Snazzywaitingforsummer Tue 25-Jun-13 20:14:33

Littlecherublegs Tue 25-Jun-13 20:48:41

Like Atticus, Ellis and Linus as suggested too.

mumofthemonsters808 Tue 25-Jun-13 21:48:59

I really like Milton.

AllegraLilac Tue 25-Jun-13 21:51:33

LOVE Augustus!

MrGeresHamster Tue 25-Jun-13 21:52:24

I got worried there and wondered why no one likes the Milton steriliser stuff. I was just about to sing its praises!!! I would think of that if I heard of a child called Milton, sorry.

I really like Innes though.

Elquota Tue 25-Jun-13 22:09:24

John Milton - poet
Milton Jones - comedian
Milton Hershey - chocolate company founder

Why not? smile

niffernaffer Tue 25-Jun-13 22:17:40

Now I'm confused! Milton seems to be getting a better airing tonight. Maybe it can be done... Hmmm. Thanks all

MsJupiterJones Tue 25-Jun-13 22:27:54

I like Milton, it's a great name. Who even thinks about sterilising tablets apart from new mums?

LOVE Augustus! Also like:
Branwell
Gilbert
Chester

MultipleMama Tue 25-Jun-13 22:51:04

My dd is called Aubrey so I'm biased about my love of it haha.

Bloody hell, you used Ralph?

Am totally confused that you liked that and then all the names you've listed, said as someone who also used Ralph.

I think Milton makes a bit of a mockery of the poor child, almost sets them up to be a certain kind of person.

Augustus is the best of the bunch.

Foosyerdoos Tue 25-Jun-13 23:22:41

Love love love Augustus. I think Gus is a fabby nn. (i also like Gussie as am a Wodehouse fan)

Foosyerdoos Tue 25-Jun-13 23:24:51

I also like Inness ( I also thought Milton was ok)

cece Tue 25-Jun-13 23:29:05

Innes - is it a boys name as it sounds a bit girly to me
Augustus - gloop
Aubrey - this is the joke name we used for dc2 whilst pg so no
Bertram - really???

Sorry not keen on any of them. Nor Milton either.

I have a John though so think we might have very different taste in names. Although we have never met another child with his name if you want something unusual. smile

Slavetothechild Tue 25-Jun-13 23:31:09

Milton is the best of these names ....you like it , go for it smile

MollyBerry Wed 26-Jun-13 00:00:22

I love Milton!

bugsybill Wed 26-Jun-13 00:42:08

Milton and Augustus (Gus) are the best smile

Milton - steriliser
Augustus - gloop
Aubrey -Audrey
Bertram - bert or Bertie is a cute nickname. Bertram is a bit yuck.

niffernaffer Wed 26-Jun-13 08:24:39

Yes I used Ralph, Bitties - as a middle name for DS1, who is Clement (Clem). So the name for DS2 needs to work with Clem. Milton had been my favourite, followed by Innes and then Augustus so am feeling much more positive now. I also LOVE Grayson, Littlecherublegsbut DH doesn't like it. Oh and we know an atticus

tigrou Wed 26-Jun-13 08:37:15

Clem and Gus - fab. Look no further.

Fairylea Wed 26-Jun-13 08:39:37

Was about to come and defend Milton solution and cold water sterilising.

Backs away from thread slowly....

How about Aloysius?

SmellsLikeWeenSpirits Wed 26-Jun-13 08:45:52

DS 2 was going to be Augustus. I even purposely conceived him to be born in August. The little bugger came out a girl. And I don't much like Augusta

sundanceclaire Wed 26-Jun-13 09:10:21

Sorry but they are all really, really bad. Has you DH come up with anything that is not going to make your son a laughing stock at school and for the rest of his life ?

LizTerrine Wed 26-Jun-13 09:25:37

Eustace
Erasmus

NooMyx Wed 26-Jun-13 10:06:06

Milton and Augustus would be my favourites from your options, too.
I like the others, too, though.

ccsays Wed 26-Jun-13 10:12:27

I like Milton! It's the name of my Mum's guinea pig grin Not very keen on any of the others, to be honest.

Fuzzysnout Wed 26-Jun-13 10:20:48

hatebeak Wed 26-Jun-13 10:31:28

August is better than Augustus.
Innes is nice.

rockybalboa Wed 26-Jun-13 11:43:02

Innes is a girl's name isn't it? Bertram is v v cool.

TarkaTheOtter Wed 26-Jun-13 12:52:01

I like Silas.

<deliberately doesn't comment on the others>

I like Innes...I love Clem(ent) btw,lovely name smile

Have a look Here it's a great blog, and this particular name list might have something?

niffernaffer Wed 26-Jun-13 17:31:41

Its a great blog Duff, thanks. Some cracking new options there. Beginning to get burnout. What about Mortimer? Clem and Mott/ Mort???

LittlePandaBear Wed 26-Jun-13 18:37:14

Have you thought about Austin?

MissingMyMarbles Wed 26-Jun-13 18:59:18

I like Bertram the best, of your choices, but Silas and Austin are great suggestions in keeping with your taste, no? I also like Arthur, and Benedict.

TigerSwallowTail Wed 26-Jun-13 19:01:12

I love Aubrey but I thought it was a girls name?

TigerSwallowTail Wed 26-Jun-13 19:02:40

Tobias?

LondonBus Wed 26-Jun-13 19:03:36

What's wrong with Milton?

MissingMyMarbles Wed 26-Jun-13 19:03:45

I like Charles too (not Charlie).

I like Mortimer, especially with Clement smile

MyThumbsHaveGoneWeird Wed 26-Jun-13 21:22:09

I thought Innes was a girls name but I love all your other ideas. Think Clement needs to go down on my shortlist. Angus would be an alternative for Augustus.
Love Erasmus too. Erasmus Darwin was v impressive.

CruCru Wed 26-Jun-13 21:32:57

I know an Aubrey - it may not be as unusual as you'd like.

MissingMyMarbles Wed 26-Jun-13 21:49:20

I know a male and a female Aubrey. Prefer it for a girl though.

spotscotch Wed 26-Jun-13 23:02:43

Sorry but they are all really, really bad. Has you DH come up with anything that is not going to make your son a laughing stock at school and for the rest of his life ?

Sorry, but I am thirding this!
Augustus = Gloop - when your child starts reading Roald Dahl they will NOT thank you!

JumpingJackSprat Wed 26-Jun-13 23:06:54

Jesus cant believe youre getting such a hard time over names which lets face it are no worse than the MN faves, atticus, felix, arlo etc which are awful. i like milton best out of your choices and i suspect parents will have more of an issue with an unusual names than other kids will.
