Sister for James and Isabella

Hi there, so had my 21 week scan today and it's a girl! I was CONVINCED it was a boy but it's not it's a girl (it's a girl!).

Okay so over the shock now... so here's the question, what is James' and Isabella's little sister called?
I need a name that isn't as popular as my first two choices, which is as lovely as Isabella (because I love it), can't have an 'r' in middle, such as Zara as surname begins with R and then it sounds a bit rarara.

Here's two of my contenders:
Georgia (has r in middle but isn't final consonant so works okay)
Poppy (cute but maybe not classic enough?)

DH likes:
Sophie (already taken)
Chloe (meh for me)
Emily (too popular) because he wants to call her Lemony!

Oh yeah and the surname is actually one syllable and begins with 'Ro' so like names that contain an 'o' but this is not completely necessary.

Help!

hawkmcqueen Wed 04-Sep-13 20:39:16

Oh yes and middle name will most and likely be Catheine after MIL.

hawkmcqueen Wed 04-Sep-13 20:39:36

Catherine!

My immediate thought was Catherine! A name beginning with C or K seems to fit.

hawkmcqueen Wed 04-Sep-13 20:49:21

Thanks lastnight I do really like Sophia, I would be pushing it though, my friend's daughter is called Sophie and my SIL's sister is Sophia. Damn.

I love all your names but it's just so annoying that my friends decided to use them! Lucy, Anna and Alice gone.

Do you guys like Susanna?

Dancealot Wed 04-Sep-13 21:33:31

Love Susannah, though probably influenced by the fact that the 2 I have known are both beautiful. Also it's very sweet shortened to Susie.

Other suggestions:
Imogen
Rebecca
Miranda
Charlotte (nn Lottie)

Gosh thank you so much everyone, I love so many of your suggestions! I am going to print the thread and make a great long list. I am also going to force my DH to read it!

Not to get too gushy but I really love this board and all the people who take their time to make suggestions and help each other out - it's really nice :-)))))

Apologies for resurrecting my own thread but I couldn't find it and had to scroll through loads of pages! I've now got 3 weeks to go and still no name chosen so I want to be able to refer to your suggestions when baby comes. I think I need to see her face, her name changes every day (literally).

I was going to say Gabrielle but i guess the "r" rules it out?

Vivienne

Thanks again everyone I definitely have name obsession fatigue. Your suggestions are definitely along my lines of thinking. I will post an update in mid January when she is with us and has been bestowed with her name!

Just wondered if you have decided?? I'm having our daughter tomorrow & we already have a daughter called Isabella but can't decide on a name for our baby - even now!... Love the name James too so we have similar taste - it's so hard to decide isn't it!

Mintyy Wed 15-Jan-14 11:22:34

Florence or Flora

hawkmcqueen Wed 15-Jan-14 12:13:08

Hiya so glad to see ideas still flowing as it's my due date today but baby staying put for now!!! So pinkglitter no we haven't made a decision yet! Please let me know what you decide, at this rate you will be meeting your DD before I do :-)

seasalt Wed 15-Jan-14 12:17:12

Felecity

seasalt Wed 15-Jan-14 12:18:08

Or Felicity (don't know what has happened my spelling today!)

florascotia Wed 15-Jan-14 12:21:48

If you want Scottish, as earlier poster suggested, what about Fenella? Or Ailsa, Rowena, Davina?

Or how does an 'ss' sound go with your surname, such as Vanessa, Melissa, Clarissa etc?

hawkmcqueen Wed 15-Jan-14 13:34:53

Well funnily enough my father was Scottish and my name is Davina so that's quite spooky florascotia! Unless you actually know me lol then it won't be such a surprise :-)

florascotia Wed 15-Jan-14 13:45:27

No, I don't know you.
I mentioned Davina because it was my great-grandmothers name. She was actually christened Davidina (her father's name was David), but that's not easy to say, so she became known as Davina, instead.

I was just trying to follow the three-syllable rhythm of your DD's name 'Isabella' and thinking of Scottish names that matched. I think many other posters have done the same thing, by suggesting names such as Miranda or Susanna.

Best wishes for when the baby arrives.

florascotia Wed 15-Jan-14 13:57:40

Sorry - not got my counting hat on! Should have said 'multi-syllable' not 'three syllable'.....

hawkmcqueen Wed 15-Jan-14 14:32:17

Thanks Florascotia :-) I didn't mean to offend, I didn't really think you knew me and I appreciate your suggestions :-)

pinkglitter2 Wed 15-Jan-14 14:48:41

Well if it helps I can offer you the names we have thought of but unfortunately we can't decide because there isn't a name that stands out like it did with Isabella... They are;

Eliza
Sophia
Sienna

All of the other names are 2 syllables - it's so hard isn't it especially horrible when the due date arrives (mine was yesterday) and we haven't settled on any name!

Puddles1234 Wed 15-Jan-14 14:48:49

I love James and Isabella.

This is our girls name list, it may not be too your tastes but it's is classic nonetheless.

Please let us know what you decide.

Oo forgot to add that we like Isla which is Scottish but we think it may be too similar to Isabella even though it is pronounced differently.

florascotia Wed 15-Jan-14 15:26:55

Dear Hawk - Please! No need to apologise - I wasn't remotely offended!! Very sorry if I gave that impression. As you can see from my silly 'number of syllables' mistake, I am obviously not expressing myself very clearly today.

All the best.

hawkmcqueen Wed 15-Jan-14 19:01:02

Hi puddles yes we would definitely have similar taste, your list is great :-)

I have totally found the same pink glitter that a lot of names are too similar or 'rhymey' with Isabella - such as Emma and Helena. Or too plain/simple! You can't have a DD called Isabella and then have a DD called Ann for example as the styles totally clash.

Charlotte
Megan
Beatrice

pinkglitter2 Thu 16-Jan-14 08:35:30

Absolutely agree about not being too plain! I wouldn't want the new baby to feel they were given a plain name compared to Isabella! Good luck choosing & will keep in touch to see what you decide smile

I've been lurking on this thread as the OP's childrens names are very similar to my older two and wondered if there was any chance you might end up with the same for the 3rd! Several people have suggested it so far...
