Sorry for another post, hopefully my last one. We've finally come up with a girl's name we both really like, please tell me you like it. Just need some reassurance smile Of course, do say if you don't like it and why. Thanks!

What is it? smile

Bowlersarm Wed 04-Sep-13 22:02:09

That's one way not to get negative feedback...

Aww, my comment still stands.

undecidedstill Wed 04-Sep-13 22:02:16

LOL, it's been a long day! grin

Great name. My niece Imogen is always called Immy. Would that matter?

Like it a lot smile

undecidedstill Wed 04-Sep-13 22:04:43

Aw thanks guys. Not quite sure what we would shorten it to. Read somewhere that you can shorten it to Ginny as well, which I like - although Immy is quite nice too

Thurlow Wed 04-Sep-13 22:04:46

It's lovely, a really gorgeous name - familiar but not very common at the moment

Floggingmolly Wed 04-Sep-13 22:06:15

You won't shorten it; other people will.

Beautiful name. Love Immy as a nn

undecidedstill Wed 04-Sep-13 22:16:50

Thank you, I do feel happy now about our choice, yay! I imagine she will be called Immy, although my two year old will probably come up with an interesting nick name for her as well, as I can't imagine he will be able to pronounce Imogen, bless him

Taffeta Wed 04-Sep-13 22:22:23

I know 2 Imogens. They are both divine! One is 18 and called Ims, the other is 3 and called Immy.

peanutMD Wed 04-Sep-13 22:23:05

My friends youngest is Imogen, her 2 year old sister calls her Imjim grin

I like it.

Inneedoftea Wed 04-Sep-13 22:23:07

Oh a lovely name. It's always one of my favourites.

StackOfOranges Wed 04-Sep-13 22:24:52

My dd1 is Imogen. Nn Gingin as that is what she called herself when Learning to speak. We love it x

stardusttwinkle Wed 04-Sep-13 22:45:19

We have an Imogen - she is 6 and lights up our world. We still love her name and so glad we chose it. she was very nearly a Erin but she definately is an Imogen. It is uncommon but not too unusual. An excellent choice!

looki Wed 04-Sep-13 22:57:56

I like it, but there seems to be a lot of Mumsnet mums with one?

LeoandBoosmum Wed 04-Sep-13 23:03:53

big yes smile

Frangepani Thu 05-Sep-13 01:20:14

I love it smile

Allalonenow Thu 05-Sep-13 01:50:05

It's a lovely name, one of my favourites.

Lutrine Thu 05-Sep-13 07:59:22

Lovely name, I really like it.

TiredyCustards Thu 05-Sep-13 08:01:54

It's lovely.

I worked with an Imogen who was known as Imo

undecidedstill Thu 05-Sep-13 09:35:35

Thank you so much for your lovely comments! Think I can definitely change my nickname to 'decided' now smile Nice to hear what nicknames your Imogens have too. x

SugarMeFingers Thu 05-Sep-13 13:12:27

I have an Imogen too, nn's- Imy, Midge, Imo & Moo, she answers to all of them! Beautiful name! Congratulations

spacegirl81 Thu 05-Sep-13 13:18:23

Lovely name smile

undecidedstill Thu 05-Sep-13 13:27:10

thank you! smile I'm a bit upset because I've just learned she would be sharing a name incl surname with a certain 'model' who's existence I was blissfully unaware of until now. Does that mean I can't use it for our little girl? Feel gutted as I was so happy we found something we both really love sad

Frangepani Thu 05-Sep-13 13:33:54

I wouldn't let that influence you - had never heard of that model till I googled just now. Focus on the fact that you both love it - and think of all the positive associations with the name that have been mentioned on here!

thegreylady Thu 05-Sep-13 13:49:42

I love Imogen and my cousin has a beautiful 2 year old named Imogen Rose.It is a Shakespearean name. They shorten it to Ginny except for her uncle who insists on Immy.

NadiaWadia Thu 05-Sep-13 18:45:34

Imogen is a lovely name. And I'm sure nobody will remember this model (whoever she is) is 5 years time. She is just one insignificant and untypical Imogen. I would associate it more with the Shakespeare character and maybe the actress Imogen Stubbs.

To let this put you off using the name you both love would be daft.

orangepudding Thu 05-Sep-13 18:49:13

I think it's a lovely name.

undecidedstill Thu 05-Sep-13 20:34:15

thank you all, and you're quite right Frange and Nadia, it would be silly not to go with it for that reason. Certainly people wouldn't dream of making fun of a little girl because she happens to share a name with someone like that. Besides which I can't face trying to come up with another name yet again at such short notice.

Frangepani Thu 05-Sep-13 21:09:03

Phew! wink
