Gary (we were 13 and I lusted after him for almost 3 years)

Thurlow Sat 29-Jun-13 22:17:03

Daniel, known as Dan.

I've just realised, as you've asked, that DP shares the same name. The feels deeply Freudian blush

Matthew. He was beautiful. Not so much now, I'm not sure what happened hmmgrin

Jonathon..still beautiful... but I ruined it all at the roller disco in '97...

LalyRawr Sat 29-Jun-13 22:23:23

Lucas and like Thurlow is the name of OH!

RayABlokeIUsedToKnow Sat 29-Jun-13 22:24:58

Daniel. Was so handsome and still is!

coffeewineandchocolate Sat 29-Jun-13 22:27:23

niall. recently saw a photo and he had not aged well

My first serious boyfriend shares the same name as my DH grin Think that might just be because it was in the top five popular boys name lists in the decade around their births though grin

Thurlow Sat 29-Jun-13 22:29:51

I'm sure they are all called Robert, Daniel, Andrew, Matthew but... this seems wrong!!

willyoulistentome Sat 29-Jun-13 22:34:13

Apart from Luke Skywalker, who was my first crush, my first proper real life crush was a not so good looking guy called David. He has the most wonderful personality though. He had girls falling down at his feet despite being quite fat and pain. He's happily married with 4 kids now (not to me sad) but my heart still skips a beat when I run into him.

LalyRawr Sat 29-Jun-13 22:34:52

Pfft! It's not our fault our MIL's had no imagination when naming their children grin

Maybe if he were called Englebert then we might have a problem...

Bernard. Seriously.

ZZZenagain Sat 29-Jun-13 23:12:36

Ian I think I was 9 and my sister was 10, we both had a crush on him. Ian used to play golf and we used to trail around the golf course after him reciting stupid rhymes with his name. He must have HATED us. I bet he had no idea we had a crush on him. He was gorgeous.I will google him and see if he comes up.

WhoBU Sat 29-Jun-13 23:14:03

Spencer. I also liked a Graeme around that time.

Repeatedlydoingthetwist Sat 29-Jun-13 23:15:04

Steven. He asked me out a couple of years ago. My grown up rational self said no but I don't think the 15 year old me will ever forgive me!!!

AllegraLilac Sat 29-Jun-13 23:15:25

Hellonewworld Sat 29-Jun-13 23:18:24

Dwight, love of my life apparently according to my teenage self , chased him for about 3 years blush

MultipleMama Sat 29-Jun-13 23:18:43

Gustav, we called him Gus. DH's brother. blush In my defence I met Gus in year 7 and DH in year 11.

AlfalfaMum Sat 29-Jun-13 23:23:45

Donal. My thirteen year old idea of seduction was to stare at him blankly on the school bus. Constantly blush

MustafaCake Sat 29-Jun-13 23:25:53

Bernard PMSL Mama!!

Startail Sat 29-Jun-13 23:29:00

Owen and Ross, best mates and way out of my league.

Mamafratelli Sat 29-Jun-13 23:35:48

I met him again recently but knew it was him when he said he was called Bernard grin

Mamafratelli Sat 29-Jun-13 23:36:09

* I didn't recognise him

picnicbasketcase Sat 29-Jun-13 23:37:50

Brian. Hmmm.

ZZZenagain Sat 29-Jun-13 23:39:50

googled him. He's looking old! But then I suppose err... well. He's an MP.

Andrew. He was the year above me at school and gorgeous. He also had a paper round after school on my estate so my frie d and I used to walk into town nearly every day just so we could say hello and get a smile from him... << sad >> blush

Tarquin blush

BrianTheMole Sun 30-Jun-13 00:09:55

Robert. Unrequited love. I adored him. For years. Turned out to be gay.

squoosh Sun 30-Jun-13 00:16:49

He did really good wheelies.

TidyDancer Sun 30-Jun-13 00:19:42

Mine was Garry. He was one of the popular crowd and I wasn't. I once touched him (not like that!) and he recoiled. I was a slightly chubby teenager you see, so it was not cool to associate with me. I still obsessed over him until he left the school (I went into sixth form, he left to work).

Saw him a few years ago, he asked me out and I took great pleasure in saying no! grin

Zynia41 Sun 30-Jun-13 00:19:50

Ronan. @ brianthemole my first bf was gay. I was 18-19. Im sure it affected me. I used to have this feeling that any bf was doing me a bit of favour. I kept ending up with a worse bf than the one before. Until it culminated in complete disaster with the last one. Have re-calibrated my sub conscious now.

MollyBerry Sun 30-Jun-13 00:20:36

Jake. I must have scared him off as he's gone to live in china...

Zynia41 Sun 30-Jun-13 00:20:39

I'm off to google / facebook Ronan now :-p

BrianTheMole Sun 30-Jun-13 00:26:44

I kept ending up with a worse bf than the one before too Zynia. For a good ten years. Until one day I saw the light. You might be on to something here.

blueemerald Sun 30-Jun-13 00:32:10

(Ale)Xander.... sigh.

Alisvolatpropiis Sun 30-Jun-13 01:22:14

Homebird8 Sun 30-Jun-13 01:36:21

Mr Steele. I don't think that will help your baby naming! (He was my teacher and I was ten grin)

If you want girl names too, Nichola.

Bumpstarter Sun 30-Jun-13 10:30:36

Zynia.... Please share method for re calibration of subconscious....

DonutForMyself Sun 30-Jun-13 11:00:58

Matthew, he was my big brother's friend so a total no-go, but I did get a slow dance with him once at the village disco! He became an estate agent lucky escape!

NotAnotherPackedLunch Sun 30-Jun-13 11:14:53

Adam and Hamish.
I couldn't make up my mind.grin

insanityscratching Sun 30-Jun-13 11:19:06

Glynn, I live next door to his dm now and it's hard to reconcile that gorgeous rebel with the portly middle aged bloke who visits grin

TeaCuresEverything Sun 30-Jun-13 11:20:23

Colin. Oh, I loved him. He did not reciprocate my love. Oh the pain that it was.

On the plus side, I don't have a dh called Colin wink

Cremolafoam Sun 30-Jun-13 11:32:20

Gilles. He had purple Adidas swim shorts and was good at wind surfing.
Still divine, very rich and has 6 children who are all beautiful.

Oubliette0292 Sun 30-Jun-13 11:32:24

polkadotsrock Sun 30-Jun-13 22:34:27

Andrew, my then bfs big brother!! Bit of an alcholic now I think but still somehow sexy.

PrincessOfChina Sun 30-Jun-13 22:37:19

Lee. He died last year sad

Theselittlelightsofmine Sun 30-Jun-13 22:39:30

Stephen he was the son of my mothers friend.

onedev Sun 30-Jun-13 22:41:09

Glyn grin. Thanks for the thread, I'd forgotten about him! It was P7, so a long time ago grin

Starsky and Hutch, then a boy called Gerard.

HopHopHoppitySplash Sun 30-Jun-13 22:52:26

Zachary (or Daniel if we're counting early childhood ones!)

CalmingLava Sun 30-Jun-13 22:57:54

Brian I feel your pain. My first love was also unrequited, and gay sad
He was my best friend too, just to complicate things even more!

Bumpstarter Sun 30-Jun-13 23:15:27

Yes, op, thank you for this thread. I hadn't given mine any thought for 20 year, but i googled him [andrew] read his blog, and found out we have a random common interest! I have actually emailed him, [although he will still be 22 years too old for me]

Ohhelpohnoitsa Sun 30-Jun-13 23:17:22

irl Robert, celeb Rupert Everett. Both gay. wink [wink

Meringue33 Sun 30-Jun-13 23:27:07

Then there was Christopher

Then Marcus (posh)

Still love these names

piprabbit Sun 30-Jun-13 23:29:42

Colin - and I never breathed a word to anyone.

ThedementedPenguin Sun 30-Jun-13 23:30:11

Mine was called Marc. He was the estates bad boy. He was beautiful. I dated him for a while until my mother banned me from seeing him.

I then dated his brother blush

He got stabbed about a year ago, unfortunately his life had gotten worse and he was in some major shit.

Oh and yes I do realise how awful that makes me seem but if you knew the place I grew up and met him, you would know how lame it all was.

cooooodle Sun 30-Jun-13 23:39:55

Ben. I used to watch him play video games, and be oh so excited when he had a new high score. I always thought I would name my firstborn son after him. He had absolutely zero interest in me.

WetDog Mon 01-Jul-13 00:22:29

Proper famous crush was Gary Barlow.

Now Gary Numan.

DP (also a Gary) sitting next to me. I've only just made the connection. shock

MyPetMonsterAndMe Mon 01-Jul-13 02:44:53

Jamie. Still rather gorgeous and easily the nicest guy I have ever met.

Rhubarbgarden Mon 01-Jul-13 17:47:06

Morten Harket. Oh how beautiful he was.

Then Heathcliff, who was impervious to my existence - he was as beautiful as Morten and girls swooned when he walked into a room. I bumped into him again, ten years later; we went out for a while till I realised he was actually a bit of a loser grin

everlong Mon 01-Jul-13 18:26:35

Out of the bay city rollers.

Fucking hell grin

KikeriFreedomCastle Mon 01-Jul-13 18:36:55

I'm laughing at some of these names grin How dated some of them sound now.

BigBongTheory Mon 01-Jul-13 19:36:49

See mine is definitely one for the Baby Names section.................

Rocky. It was 1987 and I was 8 :D

FreedomOfTheTess Mon 01-Jul-13 19:58:17

Benjamin 'Ben' - I went to an all-girls private school, he went to the all-boys school (now a co-ed school) in the same town. Whenever our schools had socials together, or any kind of joint activities, I'd spend my time drooling over him. As did almost every girl at my school.

He was originally from Los Angeles (his parents had move to the UK for work) so to us he was the equivalent of a movie star. Not to mention he was tall and tanned. Oh he was dreamy.

My heart skipped a beat when I realised my dad actually knew his. His dad threw a party of some sorts, during the summer holidays, and I got dragged along as family were invited. I walk in and saw him... and then it happened... he spoke to me.

After that, we became friends, but alas nothing more. He's still a friend now, living back in L.A. now, and we see each other maybe once a year (he comes to visit friends back here). I have no regrets that we only became friends.

Gooseysgirl Mon 01-Jul-13 20:00:19

Captain Kirk. I was five and I was going to marry him. Swiftly replaced by McGyver a couple of years later.

thegreylady Mon 01-Jul-13 20:52:17

Ian then Athol!

Kristoffer. He was cool and from Swedish Lapland and therefore amazingly cool to me. Followed by Mattias, who'd moved from Malmö to Stockholm and who I loved with all my heart. At 14.

My first crush with an English based name was Norman though....
