Wow. Going to rock the boat here and say Jacob. Love it and would use it if ever we had DS4! (Never will)

CarriMarie Sun 19-May-13 11:44:15

I like them in the order you've listed, Jacob best, then James, then Joel.

Leeds2 Sun 19-May-13 11:54:45

scaevola Sun 19-May-13 11:58:50

In order: Joel, James, Jacob

But I think they're all lovely.

shelli135 Sun 19-May-13 12:02:47

My son is Jacob middle name is James , only recently found out in another language they are actually the same name apparently blush

MomsNetCurtains Sun 19-May-13 12:05:40

James. Classic and as someone else said, timeless.

Jacob makes me think immediately of religious connotations and Joel makes me think of 'Piano Man'!

NarkyNamechanger Sun 19-May-13 12:26:27

Janes every time. <not biased>

NarkyNamechanger Sun 19-May-13 12:26:55

Janes???? James

KittenofDoom Sun 19-May-13 13:13:49

James. As already mentioned, Jacob is the Latin version of James so you get two for the price of one smile Jacob v popular atm so it will date, whereas James won't.

Don't like Joel v much.

TallulahBetty Sun 19-May-13 14:08:00

Joel or James. Don't like Jacob and it's been done to death round here - seems like every other baby boy is Jacob/Jake.

Bowlersarm Sun 19-May-13 14:09:35

1. Joel
2. James
3. Jacob

FetaCheeny Sun 19-May-13 14:43:01

Joel (dislike this)

Coconutty Sun 19-May-13 14:44:22

Only James.

All fine. James is my fave.

Decoy Sun 19-May-13 16:31:47

1. Jacob
2. James
3. Joel

Down to two boys names:

Which do you prefer?

Love Harry but worried its too popular?!

Max (because I have one and he is cool).

miffybun73 Sun 19-May-13 18:59:26

James definitely, love it.

Quite like Jacob.

Don't like Joel at all.

everlong Sun 19-May-13 19:09:17

Gorgeous name for baby through to man.

Jacob is nice but I always want to shorten it to Jake, it feels odd saying Jacob.

scarlettsmummy2 Mon 20-May-13 23:46:50

Max. Too many Harry's now.

Dominodonkey Mon 20-May-13 23:57:11

All good- just pick the one which fits your surname best.

Breezy1985 Tue 21-May-13 10:06:39

dinnersinthedawg Tue 21-May-13 19:26:21

Love Jacob - but biased as I have one. Not as popular as I thought it might be here (NE England), only know 2 others and 1 was due to DH's work colleague only really thinking of the name when we used it and asking if we minded if she also called her DS it.

James is lovely but we were always put off by the fact that we knew people of our generation called James - I guess that's because it's a classic but we wanted a name that wasn't the same as anyone we knew.

ShadowStorm Tue 21-May-13 20:46:22

James, then Jacob. Joel waaay down after those two.

Ruprekt Tue 21-May-13 20:47:36

Joel as it is a bit different.

Jacob as I like the nn Jake.

Not James.....too dull and safe.

twentyfourcarat Thu 23-May-13 11:34:03

Jacob, Joel, James. Joel to reduce chance of forever having surname appended at school.

KnittedC Thu 23-May-13 13:49:07

notso Thu 23-May-13 13:55:07

James buy a million miles.

Jacob is too biblical and a bit boring, Joel reminds me of cheesy DJ's JK and Joel.

mrstowers Thu 23-May-13 14:13:52

James if you don't mind that it's going to be the next Harry!

Decoy Thu 23-May-13 18:05:53

> Jacob is too biblical

James is Biblical too, there are a few Jameses in the Bible including a disciple.

Joel is gorgeous.

Decoy Thu 23-May-13 18:08:09

Joel's biblical too grin

They're all lovely names OP, you can't go wrong smile

notso Thu 23-May-13 21:51:59

Yes but when I think Jacob I immediately think biblical, then I think Crackers!
When I think Joel I think JK and!

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny Thu 23-May-13 21:53:17

James, then Jacob. Not Joel

James is lovely but I personally don't like Jamie or Jim.
