of it being used for girls and boys, although I've only met one or two same named boys and no girls. Nice Scottish name.

MoreBoober Thu 31-Oct-13 08:24:49

My DS is Brody so I obviously love it. Am Scottish but spelt it with a y on the end. I'm regularly complimented on his name and it just suits him so well. Struggling with what to call his soon to be here sister though! shock

Featherbag Thu 31-Oct-13 08:25:49

Reminds me of Mallrats. Good film, that!

GrandstandingBlueTit Thu 31-Oct-13 08:26:32

Not to my taste, but it goes well with your other names.

I know of a 4YO girl Brodie.

I like it. But if I were to use it, I'd use it as a girls name, named after my teen punk idol, Brody Amrmstrong!

TwoTearsInABucket Thu 31-Oct-13 08:28:43

feather that's exactly what I was going to say! I even put Brodie on my list after watching mall rats smile

cheesypastaplease Thu 31-Oct-13 09:05:34

I like it, I think it's more scottish than anything.

rileylaila5 Thu 31-Oct-13 18:07:33

thanks everyone smile) x

ScoutJemAndBoooooooooooo Thu 31-Oct-13 18:33:27

Call his soon to be sister Iona, that goes well with Brody.

Rosencrantz Thu 31-Oct-13 23:08:26

It matches your other DCs names very well!

MoreBoober Thu 31-Oct-13 23:11:33

Thanks Scout that's actually one of the names I really like just trying to convince DH grin

Tikkamasala Thu 31-Oct-13 23:26:14

Brodie with an ie I think of Brodie from the Kate Atkinson books, with a Y I would think homeland though it did not occur to me until others said it. It is a good name I think

Fifibluebell Fri 01-Nov-13 08:22:40

Brody Jenner reality star who is very very dreamy to look at! wink
