We have narrowed names for our baby girl down to 2. I know names go in and out of popularity, but I am just curious to know how popular these 2 are at the moment?
So... How many children do you know with either the name Imogen or Mya? Thanks smile

4 Imogen's

Countless Mya, Mia and Maya's to the point where they merge in my mind into one name.

1 Imogen. No Maya's or myas but 1 Mia at my sons nursery.

I know of one adult imogen (lovely name)

Dozens of mias/myas/mya's they all sound so similar that I get mixed up and end up pronouncing them all wrong (awful common name in my opinion)

magicstars Sun 28-Jul-13 08:14:53

I've come across a couple of Imogen's (nice name). Know a few Mia's, Mayla's & Maya's.

Meglet Sun 28-Jul-13 08:22:03

I know a few Imogens and no Myas but do know a Maya and a Mia.

VonHerrBurton Sun 28-Jul-13 09:51:22

No Imogens. Love it though, really pretty.

Mya, Mia, Maya, Maya-Grace, Mia-Rose, Mia-Elizabeth ...aaaarrrgh..thousands of 'em. One particular mother corrects everyone at every opportunity 'erm, its Mayy-ah, actually' when anyone gets the damn pronunciation wrong, they all merge into one common name to me.

fluffyraggies Sun 28-Jul-13 10:44:21

1 Imogen
1 Mia
1 Mya
1 Maya

lljkk Sun 28-Jul-13 10:51:50

How do you pronounce Mya? Is it My-UH? MEEE-uh, what?
I know one Maya (MY-uh) and no Imogens.
Imogen makes me cringe, tbh, not remotely pretty in my mind. I can't see Imogen having a sister called Jayde & a brother called Tyler.

mrsyattering Sun 28-Jul-13 10:54:30

0 Imogen
6 Mia/Mya

fluffyraggies Sun 28-Jul-13 11:04:46

Mya = to rhyme with 'higher'.

(the one i know is anyway smile )

fluffyraggies Sun 28-Jul-13 11:08:25

The Maya i know is pronounced as in the beginning of 'mayonnaise'.
The Mia is like Meee-a smile

IBelieveInPink Sun 28-Jul-13 13:06:01

hurricanemum Sun 28-Jul-13 20:05:39

Imogen nicer and more classic imho

Cocodale Sun 28-Jul-13 20:15:21

One of each x

sandberry Sun 28-Jul-13 20:41:25

the odd Imogen and millions of Maya/Mya/Maja/Maia so much so it has become a joke. I once walked round the PN ward and only one baby girl was not a Maia/Maya/Mya/Maja. It is super trendy because it is nice and works in a number of languages/cultures and it looks less popular than it is because of the spelling variations.

amessagetoyouYoni Mon 29-Jul-13 11:18:29

I know three Imogens. One adult and two little girls of about 5 yrs old. Nice name.

I know infant school aged children called Maya and Mia. Two teenagers called Mya with that spelling. Also a Maja and Maia! Both little girls.
