All girls names we like seem to be ruled out by having already been used in our gigantic family. Our other DD is Alice.

I like Orla as I'm Irish but living in the UK.
My DH likes Miranda best.
Lucy is our compromise name.

What do you think? Running out of time...

onetiredmummy Tue 29-Oct-13 13:51:10

Miranda then Lucy

Orla as a middle name

Littlecherublegs Tue 29-Oct-13 13:58:14

I like Orla as a name best but actually think Lucy goes best with Alice.

How about Lucy Orla Miranda???!

Idespair Tue 29-Oct-13 13:59:20

Lucy and Alice go well together.

Allalonenow Tue 29-Oct-13 13:59:57

Miranda is beautiful.
Lucy is pretty.

Thurlow Tue 29-Oct-13 14:02:12

Orla.

UriGHOULer Tue 29-Oct-13 14:16:35

Lucy.

SpottedDickandCustard Tue 29-Oct-13 14:17:50

Miranda. Love it!

NadiaWadia Tue 29-Oct-13 14:26:28

Miranda and Lucy are both lovely names. I don't like Orla particularly, if you want an Irish name there are much prettier ones like, say, Saoirse.

SugarMiceInTheRain Tue 29-Oct-13 14:37:20

I like Orla best but agree that Lucy goes better with Alice. How about Lucy Orla?

isitme1 Tue 29-Oct-13 14:42:03

Miranda
Just coz I love miranda hart lol

bundaberg Tue 29-Oct-13 14:42:36

Miranda

Charotte31 Tue 29-Oct-13 14:43:58

Orla

cavell Tue 29-Oct-13 14:49:17

I like all of your names. I think Lucy sounds best.

I like Lucy best.

elcranko Tue 29-Oct-13 15:42:24

Orla.

grizzabellia Tue 29-Oct-13 16:03:05

Orla. Lucy is a bit dull. Miranda is just too frilly!

Saminthemiddle Tue 29-Oct-13 16:05:08

Orla

Saminthemiddle Tue 29-Oct-13 16:05:50

Orla, then Lucy, I think Miranda will date.

FixItUpChappie Tue 29-Oct-13 16:28:46

I've always been very fond of the name Miranda. Orla would be my second choice.

williaminajetfighter Tue 29-Oct-13 16:30:03

Orla lovely. Ditto Miranda. Lucy is a bit dullsville.

squoosh Tue 29-Oct-13 17:09:47

Lucy - very pretty
Orla - a bit boring
Miranda - don't like this at all

LynetteScavo Tue 29-Oct-13 17:12:30

I would go for Miranda.

A friend of mine has a DD called Orla...I always kick myself I didn't think of it first.

Lucy....a bit too close to loo seat for me.

ScoutJemAndBoooooooooooo Wed 30-Oct-13 07:10:06

Orla, it is beautiful.

Miranda reminds me too much of the gormless sitcom character.

swoopyswoop Wed 30-Oct-13 07:21:34

All lovely! Not helpful... Maybe just narrow it down to two (Orla and Miranda?) and see what she looks like?

Those two names have quite different feels imo you may feel one suits her much better than the other. Then the other could be a middle name?

Orla Miranda is beautiful smile

Willabywallaby Wed 30-Oct-13 07:26:41

I like Orla more than Lucy, but really dislike Miranda HTH

JaxTellerIsAllMine Wed 30-Oct-13 07:37:49

I know lots of lucys born in past year or so, that would rule lucy out for me. Not so keen on Miranda either, so that leaves Orla.

StormyBrid Wed 30-Oct-13 07:40:23

I'd skip Orla as it seems very popular at the moment - of a dozen babies I know born at the same time as mine, two are called Orla, and a third would have been if he hadn't been a boy. I'd go for Lucy, it's a classic (and also she was Aslan's favourite!).

baskingseals Wed 30-Oct-13 07:40:57

I don't think Miranda will date, quite the reverse, I think it is classic, underused and beautiful.

My vote is for Miranda

Beans1977 Sun 03-Nov-13 19:21:59

I vote for Lucy - but I admit bias as I have one! She's 14 months and we haven't met another one yet!

Btw I'm expecting dc#2 and if it's a girl we are thinking Alice! Good luck xx

CountingStars Sun 03-Nov-13 19:47:25

I think Lucy goes better, but also Miranda.

polkadottop Sun 03-Nov-13 20:05:12

Thanks everyone. Overdue and no closer to a decision. I guess we'll just have to see what she looks like!

ThoRAVENomiki Sun 03-Nov-13 20:14:18

Orla Miranda flows nicely as a first and middle name. Miranda makes me think of The Tempest smile

sleepingbeautiful Sun 03-Nov-13 20:39:19

I like Miranda and little girl nn Mimi or Mizzie.
Lucy is a bit 'squeaky' for me, like sickly sweet, but maybe I just met too many annoying ones.
Orla is lovely, but I think Miranda goes better with Alice.

MarthasHarbour Sun 03-Nov-13 21:09:29

Orla Orla Orla Orla Orla..... grin

(how can you tell i love the name - my friend has an Orla and she is an absolute cutie and the name really suits her)

LittleSiouxieSue Mon 04-Nov-13 11:50:46

Do all three!!! Then use the one that suits her personality.

lemonpoppyseed Tue 05-Nov-13 01:08:22

Sorry to throw another name into the mix but you might like Orly; a friend just chose this for her daughter. A nice mix of Orla and Lucy!

happy2help Tue 05-Nov-13 01:45:17

I really like all three - so I'm no help at all!

Beachballfamily Tue 05-Nov-13 11:39:12

Orla. Especially as you're actually Irish!

Coupon Tue 05-Nov-13 12:29:55

Lucy Miranda, or Miranda Lucy.

I don't like Orla, it's a tonguetwister and a bit toothbrushy.

pygmy Tue 05-Nov-13 13:31:25

Lucy! Alice and Lucy are lovely together.

halecromp Tue 05-Nov-13 13:42:22

I am not keen on Miranda but love Lucy and Orla. I think Orla goes best with Alice.

Tikkamasala Tue 05-Nov-13 22:47:46

Definitely Lucy. I also like orla, don't really like Miranda.

WhatTheFoxSays Wed 06-Nov-13 12:55:01

Lucy.

Miranda is okay and as for Orla...hell no!

Marli1980 Sun 10-Nov-13 14:35:39

All are nice esp orla

Wuldric Sun 10-Nov-13 14:39:40

I think you should wait to see your lovely new baby. The name will become apparent then, I reckon.

Orla sounds lovely and elfin and ethereal. But if you have a baby that will clearly not suit that name, then it sort of becomes obvious. With DS, I had definitely decided upon Marcus - it is a name that works in both languages and works because of family connotations - but when I met my tubby bundle of gorgeousness, I realised that such a patrician name just would not ever work for him. Wait and see.

SootikinAndSweep Mon 11-Nov-13 20:46:43

Miranda, then Lucy a long way behind. Orla for me is lumpen and plain.
