Ooh positive comments so far - thank you! Due in a few days and been struggling with boys names but think this could be the one!

squoosh Sat 14-Sep-13 15:45:24

It's very Enid Blyton.

melliebobs Sat 14-Sep-13 15:50:13

Ooooo like this!

DSJamesHathaway Sat 14-Sep-13 15:59:22

Good name, not massively well used, not massively unusual. I know 4 (50ish x 2 and 4 ish x 2)who are all lovely.

Jemimapuddleduk Sat 14-Sep-13 19:44:39

Gorgeous, DH wouldn't let us have this on the list.

Frontdoorstep Sat 14-Sep-13 19:52:33

Like this for either a boy or a girl.

I've got a Robin! He's awesome! 3.5 now!

We chose the name while pregnant, my Mum wasn't keen but now concedes it's perfect!

Oldandcobwebby Mon 16-Sep-13 16:51:38

Really nice name. It has a wholesome, Enid Blyton feel to it.

UriGeller Mon 16-Sep-13 16:55:50

Sorry, its always sounded a bit fey to me. A bit wimpy. Nice on a shy 5 year old boy but can't see it on a grown up.

Sockywockydoodah Mon 16-Sep-13 16:56:56

I have a 6.5mo Robin. I love it. Is he your first?

I agree that it's a wholesome name - that's why I like it!

Sockywockydoodah Mon 16-Sep-13 16:59:18

I think it will sound fine on a grown up. He can also easily use Rob if he wants to.

KatoPotato Mon 16-Sep-13 17:03:21

We based it on the adult Robins we knew, my old senior Lecturer at Uni, DH's friend who is now a Doctor and fantastic set designer and artistic director.

I do get some asking if it's spelled 'with a Y?' but they are mostly idiots...

Andcake Mon 16-Sep-13 17:05:52

Brilliant name - although strangely the 2 fab Robin's I have known have had red hair and been born around Christmas.

KatoPotato Mon 16-Sep-13 17:07:23

Mines was born in January... and he only looks ahem, red of hair in some lights!!

SoonToBeSix Mon 16-Sep-13 17:14:56

I would think girl

peppapigmustdie Mon 16-Sep-13 23:29:16

I have a Robyn, if she had been a boy then Robin was my first choice, to me it sounds like a friendly name. It has lots of nn potential too, mine is sometimes a Rob, Robbie, Bobby, Bobs.

LeoandBoosmum Tue 17-Sep-13 04:02:38

I love Robin (spelt that way for a boy or a girl), especially coming up to winter...makes me thing of beautiful little Robin Redbreasts smile
