Wilbur, Asa and Caspar are all fabulous!

Luurve Torin; Idris is good too.

derektheladyhamster Tue 08-Oct-13 13:18:38

Love Wilbur, beware of Phineas, due to the popular cartoon series (although I'd love Phineas, the cartoon character, as a son grin)

PinkGlove Tue 08-Oct-13 13:21:13

Love Caspar and Jude. Torin growing on me.

Casper Jude ... perfect.

PinkGlove Tue 08-Oct-13 13:22:21

grin

You would think the names I like are dull/boring grin

<wails>

But I caaaaaaaaannnnnnnnt

derektheladyhamster Tue 08-Oct-13 13:30:42

Use Rufus. Please. You love it and who cares that another boy has the same name.

HeirToTheIronThrone Tue 08-Oct-13 13:40:18

Caspar, Skye and Arlo go really well.

sleepcrisis Tue 08-Oct-13 14:06:06

I know exactly how you feel, Frigg. A distant - but close - friend has just used my girls name and I just can't bring myself to use it. Like yours, it is not very common so I just couldn't get away with it. I'm devastated!

We have v similar taste in boys names. From your list I love Caspar, Pip, Idris, Asa (Ace - great nn) and Wilbur. I also have on my list Otis and Rudy. Oh and Herbert (herbie or bertie).

Floggingmolly Tue 08-Oct-13 14:09:18

Oisín or Jude.

UriGHOULer Tue 08-Oct-13 14:12:09

Oh gosh. It has to be Taliesin. I LOVE that name.

Tally for when he's a baby up to a little schoolboy
Then Supercool Tal for when he's a teenager.

Commiserations SleepCrisis flowers

Otis is cool,I Adore Rudy, but, stupidly,we used it on the cat!

Talliesin is lovely...cool NN's too... Middle names?

looki Tue 08-Oct-13 14:28:33

I LOVE Asa, have no idea of its origin etc but its a great name.

What about Tate?

It is pretty cool....I can't seem to find a middle name I love that goes with it though...

NutritiousAndDelicious Tue 08-Oct-13 17:32:11

Wilbur Jude (love nn Bertie)

Talliesin Jude (love tally and tal as pp suggested)

Casper Torin (nn cass?)

Caip Tue 08-Oct-13 17:37:58

Asa Rudy?

kelda Tue 08-Oct-13 17:39:22

Idris is lovely.

Kip means chicken in dutch.

Caip Tue 08-Oct-13 17:40:40

I second Caspar Jude too

Maryz Tue 08-Oct-13 17:47:49

You need to go back to the R names.

Use Rohan. Not the Indian Row-Han, but the Irish Row-un (with the emphasis on the first syllable) but spelled Rohan. It means Red, so is the same as Rufus.

Rohan Caspar is good. And you could call him Ro (which you could make to sound like Ru) for short.

I don't like Rohan. Reminds me of LOTR

Maryz Tue 08-Oct-13 18:00:11

Oh, well, see if I care.

<sulks>

grin

You do know your only alternative is to use Rufus and leave the family, don't you?

sleepcrisis Tue 08-Oct-13 18:11:16

Why don't you call him Asa Rufus? Then if you really regret not using rufus you can change your mind! I know loads of people go go by their middle names, some decided as an adult but I know two who's parents just decided to switch them round when they were babies.

TeaAndCakeOrDeath Tue 08-Oct-13 18:16:34

I know this will be of very little use in helping you decide but I had to post to say I LOVE Sorren wonders if I can talk DP into DC3

Digby?

FortyFacedFuckers Tue 08-Oct-13 20:28:35

I love Torin, Asa and Jude

I love your DDs names to. You have great name taste and for what it's worth I didn't see your other thread but i don't like Rufus I much prefer the others grin

FortyFacedFuckers Tue 08-Oct-13 20:29:13

Sorry other DCs not DDs

Thankyou grin

FTRsMammy Tue 08-Oct-13 20:40:44

Torin is lovely, as Is Taliesen smile

kelda Tue 08-Oct-13 20:43:13

I know a boy called Roman.

dimdommilpot Tue 08-Oct-13 20:49:54

If dc2 is a boy he will be Asa Jude or Arlo Jude (i think) so Asa gets my vote as you have an Arlo.

Ham69 Tue 08-Oct-13 20:57:08

I love Caspar, Wilbur and Taliesen and think they go really well with your other DC.
Not keen on Kip but love Kit.

Skye, Arlo and Kit.

maishoffwcingras Tue 08-Oct-13 22:35:03

Caspar - not keen
Oisin - love
Pip - really like but more of a nickname
Errol - cute
Torin - no
Idris- love
Asa - not for me
Jude - like
Wilbur (Bertie) - cute
Phineas - no
Emery - no
Oswin - no
Kip - yes
Taliesin - ok but bit of a mouthful
Sorren - no, makes me think of malt loaf sorry

favourites are: Oisin, Idris & Wilbur

Rotterwallah Tue 08-Oct-13 22:42:24

Doesn't Soren only have one r?

I think Caspar goes best with your others if that's a consideration

BadCopNoDonut Tue 08-Oct-13 22:48:27

Digby or Jude.

Or Digby Jude.

There, done!

WeightyKaty Tue 08-Oct-13 22:51:41

Idtris and Asa are on my list smile

sparklechops Tue 08-Oct-13 22:57:59

Love Jude. It goes really well with your other DC's names.

baskingseals Tue 08-Oct-13 23:02:52

What about Jocelyn?

Joss is very cool.

LillyNotOfTheValley Wed 09-Oct-13 00:33:18

1- Soren (with only one "r", Scandinavian spelling), unusual and strong. Soren Jude is great imo.
2- Caspar with mn Oisin (am biased but same comment). DH has Kaz as a nn, finds it pretty cool. He used to go by Zak when a lot younger and fun
3- Phineas, you could use Finn also that way. (Skye, Arlo and Finn sound great together).

LillyNotOfTheValley Wed 09-Oct-13 00:54:04

*Light bulb moment OP after reading your other thread*: why do not you use Caspar and find a mn starting with "U" (easier said than done, I know). You would get your "Ru" that way! smile

emmyloo2 Wed 09-Oct-13 08:09:06

Not having read your other thread, please use Rufus! It's truly fabulous.

But if you can't: I love Errol, Wilbur and Jude. Someone also mentioned Otis which is fantastic. I love these types of names and would have named my son something along these lines but for DH and his boring taste.

Caspar is also nice...

pygmy Wed 09-Oct-13 09:12:07

Phineas nn Finn. For sure.

EasyCompadre Wed 09-Oct-13 09:49:53

It's got to be either Caspar Jude or Taliesin Caspar... Wonderful names, you have great taste!

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee Wed 09-Oct-13 09:55:39

For the love of all things fluffy. You can use Rufus. Once you have this baby and stop being a hormal mess you will see that is it Not A Problem and regret not using it. Those of us who aren't about to drop speak sense. Use Rufus. <<< Bloody hell, another sentence I never though would cross my lips keypad.

BlueStarsAtNight Wed 09-Oct-13 11:45:59

I love Otis and Jude, and like Caspar. I think you should add Rex to the list, Skye, Arlo and Rex sound fab! (and he'd end up being Rexy-roo.....then roo smile )

BlueStarsAtNight Wed 09-Oct-13 11:50:11

I love Otis and Jude, and like Caspar. I think you should add Rex to the list, Skye, Arlo and Rex sound fab! (and he'd end up being Rexy-roo.....then roo smile )

Or what about Rory or Rodri if you like R names?

Finn. Milo.

BlueStarsAtNight Wed 09-Oct-13 11:54:43

Ooh my first double post!

PTphonehome Wed 09-Oct-13 12:01:16

Love the above suggestion of Otis, goes well with your other children's names.
from your list Caspar would be my choice.

Hmmm Rex....Rex...

Skye Arlo and Rex... Hmmmm

DP says no to Rex.

<pulls out hair>

perfectmummy Wed 09-Oct-13 12:22:52

I have a Caspar who was very nearly a Jude!
Love both. my Caspar is 3 now and we still got nice comments about his name all the time. I think both names suit the same person (if that makes sense). my son would match either

anythingforaquietnight Wed 09-Oct-13 12:23:06

Linus?

I love Caspar,but I don't like Cas...

Not keen on Linus.

Rufus Caspar was just perfect <sigh>

sleepcrisis Wed 09-Oct-13 13:50:26

You really have to use Rufus as a middle name. You are definitely going to regret not using it and that will be your back up in 6 months time when you wish you had used it.

I know...you're all right,I will regret using it.

maybe I should just Suck It Up and feign ignorance...

bouncingbelle Wed 09-Oct-13 16:48:31

Jude, Soren and Kip are all amazingly cool smile

Astralabe Fri 11-Oct-13 20:54:56

Oh god - sorry - they are all a bit middle class try hard here (bristol..)

kelda Sat 12-Oct-13 07:16:34

there are plenty of middle-class try-hards in Bristol...

and I repeat, Kip means chicken in Dutch. There are loads of dutch-speakers in the UK who will snigger every time they hear the 'name'.

mathanxiety Sat 12-Oct-13 07:38:09

Caspar -- ok
Oisin -- nice
Pip -- not as a name in itself, would have to be short for Philip.
Errol -- no good with Arlo - too similar and hard to shout together.
Torin -- madey uppey sounding.
Idris -- too unisex imo.
Asa -- nice but maybe too close to Arlo? Both short names beginning with A and ending with vowel...
Jude -- Like a lot.
Wilbur (Bertie) -- pig in Charlotte's Web.
Phineas - OK, but looks as if you're trying too hard to find an original version of Finn.
(Finn would be very nice otoh)
Emery -- Emery board..
Oswin -- Reminds me too much of Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances. And also Oswald Moseley. Double whammy there.
Kip -- Means nap. And chicken in Dutch.
(Kit is nice, as nn for Christopher)
Taliesin -- Way OTT, esp with a double barreled surname.
Sorren -- nice spelled with only one R (Soren). Sorren looks too much like 'Sorry'.

So I guess I only really like Jude, with Phineas and Caspar tying for third.

I like Finn and Kit (Christopher) as alternatives.

mathanxiety Sat 12-Oct-13 07:38:25

And Oisin too.

Inertia Sat 12-Oct-13 16:01:17

Love Taliesin, we seriously considered using this if we'd had a boy.

Sorren makes me think of Soren Lorenson from Charlie and LOL.

Why no Rufus if you love it?

CordeliaRose Tue 15-Oct-13 01:10:02

I think Caspar Torin goes well (but have no nn suggestion other than Cas which you've said you don't like ).
Asa Pip, Jude Caspar and Taliesin Kip (nn Tal?) are good combinations imho.

If you like Rufus and Rudy would you consider Reuben/Ruben nn Ru?
Or Raphael/Rafael nn Raff or Raffa?
Arlo is a fab name - I'll just throw in another suggestion - what about Woody thlgrin
As in Woody (Woodrow) Guthrie, father of Arlo.....
<Emboldened by your approval of my suggestions on your other thread>

nooka Tue 15-Oct-13 08:51:11

You must use Idris, and then watch Ivor the Engine with him. Fabulous!

I like Pip for Philip but not as a name in it's own right, it's very unsubstantial. Kip even more so, and I know a child called Kip (to me it is a bit of a wtf name). Kit for Christopher is lovely though.

Can't really see how Wilbur goes to Bertie, but then I don't like Bertie very much! Feels very twee to me.

Jude is pretty cool. I don't like Oswin, but what about Edwin?

Reuben is a bit too popular for us,but is a lovely name,Raphael is nice, but not really our style, love Raffy though grin

Woody is perhaps a step too far wink

I like Caspar Torrin a lot
Asa Pip is pretty cool too.

DP has now vetoed Taliesin git
