I love the name Tabitha but can't decide if it sounds ok with 'Taylor'. What do you think? Oh and Please don't tell me it's a cat's name - it isn't! wink

StormyBrid Mon 07-Oct-13 08:22:36

Flows quite nicely, to my ear.

Emmabombemma Mon 07-Oct-13 08:26:15

Aw thanks Stormy smile x

valiumredhead Mon 07-Oct-13 08:26:26

Oh yes, had a very nice ring to it.

Emmabombemma Mon 07-Oct-13 08:28:32

Thanks Valium smile think I'm just doubting myself - it feels like such a huge and responsible decision!

daughterofafarmer Mon 07-Oct-13 08:35:21

Tabitha Taylor, QC; Tabitha Taylor, wedding planner and florist; Tabitha Taylor's new single hits no 1....

Anri Mon 07-Oct-13 08:48:28

Yes, I think so! The alliteration works really well.

valiumredhead Mon 07-Oct-13 09:01:59

Unless it gets shortened to Tabby/Tab -in which case Tabby Taylor doesn't sound so great.

DitsyDonkey Mon 07-Oct-13 10:11:38

Oh lovely I do love a bit of alliteration!

PinkGlove Mon 07-Oct-13 10:12:29

Love Tabitha. Yes it sounds great.

daughterofafarmer Mon 07-Oct-13 10:22:16

I do love a little bit of alliteration! Annoyingly DH won't hear of it.

Writerwannabe83 Mon 07-Oct-13 10:35:28

I think it sounds lovely!!

I wanted to call my cat Tabitha but hubby said no sad

I asked him that if we had a baby girl could we call her Tabitha??
He said no to that too! Grr!

Tabitha Taylor is beautiful, I would love to have that name smile

tunnocksteacake Mon 07-Oct-13 10:36:35

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Emmabombemma Mon 07-Oct-13 10:39:42

Thanks everyone smile . I'll have to make sure she keeps her own sur name if marrying a pilkington-smyth!

Will it sound really shit then if people shorten it to tabbie or tabs? I won't but I'm guessing kids at school will.

Emmabombemma Mon 07-Oct-13 12:34:17

Hmmm silence. You can be honest with me...

KatyPutTheCuttleOn Mon 07-Oct-13 12:39:16

Sounds good to me. I've never met a cat called Tabitha Taylor either.

stacysmom Mon 07-Oct-13 12:43:00

But then I have a Tabitha too, so I might be biased! wink

Squeakygate Mon 07-Oct-13 12:59:57

I dont normally like first and surnames beginning with the same letter at all but it's not too bad.

Coupon Mon 07-Oct-13 19:51:20

I don't really like alliterative names so not keen, sorry.

Alisvolatpropiis Mon 07-Oct-13 19:53:07

I think it sounds great. One of instances in which alliteration sounds really good.

Bowlersarm Mon 07-Oct-13 19:54:36

It's lovely.

You have to be prepared for Tab/Tabby from her mates though. Just in case. It may not happen, but if it does you have absolutely no control.

Love a bit of alliteration! Love Tabitha too, sadly DP doesn't angry

I would spell it Tabetha. Just putting it out there. Find it a bit softer for some reason.

I think the NNs Tab/Tabs/Tabby are one of the best things about the name!

Emmabombemma Mon 07-Oct-13 20:26:26

Thanks everyone. I know you can't please everyone when it comes to names but I really appreciate your honesty and feedback. Think we might go for it smile x

elcranko Mon 07-Oct-13 22:24:10

Really like it, sounds great!

boardingschoolbaby Mon 07-Oct-13 22:31:09

I know a tabby Taylor and she is fab. I've always thought it was a lovely flowing name.

BoreOfWhabylon Mon 07-Oct-13 22:35:30

Love it. Just make sure any middle name doesn't begin with 'I'.

SaucyJack Mon 07-Oct-13 22:35:57

Very glam!

Ham69 Mon 07-Oct-13 23:25:00

Fab. Love the full name and NN, both flow beautifully.
Agree with Bore though. Don't call her Tabitha Isobel, Tabitha Isla, etc. grin

Doinmummy Mon 07-Oct-13 23:30:04

Yes , def think about what her initials will be.

My DD is ARS!!

Unexpected Mon 07-Oct-13 23:34:16

Have just googled and there is an "actress" called Tabitha Taylor. Not sure your daughter would particularly want to be associated with her but she'll have retired (or deflated) by the time your dd is old enough to be googling her own name!

Emmabombemma Mon 07-Oct-13 23:36:31

Ha ha bore that made me laugh grin. We are thinking of Jane or Rose for a middle name x

BoreOfWhabylon Tue 08-Oct-13 00:13:06

Good choices! grin

BettyBi0 Tue 08-Oct-13 05:41:21

I love the name Tabitha and think it sounds great with your surname when said in full. However there was a girl at my school whose initials were TT and everyone called her Titty or Tits for short.

So make sure she has a great middle initial too!

stacysmom Tue 08-Oct-13 17:54:58

Are you me?! Our Tabitha has one of those middle names and it's a great name to say when disciplining!

Emmabombemma Tue 08-Oct-13 18:06:14

Ha ha staceysmum I did think that when I was saying the names in my head!

TiffanyAtBreakfast Wed 16-Oct-13 16:29:26

Tabitha Taylor.
Tabby Taylor
Tabs Taylor.

All really lovely and roll off the tongue smile

As a side - We're not seriously TTC yet but I stupidly told my parents I liked Tabitha and my DDad turned up his nose immediately which has spoilt it for me lol

Lesson learnt!

TiffanyAtBreakfast Wed 16-Oct-13 16:30:42

Thinking about it, you might not want an 'A' middle name either unless you don't mind her being TAT! wink

Emmabombemma Fri 18-Oct-13 07:36:42

Thanks Tiffany. Yes we're avoiding A and I initials! ;-)

We've not told anyone about our names (both boys and girls as we are team yellow) in case someone puts us off. Once we've done it they will all just have to get bloody used to it won't they! Ha.
