PG with dd3. Due in three weeks. Honest opinions wanted!

Charlotte - Long term front runner, maybe going off now slightly

Naomi - Has been in the running with both dd1 and dd2 but always dismissed at the last minute.

Florence - I LOVE. dh is a bit meh. Not sure if it would be considered 'weird' in our local area where made up names seem prevalent and old fashioned names not so much.

Elsa - New front runner. Discovered this the other day. Dh loves. I really like. But dd1 has a 3 letter first name also beginning with an E (think Adams wife with an A) so could be a problem?

playingwithlegos Fri 25-Oct-13 10:12:54

All the names I lovely, I like Charlotte best

iheartshoes Fri 25-Oct-13 10:15:09

All pretty but I really love Charlotte

squoosh Fri 25-Oct-13 10:45:22

The others are ok but nothing special.

DSJamesHathaway Fri 25-Oct-13 10:46:38

Florence is my favourite but they're all nice

riskit4abiskit Fri 25-Oct-13 11:30:57

I like them all, Charlotte has more potential for varied nicknames and is timeless.

TheNumberfaker Fri 25-Oct-13 11:33:33

All fine and lovely. Florence would probably pass yhe Katie Hopkins test as it's Firenze in Italian wink

brightnearly Fri 25-Oct-13 11:46:12

I like them all, particularly Naomi!

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 12:13:06

Glad most of you like them all but no consensus!

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 12:53:12

An unsubtle bump for more opinions!

Littlecherublegs Fri 25-Oct-13 12:55:50

I like Charlotte the best.
Elsa is lovely too though I think it would clash with your other DD's name.
Naomi is ok.
Dislike Florence.

JoJoManon Fri 25-Oct-13 13:18:59

in that order

Purplerain80 Fri 25-Oct-13 13:21:52

Love Charlotte and the nn too, Naomi also love but a bit meh on the others,if that helps smile

peanutMD Fri 25-Oct-13 13:26:24

I'm not keen on any of them tbh.

Charlotte is massively popular in my area.
Naomi is a bit meh.
Florence just sounds pretentious and poncy.
Elsa is old fashioned.

If i had to choose one it'd be Naomi byt of course its not up to me and go by your instinct and pick the nane you love smile

Grumblelion Fri 25-Oct-13 13:33:18

In order of preference
Elsa - think it is possibly a bit too similar to your other DDFlorence - just not keen sorry

jemimastar Fri 25-Oct-13 15:11:14

Elsa is stunning- different, quirky, feminine.

Charlotte is pretty standard and very over used now IMO.

NotYoMomma Fri 25-Oct-13 16:01:53

I think Florence is very 2000/201X and will date sorry

Charlotte I love

CordeliaRose Fri 25-Oct-13 16:17:47

My favourite from your list is Naomi: I love it. I've only met one: she is in her twenties, and gorgeous smile

Charlotte was on our list if DS had been a girl. Still like it but not as much now!

Florence is nice, but I prefer Flora.

I agree that Elsa is too close to your other DD's name.

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 16:31:11

Its a shame about Elsa being too much like dd1's.

We have a PITA surname which has ruled out a lot of names so finding another girls name we both love and will be usable with our surname is ao difficult.

Elsa fitted all the criteria until I realised the problem with dd1's name sad

UriGHOULer Fri 25-Oct-13 16:37:17

So you'll potentially have E*e, Elsa and....?

I think the two E names sound great together and the only problem is if your other dd has a big long flowery name that won't fit. Even then it probably won't bother her.

I say go for Elsa. It's gorgeous.

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 16:40:49

For dd3 think '.. of the d'ubrrvilles'

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 16:41:40

Excuse the typo!

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 16:43:16

Its not Eve its the version with an A at the end

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 19:00:59

NadiaWadia Fri 25-Oct-13 19:17:25

They are all nice except Florence. My favourite is Elsa, but I can see possibly it might cause confusion with your other DD's name. Or maybe not.

Coupon Fri 25-Oct-13 21:05:14

Naomi is a lovely name, a classic but also quite unusual at the moment.

sandberry Fri 25-Oct-13 21:13:21

How about Ailsa, that would go with the other two and sounds similar to Elsa. I think the slight different in sound would stop it being too close to E*a

sonlypuppyfat Fri 25-Oct-13 21:14:26

They are nice but Elsa only for a lion.

Iwaswatchingthat Fri 25-Oct-13 21:16:34

Eva and Elsa are too similar IMO.

Charlotte lovely - three in my dd's class - depends if that would bother you.

Florence -lovely - my fave.

capercaillie Fri 25-Oct-13 21:20:26

Think Elsa goes ok with the other name if begins with A.

I don't like Florence but love Naomi

CityGal29 Fri 25-Oct-13 21:37:53

Love Naomi
Avoid Charlotte extremely common
Elsa ok but not as solid a name as Naomi perhaps?

weaselinthenight Fri 25-Oct-13 21:44:05

Definitely Elsa. Lovely name and I think it goes much better with those of your other daughters than the alternatives.

funnyflowersky Fri 25-Oct-13 21:44:55

I love Naomi, it not that popular and it sounds lovely.

Charlotte makes me yawn it's so boring. Florence and Elsa are too old lady for me.

SatinSandals Fri 25-Oct-13 21:53:32

Charlotte and Naomi are lovely.
Florence OK
Don't like Elsa.

Iwaswatchingthat Fri 25-Oct-13 21:57:58

It is a Charlotte style name, but less popular around me.

thegreylady Fri 25-Oct-13 22:05:28

Have you considered Esme or Elsie?

Mattissy Fri 25-Oct-13 22:06:30

I love Elsa and wanted it for a girl but stupidly called my dog it before I had children, by then I couldn't obviously give it to a daughter, lol. How about

I really like Florence.

Know a gazillion Charlottes.

Naomi, meh! Prefer Niamh, or Neve if you prefer a modern spelling.

thegreylady Fri 25-Oct-13 22:06:52

Eliza is nice too I think.
I like Charlotte and Florence and love Naomi though the only one I know has the unfortunate nickname Nome!

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 22:15:18

Love Niamh but cannot use because of surname.

Same problem with Elsie.

NachoAddict Fri 25-Oct-13 22:19:07

I like Charlotte.
Don't like Florence or Naomi.
Do like Elsa but don't think it goes with your other E name, a bit match-y for me, both starting E and ending A. I do like Elsie though or Alice.

SpottedDickandCustard Fri 25-Oct-13 22:19:53

Love Naomi

Elsa is very nice too.

Florence and Charlotte too twee for me I'm afraid. Plus I don't like the nickname potential. DS has "Flo" and "Charlie" in his class.

comeandgo Fri 25-Oct-13 22:20:28

Can't use Alice because of family.

happy2help Fri 25-Oct-13 22:33:42

Florence is my favourite, but it seems the least popular on this thread.

UriGHOULer Sat 26-Oct-13 07:34:20

I still can't see the problem. Introduce them to the vicar, "This is Eva. And this is Elsa". Sounds fine. Call them in for dinner. "Evaaaa" "Elsaaaa" sounds great. "I have 3 girls." And say all three names, Beautiful names.

Remember they aren't joined at the hip and will be introducing themselves without their siblings in a few years.

thestauntonlick Sat 26-Oct-13 08:10:13

HoggleIsMyFriend Sat 26-Oct-13 08:52:40

I also came on to suggest Ailsa rather than Elsa. It is so pretty but a bit less like your other daughter's name.

comeandgo Sat 26-Oct-13 12:12:36

Ailsa is lovely but it really reminds me of Home and Away <<shows age>>

ForalltheSaints Sat 26-Oct-13 12:14:51

Charlotte I would choose out of your list. Florence is a Magic Roundabout character and what one of my parents cats is called.

killpeppa Sat 26-Oct-13 12:16:29

how beautiful. florriesmile

comeandgo Sat 26-Oct-13 13:19:27

I know, I love both Florrie and Flossie. Not keen on Flo though.

If Charlotte we would use Lottie.

comeandgo Sat 26-Oct-13 16:40:29

Xavielli Sun 27-Oct-13 11:17:25

Naomi is the nicest on your list.

JollyScaryGiant Sun 27-Oct-13 11:20:32

I love Charlotte but we had a family issue.

Our front runners were Rebecca and Bethany.

OnePramAndHisSprog Sun 27-Oct-13 14:52:09

Elsa is lovely but I wouldn't use it with Eva. Naomi is my favourite of the other three. I think Florence is already dating badly, and Charlotte has massively surged in popularity this year so in five years time won't be wearing well.

Love Naomi - am biased. Like Charlotte and Florence. Not fond of Elsa.

Deffo wouldn't do Eva and Elsa together.

comeandgo Sun 27-Oct-13 15:53:27

I am going off Elsa now because of dd1.

I think I may be moving towards Naomi.

Dh still loves Elsa though - which isn't helpful

swoopyswoop Mon 28-Oct-13 07:16:34

Naomi is definitely my fave. Seems more unusual than the others at the mo, yet extremely classic (Biblical) and timeless. Looks and sounds beautiful. Also think it goes extremely well with your DDs name.

Also love Miriam in this vein if you're looking for suggestions!

Fantail Mon 28-Oct-13 08:32:49

Naomi is great. Familiar yet uncommon.

I love your other choices too, but get that Elsa may not work with DD1.

How about Faith, Felicity, Esther?

lljkk Mon 28-Oct-13 09:02:25

Elsa my fave. I don't think E start is a problem unless you have like 6 kids on that theme. I don't like Naomi.

Bakingtins Mon 28-Oct-13 09:05:10

I think Eva and Elsa are too similar.
I have always loved Charlotte, and also like Naomi.
Not keen on Florence.

artyone Mon 28-Oct-13 09:18:03

What about Ailsa? Similar to Elsa but A not E?

Ham69 Mon 28-Oct-13 10:20:43

Love Florence. Agree it's getting popular but such a classic to me and very pretty.
Charlotte is way too popular.
Like Elsa but too similar to your DD.
Naomi ok but potential pronunciation issues.
Have you considered;
Beatrice nn Bea
Harriet nn Hattie
Anna nn Annie
Rose - lots of Rose middle names but fairly unusual as first name I think

Good luck OP

TenthMuse Mon 28-Oct-13 12:56:20

Elsa is a favourite of mine but I agree that it's quite similar to Eva. Naomi would be my second choice - it has a lovely, lilting sound and is familiar without being overly common. Eva and Naomi make a cute sibset I think.

Florence is very 'of the moment' and will date, and Charlotte has been massively overused recently.

comeandgo Mon 28-Oct-13 12:57:28

I love Beatrice but dh is convinced she will just be 'bea' forever and never actually Beatrice.

I also love Hattie but not keen on Harriet.

I find Anna a bit meh.

Rosa is beautiful but can't use any rose name because of surname sad

funnyflowersky Mon 28-Oct-13 19:32:29

I think your DH is right about the Bea.

Naomi goes well with your other DDs names.

comewinewithmoi Mon 28-Oct-13 19:34:18

Elsa - gorgeous also like Elsie fine with your other E dd.

Charlotte, meh as are the others.

comewinewithmoi Mon 28-Oct-13 19:34:55

Sorry Florence nice but don't like flora

comewinewithmoi Mon 28-Oct-13 19:40:30

What about Mabel?

BlackholesAndRevelations Wed 30-Oct-13 08:00:29

Ellen? I don't really think elsa goes with tess either, too many harsh s sounds, and together with Eva they're all a bit matchy, like anagrams!

Sorry. They are all lovely names though.

diddl Wed 30-Oct-13 08:34:35

Like Elsa the best, but maybe not with other daughter's name.

lottiegarbanzo Wed 30-Oct-13 08:36:43

Naomi is lovely but can be mispronounced - Namie, Nomie - and would you pronounce it Nye-o-mi or Nay-o-mi? Emphasis on the o?

Florence lovely but very fashionable now.

Elsa the lion. Old reference i suppose. It is nice really.

comeandgo Wed 30-Oct-13 13:14:57

We would go with Nay - o - mi.

Londongirl84 Wed 30-Oct-13 17:54:01

I love Charlotte- so classic. Elsa is extremely pretty too.

qumquat Thu 31-Oct-13 14:09:22

"Meet my daughters: Eva, Tess, and Elsa". Sounds perfect to me!

AmIGoingMad Thu 31-Oct-13 15:54:25

Naomi is my favourite- it was very nearly dd name!

Also like Charlotte nn Charlie or Lottie.

fruitpastille Thu 31-Oct-13 16:48:31

I like Elsa. What about Esme or Isla as alternatives?
