What do you think of it?

BlackMogul Fri 05-Jul-13 21:19:18

Boring and over used in a Jane Austen sort of way. Is this the best name u can think of for your individual child?

I like it

FlightsOfWhimsy Fri 05-Jul-13 21:20:58

I love Emma. Its classic and the Emma I know is very successful and well liked.

I'm a huge fan of what I think of as 'graceful names' and Emma is in that bracket.

Tiredemma Fri 05-Jul-13 21:22:22

Love it

wink

NowPlayingZone Fri 05-Jul-13 21:24:34

Lovely

Layl77 Fri 05-Jul-13 21:25:08

Lovely

superdupermama Fri 05-Jul-13 21:26:34

Do you think it's a bit boring, old fashioned, dull? Or totally the opposite? Or just nice, not one or the other?

notadoctor Fri 05-Jul-13 21:28:18

I really like it - I think it's lovely and surprisingly underused, at least where I am.

milkwasabadchoice Fri 05-Jul-13 21:35:28

It isnt exciting or exotic, it's not unique or original, but it's a lovely, sound, traditional name. I would have called my second daughter Emma if she hadn't turned out to be a boy!

Suzieismyname Fri 05-Jul-13 21:36:13

If you like how it sounds then go for it. I think it's a lovely, classic name. For some people classic means old fashioned and boring. For me it means that their name will just be their name rather than their USP...

miffybun73 Fri 05-Jul-13 21:39:15

Love it. Why try to be "original" (weird/pretentious) for the sake of it ?

There is a good reason why names are popular, because they are lovely names smile

wundawoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:42:28

Beautiful name grin!!!

I think it's a very pretty name. smile

Happens to be to be my name. Hated it when young. Love it now. Classic smile

Lovely name. why didn't my parents call me Emma

Queazy Fri 05-Jul-13 21:52:40

It's a beautiful name - it's classic and so I honestly don't think it matters if lots of others use it.

GaiusIsAnAceName Fri 05-Jul-13 22:10:51

Boring but classic

superdupermama Fri 05-Jul-13 22:12:34

Ok, see your points. How would you rate it against Elizabeth?

Kaekae Fri 05-Jul-13 22:12:48

It is ok, a bit boring. It is my middle name, prefer it over my first name.

NowPlayingZone Fri 05-Jul-13 22:14:05

Way nicer than Elizabeth, now that is dull.

SizzleSazz Fri 05-Jul-13 22:14:12

I too think it is lovely and under used. Only one in DC's school

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 05-Jul-13 22:14:36

Emma is a nice classic name but I prefer Elizabeth lots of lovely nn possibilities can I suggest Besty? And is my dd middle name so obviously fabulous

Suzieismyname Fri 05-Jul-13 22:16:26

They are both beautiful classic names. Elizabeth has more potential for nicknames.

Lala241280 Fri 05-Jul-13 22:16:47

Emma is beautiful name , was alway going to call my daughter it even before I knew I was having a girl lol
Black mogul think your being a bit harsh

Elquota Fri 05-Jul-13 23:03:53

I quite like it, as well as other "Em" names like Emmeline, Emily etc.

Namechanger012345 Fri 05-Jul-13 23:10:20

I like it and I prefer it to Elizabeth.

BlueStarsAtNight Fri 05-Jul-13 23:51:17

I like it, and think it is way nicer than Elizabeth, which i know most people love but I just find it Dull and a bit ugly.

jessjessjess Sat 06-Jul-13 00:25:28

I love Emma. Used to be overused but not now.

GW297 Sat 06-Jul-13 00:44:51

Timeless classic. Suits any age. Beautiful.

squoosh Sat 06-Jul-13 02:46:07

It's pretty but boring. A solid, 'don't draw any attention to yourself' kind of name.

bugsybill Sat 06-Jul-13 13:24:57

I like it but sadly it is overused imo.

I like the pattern of the name so also really like Ella, Anna, Hannah.

However they are also overused imo sad

So how about sanna, mella, etta, Lola?

sleepingbeautiful Sat 06-Jul-13 14:00:19

Emma is a nice name. I know it's top 5 in Canada (DH is Canadian) and we know 3 baby/toddler Emmas. Don't know any tiny British ones though.
I like Elizabeth a bit better, but if given a nn like Bess or Betsy. I dislike Liz, so would pick Emma over that.

redgate Sat 06-Jul-13 14:01:42

Lovely

MrsJohnDeere Sat 06-Jul-13 14:07:07

Perfect

Vijac Sat 06-Jul-13 14:08:23

Lovely, strong name.

rockybalboa Sat 06-Jul-13 21:14:48

Lovely and although I know LOADS born in the 70's/80's, you don't hear it much these days.

brokenhearted55 Sat 06-Jul-13 21:16:42

It is a pretty name but there are 5 of them in my office of only 80 people. Very popular.

Good name
mine actually
Classy and timeless .
When I was little , a looooooong time ago , no other Emma's that I knew , but my friends family had a cat called Emma .
I think it looks good spelt out all lower case .
