Skye,Arlo and Flora...hmm...

NumTumDeDum Fri 19-Jul-13 20:49:15

I knew a hungarian girl named Eszter - nice spelling. Although of course, she would have to spell it frequently which is a downside.

Flora or Thora from your list.

Like the way Flora is Arlo mixed up with an F added smile

My 2nd son uses 4 of the 5 letters of No1 son's name muddled up - never noticed until I was ordering wooden letters for their room doors and found I needed 2 Cs, 2 Rs, 2 As, 2 Is and 1 G grin

Bowlersarm Fri 19-Jul-13 21:38:22

Arlo and Flora sound different though even though almost same letters

I know of Archie and Charlie in same family which is virtually same letters

I agree Bowler. I never noticed with my own children until they were 2 and 3 smile

My other favourite name at the moment is Lorna - which is Arlo plus an L smile

soontobe

we have a Noah already so Jonah is out as sounding to similar

Zing, I agree in that case, so I think I'd have a Joseph smile Noah and Joseph don't sound too similar but he could still be Joe as a grown up when it doesn;t really matter if his name sounds similar to his brother.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

I like so many of these names, but I still haven't fallen for one immediately like I did with DS's.

Flora is top of the list ATM...maybe I need a MN for it before I can properly love it?
Something unusual...3 or 4 syllables...perhaps I'll start a MN thread...

Where do you find all these Zing?!

I'm really liking Dulcie Flora and Dulcie Mabel at the moment...even though they are shorter MN's I think they flow well, opinions?

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 23:13:59

all over the place!

Panna used to be a nn for Anna in Hungary - now it's a name on it's own right.
Wilhelmina is a character in Ugly Betty.
Surina - can't remember, actress I think
Cassandra - history
Pandore -mythology.
and so on
do you want to know any in particular?

if you like Dulcie why don't you go for Dulcinea Flora nn Dulcie? I love that combo

( Dulcinea was Don Qxuiote's love)

How do you pronounce Dulcinea?

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 23:34:13

Dool-see-ne-a

'ne' as in beginning of 'net'
'a' as in the above or anita

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 23:38:02

kind of that it rhymes with cinema without the 'm'

not sure which syllable has the stress, but I think it's on the 3rd

so Dulci*ne*a

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 23:45:50

actually the stress can be on 2nd syllable
and first syllable is more like Roald Dahl's last name.

best if you research it a bit.
I now said Dulcinea Flora out loud a few times - I think the combination flows nicely and has a good rythym.

It is pretty, but I think a four syllable first name is a bit much with a double barrelled surname...I prefer Dulcie on its own...perhaps it does need a longer middle name though.

ZingWidge Wed 24-Jul-13 12:25:30

oh I thought you wanted a 3-4 syllable first name - but read back, and you said that about MNs.

I've run out of ideas. good luck!

will you update your choice?

Yes I'll update smile
