2012 Top 100 Baby Names

My daughter is within top 100, but not top 10.
Neither DF or I seem to be on this list, but my spelling is a tad different from the original, so will look again.

My sisters name is in here.

NotYoMomma Mon 12-Aug-13 19:46:24

dd1 is top ten but moving down

I didnt want a top ten name but dh loved it so much. I have dibs on this baby grin

Fairylea Mon 12-Aug-13 19:47:09

My son is in the top 8! I am a bit surprised actually as we genuinely didn't have any idea how popular the name was - or was going to be. Oh well!

My dd has an extremely unusual name and is never in the lists.

Both DSs, bump and I are in the top 100. I don't think DH is.

As I said on another thread, even the most popular names are actually used for so small a proportion of babies (<1%) that in almost all cases a child is more likely to have a classmate with the same birthday as the same name. Shrug.

TwentiethCenturyGirl Mon 12-Aug-13 19:49:35

No, DD is somewhere between 250-300. Her name is not particularly well used but not unusual.

DH and I are well outside the top 100. However we were both top 20 back in the 80's!

TeamEdward Mon 12-Aug-13 19:50:03

DS1 is in top 5, but DH & I don't feature in top 100. DS2 was only of only 8 I think children given his name in his birth year, so it is never likely to ever feature in a list like this!

num3onway Mon 12-Aug-13 19:50:07

My three are all in there highest is 38th tho

hghkjh Mon 12-Aug-13 19:50:39

I'm no. four hundred and something (!) Brand new ds is in the 70s, dd one hundred and seventy something. Dh has a name that loads of people our generation have, but is no. two hundred and something.

BikeRunSki Mon 12-Aug-13 19:51:46

All of us. DD, the youngest at 22 months is least popular, 60 something . DS, nearly 5 is in the teens, 1 place down from the year he was born. DH and I are both in the thirties, both of us have fairly classic names which have never been particularly trendy or otherwise.

turkeyboots Mon 12-Aug-13 19:53:22

DH and DD are in too 100, DS and I are way down in the 1000 pluses.

FootOfOurStairs Mon 12-Aug-13 19:53:38

I'm quite surprised by that list as I spend a lot of time with babies and have never met some of those. None of us -dh, me, dds are top 100, though a diminuative of dd1 is in tge 60s. None of us have remotely unusual names though.

DS is top 10, I'm top 50 and DH isn't on there!

Sirzy Mon 12-Aug-13 19:54:56

DS is number 1, I am number 95 quite suprised really.

Methe Mon 12-Aug-13 19:54:59

12,14,39 and 95. Unoriginal are us!

countingmyblessings Mon 12-Aug-13 19:55:08

Yes I am in the top five dh top ten ds1 bottom 10 & ds2's name is surprisely not there. Thought it was? How accurate is this list?

MummyPig24 Mon 12-Aug-13 19:56:23

Dd is in the top 5, ds is in the top 40. Neither dh or I are in the top 100.

JimbosJetSet Mon 12-Aug-13 19:57:23

DD is in the top 50, but DS, DH nor I feature at all - none of us have unusual names though!

Thurlow Mon 12-Aug-13 19:57:24

DP 16
Me 955 (surprised there are still nearly 40 a year with this name!)
DD 1018

DH and DS1 are in the top 100. DS2, DD and I aren't.

We all have Welsh names though and I imagine that DS2 and DD would be in the top 100 in Wales.

QOD Mon 12-Aug-13 19:58:45

I'm not on it, dd is in the 40's ànd dh not at all. Dh has the most common name in the world for men his age, mine is rare and dd is sort of middling

TeamEdward Mon 12-Aug-13 19:58:46

DS1 is in the top 5
My name is in the top 150
DH is in the top 525
DS2 is in the top 1025

tumbletumble Mon 12-Aug-13 19:59:25

DD is in the top 10 - we knew it was a popular name but loved it
Both DSs between 40 and 50
Neither DH nor I are in the top 100.

Bakingtins Mon 12-Aug-13 19:59:44

Both DS's in the top 100 but not the top 10. Neither DH or I feature but sure we would have been top 100 in the years we were born.

I'm not on there, dh is top 50, ds is top 20 and dd is top 5!!

ChunkyChicken Mon 12-Aug-13 20:03:05

DH, DD & DS have both first & middle names in top 100, although DH's middle name is the winner, & in the top 10. Neither of my names are there though, although I would imagine my first name would be in the top 200.

Strangely enough, both DD & DS's first names are roughly as popular as each other (60s) without it being deliberate/contrived to be that way iyswim.

MrsOakenshield Mon 12-Aug-13 20:03:10

DD is top 20. Neither DH or I are on there, doubt you'd get anyone under 35 with my name, maybe 30 for DH. My name very fashionable in the 60s, DH's not top 10 but not unusual.

Mintyy Mon 12-Aug-13 20:04:44

My children have just about the most common names it is possible to have atm (although I named them 12 and 9 years ago).

Dh and I have incredibly common names for our respective birth years. I have 3 people with the same name as me on my phone and 3 with the same name as my dh.

We are all common as common could be! (and never give it a moment's thought).

Morgause Mon 12-Aug-13 20:07:22

DS1 top 40
DS2 top 50
Me - nope very Welsh only ever met one other
DH nope, surprised at that.

The full tables are here. Much more interesting.

RabbitIssue Mon 12-Aug-13 20:09:38

top 20 and top 40 shock

RabbitIssue Mon 12-Aug-13 20:10:39

that was our two dds, dh and i aren't in there at all.

bluebump Mon 12-Aug-13 20:12:08

My DS is in the top 50, i'm in the top 100.

LynetteScavo Mon 12-Aug-13 20:13:19

We are all in the top 20 (which annoys me as I deliberately gave DC2 & 3 names near the bottom of the 100 list), apart for DH who is nowhere to be seen, although he was probably one of several in his class in the '70's.

TeamEdward Mon 12-Aug-13 20:14:13

OMG.
9, yep count 'em, NINE little baby girls were called Renesmee. in 2012.

<hoiks up judgey pants>

TallulahBetty Mon 12-Aug-13 20:17:02

Neither of us. DD's name is in the top 30.

MissStrawberry Mon 12-Aug-13 20:17:32

One son in top 10.

One daughter in top 25.

One son in top 45.

Dh nor I are in the top 100.

bridgetsmum Mon 12-Aug-13 20:27:28

I'm no 94, but the other 4 in the family aren't on the lists

VixZenFenchell Mon 12-Aug-13 20:28:41

DSs both in top 10. Mine and DPs not in there at all.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives Mon 12-Aug-13 20:29:25

DP, DS and I are not. DD is. Ds's middle name is there though.

the name thing doesnt bother me much. we chose names we liked, DD's is pretty popular. it's a good name [shrug]

MrsOakenshield Mon 12-Aug-13 20:30:26

see, this is why I think it's daft when people deliberately choose unpopular names - you just don't know how unpopular they will remain. Who cares! If it's a name you love, then that's all that matters, surely.

acrabadabra Mon 12-Aug-13 20:33:18

Ds is top 30. Dd is not on the list.

Dh and I have 70's names so not on the lists but due a comeback in a decade or so grin

LynetteScavo Mon 12-Aug-13 20:34:19

Only 76 boys called Jeremy? What is wrong with people - it's a brilliant name.

I'm really surprised there are only 50something boys with DSs middle name. I would have thought it would be much more popular.

Pachacuti Mon 12-Aug-13 20:34:22

I am. But I've never met another one of me over the age of about ten and spent my childhood being met with "you what?". DH and the DCs aren't.

Fanjango Mon 12-Aug-13 20:35:24

Dd2 in the top 50, ds2 in the top 80. Dd1 and ds1 not there and neither are me or dp

mydoorisalwaysopen Mon 12-Aug-13 20:35:33

DS 1+2 are both top twenty. Me and DH not on the list but no-one would ever comment that our names are unusual.

MrsMaryCooper Mon 12-Aug-13 20:36:22

DS in top twenty. Neither DH nor I are in the top 100. We don't have unusual names in our peer group.

absentmindeddooooodles Mon 12-Aug-13 20:36:28

Yep. Me, ds and my mum sister and brother are. Also my ds' s dad. Dp isnt. Disnt think any of us had typically popular names!
Never met any one else with the same name as ds either!

FreedomOfTheTess Mon 12-Aug-13 20:39:18

DS1 = #3
DS2 = #27
DD1 = #95
DD2 = #241

Me = #546
DH = #118

stopprocrastinating Mon 12-Aug-13 20:44:10

I'm top 100. DH isn't, but would have been popular when he was born. Much more popular than my name at school. DD is top 10.

treaclesoda Mon 12-Aug-13 20:48:46

DH, DD and DS are in it. Was surprised (and pleased!) at how low down DS's name is, I thought it was more popular than it is.

I'm not on the list although I bet I would be if it was 1912 rather than 2012

KateF Mon 12-Aug-13 20:49:01

dd1 is in the top 10-her name rocketed in popularity when she was about five. dd3, exh and I are all in the 100-200 bracket and dd2 is outside the top 1000. I don't think her name is anything particularly unusual, it's just not in fashion, although I notice the Polish version is higher up the chart.

Tiredemma Mon 12-Aug-13 20:55:20

Ds 1 number 1
Ds 2 number 7

Dd1 (not born yet!) will either be 1 or 65 or 34.

MissStrawberry Mon 12-Aug-13 20:57:41

Where can you see how many of each name were born please?

emsyj Mon 12-Aug-13 20:57:48

I'm at 50. DH, DD1 and DD2 don't feature - DD1 at 300 and something and DD2 and 400 and something, not looked up DH but they all have 'ordinary' and not unusual names that just aren't especially popular at the moment.

emsyj Mon 12-Aug-13 21:00:53

On the full statistics linked to above MissStrawberry - it's a spreadsheet.

Ikeameatballs Mon 12-Aug-13 21:02:02

Ex-p, me, and dd not in lists.

I can't see beyond 100 on this but dd will probably be between 100-150 as she was approx 95h and falling when born and she is 7 now.

Ds is top 20, fallen slightly since he was born.

I have never been to 100 though think. Might be on the gradual increase.

Ex-p was pretty popular for his time but not now (much like him, ha, ha!)

Lozza70 Mon 12-Aug-13 21:04:13

None of us are on the list of top 100's but I'll bet both DH and I would be on a list from the 70's! DS1 is nowhere on the entire list from this year but there were only 4 boys with the same name as him the year he was born. DS2 is around the 200 mark but funny enough there is another wee boy in his nursery with the same name.....

I think you just have to love the names you have chosen and never mind if they are popular.

sleepyhead Mon 12-Aug-13 21:11:58

Ds1 just makes the top 100 but none of the rest of us are there.

We're in Scotland though and both the ds's are solid top 50 names here.

Don't think anyone's had my name for a few years now.

Jo178 Mon 12-Aug-13 21:15:02

DD is number 10, DH is number 53 and I'm not in it at all. smile

MothershipG Mon 12-Aug-13 21:15:08

My name was 3rd most popular the year I was born - I'm not even in the top 100 now. smile

TheBookofRuth Mon 12-Aug-13 21:16:11

DD is not in the top 100, despite having a name frequently decried as "far too popular" every time it's mentioned here!

Hazelbrowneyes Mon 12-Aug-13 21:20:38

No kids yet but DH and I are both outside of the top 100.

We have eight names between 4 people - 3 of them are on the list.

Piddlepuddle Mon 12-Aug-13 21:41:05

Lynette, as many boys were called Issac (ie as in Isaac, spelt incorrectly) as were called Jeremy - is bonkers!

Lozza70 Mon 12-Aug-13 21:46:07

Just looked at the full list and am shock at the poor boys named Baby!! Lack of imagination??

Dillydollydaydream Mon 12-Aug-13 21:46:25

Ds1 top 10
ds2 nowhere in top 100
Dd1 nowhere in top 100
Dd2 top 20

noisytoys Mon 12-Aug-13 21:49:22

DD2 is number 69. DD1 isn't on the list but people always say how well the 2 names go together (Saffron and Willow)

GraduallyGoingInsane Mon 12-Aug-13 21:56:08

I'm not, nor is DH. I bet I end up there soon though as my name is 'coming round' again thanks to a particular celeb.

DD1 and DD2 are between 50 and 100. DD3 is top 20 and DD4 isn't there at all. Odd, as I'd have thought they'd all be around the same level of popularity - DD1 would have been considerably higher if we'd opted for the English way of spelling her name.

OK, for what it's worth I've just spent a couple of hours combining alternative spellings of all names scoring at least 100 (ie a manageable set of boys and of girls, at around 400 each rather than the 5000+).

The top tens are:

1HARRI / HARRY / HARRIS / HARRISON9,680
2OLIVER / OLIVIER / OLLIE / OLLY8,337
3JACOB / JAKUB / JAKE8,181
4MOHAMED / MOHAMMAD / MOHAMMED / MUHAMMAD / MUHAMMED8,006

ConcreteElephant Mon 12-Aug-13 22:05:00

DS (born last year) is top 20, DD is top 50 (just!). Both have fairly traditional names so I'm not at all surprised. DH is top 50, again pretty traditional, biblical in fact.

I'm top 850 ;) which is highly amusing because if you put 100 women born in the mid 70s in a room together you'd probably find you couldn't move without falling over someone with my name...

ithaka Mon 12-Aug-13 22:07:09

DD2 is in the top 40. DD1 isn't in the top 100, neither am I or my DH. However, we are in Scotland & I suspect the Scottish list would be a wee bit different.

My name is in top 10.

DS and DH not on there.

sonlypuppyfat Mon 12-Aug-13 22:12:25

Jemima all my DCs have Welsh names too beautiful names not common at all

TheSecondComing Mon 12-Aug-13 22:12:53

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Liara Mon 12-Aug-13 22:15:56

dh, ds1 and me - not on. Ds2, top 100 but not top 10.

girliefriend Mon 12-Aug-13 22:16:02

Mine and my dds name are in the top 5 shock grin

<shrugs> oh well they are good names, not surprised we started a trend wink

elQuintoConyo Mon 12-Aug-13 22:17:24

DS top 20.
DH not in top 100 (foreigner!)
I'm not in top 100 although my name is very common for my age group.

steppemum Mon 12-Aug-13 22:18:53

I didn't want popular names, but

ds is in top 30
(wasn't when we named him, wasn't in top 100 and it is family name - we obviously started the trend grin

dd1 has long name that no-one else in UK has, short name is top 30

dd1 not in top 100

me - not on list but if was 1990, would have been no.2 or 3

dh - no-one else in Uk!

notanyanymore Mon 12-Aug-13 22:20:44

Dd1 is not in the top 100 Dd2 is in the top 20, yet we know 2 other little girls with the same name as Dd1 locally and none with Dd2's!

Yup. Dd1 coming in at #1. Dd2 not there!!!!
DH middley, me nowhere to be seen!

Liara Mon 12-Aug-13 22:20:46

On the long list, dh and me are in 600 odd position, ds1 in 900odd.

CookiecutterShark Mon 12-Aug-13 22:21:46

Ds is an Oliver so no.2! His middle name is there near the bottom and he shares that with my dh. My name isn't there, although a shortened form is - and my name is really common (especially, though not only, in my age group). Dd's name is also not there, but then I've never met another child with the same name and it's not really 'out there' - she's a Tess.

None of my siblings or my dh's are on there either and they don't have unusual names - obviously we are all of our time in this family!

FourLittleDudes Mon 12-Aug-13 22:24:38

I am in the 90s

One of my boys is midway down the list and my other 3 boys are no where to be seen!

all 3 DCs in top 40 (or versions of) but in RL don't know anyone with 2 of the names and a few of the other, but not the same age as that DC so all good!!

curlew Mon 12-Aug-13 23:00:58

Dd is, but she's 17 and her name raised eyebrows( to put it mildly) when we named her. Which is an important thing to remember if you are trying to find unusual names for your children!.

Yep. DD1 is very popular, DD2 has a name traditional to my country, but is still in there, but less popular than top 50, but a more usual spelling (in other countries who use that name- in my country, I used the normal spelling) is in there. DS' name is also quite high there. I'm not on there at all as have a very unusual name, not for my country though.

VenusRising Tue 13-Aug-13 00:40:40

My name is in the top 50, but no other family member is there.
When I was young(er!) no one had my name round our area.

hardbeingme Tue 13-Aug-13 00:44:03

i'm top 10, one ds is top 10 and the other is in the top 50. dp isn't there but am sure it would've been if it was still the 70s and dd isn't there but her nn is.

funnily enough with dd (pfb) i was adamant we weren't going to have something popular and vetoed lots of names on that basis, but when i was carrying the boys i picked their names and then checked popularity and just didn't give a shit! tbh i never really found a name i 'loved' with dd, dp pushed for it and i do like it but still occaisionally wonder if i made the right choice.

kiwik Tue 13-Aug-13 00:45:48

Nope - most common in our family is DS2, who comes in at 256.
I'm 934, DH and DS1 both at 977. Poor DS3 is way out at 1589.

DH if he used his given name (which no-one in his family does despite it being every eldest son's name for 4 generations until I interferred - they all use their middle name) would be at #10.

curlew Tue 13-Aug-13 07:32:33

With colossal arrogance, I am going to c and p something I said on another thread. I think sometime people get unnecessarily worried by where names are on the list.

It's important to remember that, even if a name is 27 in the top hundred, you still aren't very likely to bump into many. For example, statistically you'd have to meet 270 babies before you met another Leo. Of course, you'll notice th name if you hear it at all because you're tuned in to it, but the chances are he'll still be the only one in his school. Even names seen as incredibly popular, like Grace and Ruby are only given to one in 100ish girl babies, so in a school of 200 there should only be 1.

This is all skewed by area and social class of course- if you're at Cheltenham Ladies College you are very likely to be the only Chardonnay-Midori, but unlikely to be the only Annabel. But the core principle holds good. Even Harry- number 1 on the list. Only 1 in >100 of them!

LegoCaltrops Tue 13-Aug-13 07:38:50

DD is in the top 20, was born in 2012. DH is in top 100, I'm not, although we both have fairly common names for our age.

katydid02 Tue 13-Aug-13 07:39:49

No, none of us are. Not sure where I am but both of the DCs are way down the list for popular names.

cjdamoo Tue 13-Aug-13 07:40:14

dd not in top 100 3 outta 4 ds in top 100 one In top 10 me and hubby dont feature

Ragwort Tue 13-Aug-13 07:42:41

My DS is in the top 5 grin but, as curlew points out, in reality he doesn't meet that many boys with the same name.

My DH's name doesn't even appear in the top 100 but is an incredibly popular name for men of his generation (my brother has the same name) - in our small road there are three with the same name (out of eight houses) - they are known affectionately as big Pete/little Pete and new Pete (not real name) grin.

My name doesn't appear anywhere and quite honestly I get pretty fed up constantly having to spell it so would much rather have a more popular name !

Peachyjustpeachy Tue 13-Aug-13 07:43:24

dd in top 95,
Me and DP not in

RobinSparkles Tue 13-Aug-13 07:46:46

Both DD1 and DD2 are in the top 20, well the alternative spelling of DD1's name is in the top 20, her spelling is a lot lower. Seems people are opting for the frillier version grin.

RobinSparkles Tue 13-Aug-13 07:50:28

Me and DH aren't in the top 100. My name was a very popular 70s/80s name and I don't think his has ever been that common. He's the only person I've ever known with his name, apart from a famous person. I think it's more common in the states. I did hear a little boy, aged about 5, being called DH's name, in the park and I must admit, I did hmm.

VeryDullNameChange Tue 13-Aug-13 07:52:52

That's interesting work Horry - really surprised to see that all the Ellie/Ella/Eleanor/Eloise's of a decade ago now can't crack your list. I reckon you should amalgamate Amelie with Amelia, but can't open the xls on my phone to see what that would do.

DS has been top quartile on that list for the last century I think. DH and I have very normal names for our age group which are nowhere to be seen - not Wayne or Tracey or anything obviously dated, just names that don't occur to people in the 21st century when naming babies.

shoobidoo Tue 13-Aug-13 07:56:46

Dd is in top 200 (just outside top100)
Ds is in top 2000 (name used 12 times last year)
Dh in top 100 and me in top 200

weebarra Tue 13-Aug-13 08:04:57

DS1 is top ten, DS2, DH and I are nowhere. We're in Scotland though and the lists are very different, especially for boys I think.

Suzieismyname Tue 13-Aug-13 08:09:33

Both DDs are top 100, DD1 is top 10. DH and I are not.

Reality Tue 13-Aug-13 08:12:05

The boys are top 10.

DD is top 40.

I'm not in there.

DH is, just.

JogOnKitty Tue 13-Aug-13 08:13:19

Dd is top 10, ds2 is top 40 and ds1,me and oh arent top 100.

Thanks VeryDull. It's obviously subjective - I combined Georgia and Georgina and Georgie, for example, because I think in use they are all likely to be Georgie. But I didn't combine Amelie and Amelia because although the spelling is very similar the sounds aren't. I was tempted to combine Amelia with Emilia and Emelia though.

Was worried dd3 would be in but still ok. Dd1 and dd2 no, dh no, me yes but not in my age group iyswim.

IShallCallYouSquishy Tue 13-Aug-13 08:18:07

DD, way out the top 100
Me, middle-ish top 100
DH, way out the top 100 (your bog standard late 70's type name)

And I felt vindicated that Eva/Ava/Evie variants which I find ubiquitous here, once combined, come definitely highest.

I didn't even need to combine Henry with Harry, or Lizzy/Beth/Betsy to jump those up the rankings.

I did the work mainly to check that my bump's name isn't deceptively far down. But because there aren't lots of variations there's no such "danger".

JennyPiccolo Tue 13-Aug-13 08:19:05

None of us are in it, all very scottish names.

JiltedJohnsJulie Tue 13-Aug-13 08:23:37

DS is top 20.

Dd isn't in there.

Both DH and I aren't in there either but I would have been number one in the year I was born.

bruffin Tue 13-Aug-13 08:33:29

DS is no15 but its a classic name that probably has never been out of the top 20. I am really surprised DDs name is no longer top 100 as it was top 10 when she was born and is a classic biblical name which wouldnt really date.
Neither DH or I are in the top 100 but they are fairly typical 1950/60s names.

bruffin Tue 13-Aug-13 08:45:41

Just looked on the other link and DH 178 and i am 1018. I am surprised about DH name being more popular than mine as i havent heard of a child called DH name in years.

BikeRunSki Tue 13-Aug-13 08:46:43

I like boys name no.15 too Bruffin. It is DS's too.

Yonihadtoask Tue 13-Aug-13 08:48:26

No. DS is 15 though - he has what I thought was a classical name.

Mine and DH names aren't mentioned at all.

Yonihadtoask Tue 13-Aug-13 08:49:12

Ooops read it again, and DS is there - but right down at the very bottom.

SunnyIntervals Tue 13-Aug-13 08:51:28

No!!

gazzalw Tue 13-Aug-13 08:54:44

Both DCs easily in the Top 100 (to our chagrin - we had loved both their names for years...) but we are nowhere to be seen......

Certainly would have been entirely different for me though around the time that I was born - pretty sure mine would have been a Top 10 name

ZingWidge Tue 13-Aug-13 08:55:31

DH and I are not on the list!

we have 6 kids and they have middle names, that's 12.

11 are on the list, mainly in top 20, not top ten.
DD was born last year, the boys names we chose for her are also on the list.

Choccyhobnob Tue 13-Aug-13 09:11:10

I think I win, my name is number 2969!

DH - top 40
Sister 1 - top 10
Sister 2 - Top 40
Brother 1 - Top 12
Brother 2 - Top 30

So glad I have an unusual name! Our chosen names for future children are number 370 something for a girl and just inside top 100 for a boy (which is still too popular for my liking!)

DS is just outside the top ten.
I am outside the top 100 but there are three short versions of my name higher up the chart, and I've added all the obvious spellings/shortenings together and got 3800+ which would put me up to #5.
There were only 13 boys named my DH's name in 2012.

WheresMyCow Tue 13-Aug-13 09:12:48

For boys names my dad is in the 20's, DS in the 30's and DH in the 450's.

For girls names I'm in the 50's and my DM is way down in the 3200's somewhere - when she was born it was in the top 20!

FreedomOfTheTess Tue 13-Aug-13 09:30:41

I know it wouldn't change the Ava/Eva/Eve names being on the top spot, but I wouldn't have counted Evelyn among the Eve variants as it's not related to Eve at all.

Evelyn was originally a surname, originated from the first name Aveline, which in turn came from the Germanic name Avila. And of course, it's original (proper?!) pronunciation is evuh-lyn, not eve-lyn.

I combine them because nearly all the Evelyns I know are known as Eve/Evie.

DD (2weeks old) is in the top 80. I'm in the 90s and DH doesn't feature

TobyLerone Tue 13-Aug-13 09:56:00

DS is in top 30.

DD is in top 70.

DH is in top 50.

I'm not in the top 100.

DC3 is unlikely to be in the top 100. There are a few names we like, but they're right down the bottom.

FieryChipotle Tue 13-Aug-13 09:58:13

The shortened version of DS2 is in the top 20 but my other DC are not in the top 100, nor are me or DH! I'm quite surprised that DS1 doesn't feature as I always thought his name was relatively common!

MrsGSR Tue 13-Aug-13 10:36:57

Neither mine nor DHs name are there, we're due in January and our chosen boys name is top 20 and girls name is top 70.

GobblersKnob Tue 13-Aug-13 10:48:31

Me, dd and ds are all in the top 50. Dp's name is never ever going to feature in any such list grin

EugenesAxe Tue 13-Aug-13 10:49:31

DH is top 10.
I am top 50.
DD is top 30.
DS is top 20.

We all have conventional names. Neither of my sisters are in there but my nephew is top 10.

curlew - that's good to know, as there are some names on this list that it would be depressing to know belonged to a significant portion of the population.

brightonbythesea Tue 13-Aug-13 13:55:25

DD is well inside the top 20, I am in the top 50. I wouldn't care if her name was number 1, I think it's beautiful and that's all that matters!

20wkbaby Tue 13-Aug-13 14:01:35

We are all in the top 100 but I think we all have nice names so not really bothered. Lowest position is within top 50 so we are all fairly popularly named - sort of a compliment in a way!

NotMyChashkaChai Tue 13-Aug-13 15:34:32

DD (born 2012) is in the top 1100s
DH is top 800s
I am top 900s

Interestingly there almost the same number of babies born with mine and DH's name (in the 40s). DH and DD have foreign names and so I would expect them to be low down the lists. Mine is a flower name and perhaps due a resurgence soon with all the Poppys and Lillys etc.

miffybun73 Tue 13-Aug-13 18:13:03

DD is 4th

DS is 16th

DH and me are outside of top 100.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks Tue 13-Aug-13 18:19:27

DS is in the top 5, DD doesn't even rank on the lists and probably never will (unusual name ).
Shockingly my name doesn't rank either. Clearly my name is no longer popular. I know roughly 10 other ladies who share my name, we are all roughly the same age, so it must have been in the top 10 when I was born.
DH is in the top 50.

BlueStarsAtNight Tue 13-Aug-13 20:15:56

DS and DH are between 50 and 100, I'm in the 200's.

DH is in the top 50, neither the kids nor I make it in the running at all.

siluria Tue 13-Aug-13 20:42:57

DD is 98th. But she's Isobel, so really she's probably in the top 3.

DD2, due in a week, is 32nd.

DH isn't in the top 100, even though his name is pretty common. Mine is nowhere to be seen, but I wouldn't expect it to be.

Bunbaker Tue 13-Aug-13 20:50:19

DD is in the top 20, was at no 1 a few years ago. Neither OH nor I are in the top 100.

Happiestinwellybobs Tue 13-Aug-13 20:54:54

DD top 350
Me top 1250
DH top 500
The dog is top 20 grin

Manchesterhistorygirl Tue 13-Aug-13 20:56:52

Both dc are n the top 100. Ds1 is his nn though not his Sunday name. Dh yes.

Me. No.

mathanxiety Wed 14-Aug-13 05:59:37

One DD is in the top 10 and has been for years. There are thousands and thousands of girls with her name. She is right in the thick of an epidemic of them. Nobody else is anywhere near the top 100.

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 14-Aug-13 06:04:26

None of us are , none of my name spelling born last year (it's not made up or unyoooosual either)

bronya Thu 15-Aug-13 09:46:29

DS and I in top 20. DH not in top 100. Funny, cos my name was v unusual as a child!

MabliD Thu 15-Aug-13 22:04:57

DD is in the 70s, not surprised as her name is old lady trendy - but she's named after family so popularity wasn't a consideration. There were 16 little mes, and 16 little DHs born last year! We are both more unusual spellings of common names from the 80s. Not trendy at all then!

Frikadellen Thu 15-Aug-13 22:07:41

dd1'sname is in top 30

mine is not on the lists
dhs' to my surprise is not in top 100 (not checked further)

dd2 is 1500 something
dd3 400 something
ds i forgot where but there was 9 boys named his name last year.

phlebas Thu 15-Aug-13 22:10:02

neither dh nor any of our children are in the top 100 but I'm in the top 30 - which is amusing as dh's name was common when we were children but mine was practically unheard of!

nooka Fri 16-Aug-13 04:34:32

The short form of both my children's names are in the top ten, and have been for years (dd's name we knew would be popular, ds's name had a huge boom a year or two after he was born). Both ds's full name and dh's name come in around about 150. dd's full name (properly spelled) comes in at around 600 but I suspect if you added up the variety of spellings and all the double barreled versions then the short form could well be no1.

My name is not on the long list, and I'd be surprised if it ever had been to be honest.

We live in Canada now where the short form of dd's name is also very popular, but ds's name is pretty much unheard of (it gets spelled wrong, and we've been asked if he is a girl too)

MultipleMama Fri 16-Aug-13 14:15:09

None of my dc are in top 100 neither I or DH. Saying that, my kids pretty unusual names.

DP is outside the top 1100
DS is outside top 400
My name is usually around the 3-400 mark

Sadie204 Sat 17-Aug-13 23:26:38

I'm at 172nd but would have thought a lot lower.
DH is 7th (which he hates lol)
DD1 and DS1 are both joint at 28th on each list!
DD2 is 722nd but I would have expected it to be more popular cos it's so pretty!

2children2cats Sun 18-Aug-13 08:49:59

Me and the children are, dh isn't but his name is really normal and perfectly common (especially in our age group).
If we had given dd the more traditional spelling of her name then she wouldn't be top 100.

goldenlula Mon 19-Aug-13 00:27:40

Ds2 and dh are in the top 5 (different names though)
Ds1 is in the to 50 and dd is in the top 40.
I am not in the top 100.

MummyBeerest Mon 19-Aug-13 01:03:18

I'm not on the list. I never am. sad

DH and DD are in the Top 50.

Hatecoffee Tue 20-Aug-13 20:59:37

None of us are on the list. We have welshy names and don't even come on the top 100 of the Wales one!

Can anyone link to list for more than a 100... I have goggled but can't find anything. Is there any list to find out how many xnames was born in 1984 etc. thanks.

morethanpotatoprints Tue 20-Aug-13 21:42:41

All 3 of our dc are in the top ten, I was surprised as they are v. nearly aged 22, 18 and 9. They certainly weren't popular at the time.
Neither me nor dhs names are in the top 100.

shufflehopstep Wed 21-Aug-13 20:08:55

My name is there. It is fairly popular nowadays and was in top 10 a few years ago although it wasn't as common when I was born in the 70s. DH is in there as is my sister. But my DD has a v uncommon name (not even an odd spelling - just not a very common name). She's not in top 100 or even top 1000. If you look at the full list, her name is somewhere around 2500th. The number of people registered with her name last year (of which she is one) was in single figures. And my mum's name doesn't even feature although I think it was probably in the top 10 when she was born due to the popularity of a certain curly-haired child actress with that name.

Hatecoffee Wed 21-Aug-13 21:15:01

Just had a look of the looooong full list! My Ds name isn't even on there, less than 3 of his name last year! Didn't realise it was that unusual. My DD is there but only 8 of them!

strawberryswing Thu 22-Aug-13 08:41:57

DP is 30's and DD is 50's. My name has never been anywhere near the top 100, and never will (with good reason).

OhTheDrama Thu 22-Aug-13 17:15:55

Dd1 is in the top 50, middle name is in top 10.
Dd2 is not in top 100 but middle name is in top 20.
My name isn't in there, which I'm surprised about but middle name is in the top 50. None of DH's names there.
