I can't decide for DS2. Second name will probably be Robert. Any thoughts?

Callum (but love Robert-can you have this as first name?)

SanctiMOMious Sat 06-Apr-13 21:29:37

I quite like Seth now, i would have winced at that one a few years ago. I prefer Saul though. It is less SETH than seth iykwim

Mellymog Sat 06-Apr-13 21:29:39

Bowlersarm , Robert is DP's name and Grandfather's name so I don't want it as the first name, but thought it would be good to use. Thanks for your feedback though.

SanctiMOMious Sat 06-Apr-13 21:30:28

Robbie is lovely. Great name. Robert / nn Robbie

DumSpiroSpero Sat 06-Apr-13 21:45:05

Seth - my nephew is Seth and BIL is Robert! outs self completely grin

Callum. I think a Seth would be called Seff round here and that would make me angry.

Both nice but prefer Callum.

Definitely Callum.

LeoandBoosmum Sun 07-Apr-13 02:30:41

Seth... Not to be rude but when I read 'Callum' I add ine lotion to it in my head! LOL
Seth is one of my favourite boy names, along with Silas. And Silas Robert has a ring to it smile

toobreathless Sun 07-Apr-13 03:40:23

Every time, LOVE it. Seth is classy around here Callum is not (sorry!)

Both great.

Alisvolatpropiis Sun 07-Apr-13 09:10:34

Callum has a somewhat...negative reputation.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 07-Apr-13 09:16:24

Seth is much nicer.

BikeRunSki Sun 07-Apr-13 09:19:50

Seth, I have no bias, it just sounds nicer.

ChocolateCoins Sun 07-Apr-13 09:29:58

Seth! I love this name and wanted it as DC2s name but as DD is called beth, we can't use it sad

Callum as Seth always reminds me of the character from Emmerdale Farm. (Back in the days when it was still Emmerdale Farm!)

Mellymog Sun 07-Apr-13 10:16:10

Thanks all for your thoughts. I too had thought of the Emmerdale connection for Seth but there are lots of other Seths since so i don't mind too much. Callum is DH's suggestion but it has been growing on me. My worry about Seth is that it might be a bit too unusual or faddy at the moment.

blondieminx Sun 07-Apr-13 22:43:57

I know a mid thirties Seth IRL. There's also the radio 2 presenter Seth Lakeman (sp?).

Can you google most popular baby names for last few years to work out really how popular each name is?

Ham69 Sun 07-Apr-13 23:07:14

Another vote for Seth.

birdofthenorth Sun 07-Apr-13 23:47:06

Seth! Like Callum too but Seth is less popular and more characterful to my mind.

birdofthenorth Sun 07-Apr-13 23:47:43

PS every Callum I know is lovely though!

VivaLeBeaver Sun 07-Apr-13 23:53:44

I know two Callums and they're both total shits.

ZolaBuddleia Mon 08-Apr-13 08:47:25

I love Seth, but isn't it approaching top 100? That would put me off. Callum isn't to my taste, sorry.

ZolaBuddleia Mon 08-Apr-13 08:48:25

Here you go: Seth

SugarMeFingers Mon 08-Apr-13 16:24:48

Seth was on our list for a boy, but we went for Callan in the end.
Very similar to Callum, but we preferred Callan, nn Cal.

Callum - hate Seth. But tbh Callum isn't a name I'd choose either.

Mumcentreplus Mon 08-Apr-13 17:12:26

Callum ..

eachtigertires Mon 08-Apr-13 19:18:26

MERLYPUSS Mon 08-Apr-13 20:22:32

Seth unless you can't stand his school mates calling him Seff.

nectarini1983 Mon 08-Apr-13 20:29:57

Prefer Callum, just shame so popular.

formicaqueen Tue 09-Apr-13 23:30:33

Seth is such a cuddly yet manly name. Calum seems trendy.

WorkWankWail Thu 11-Apr-13 09:01:21

Seth smile
