What I you think? Do you think it's too masculine? I'm not a fan of very frilly or girls names but am worried other people might think it's ugly. I think I might just love it though.

Similar suggestions are welcome.

LittleMissLidl Thu 28-Mar-13 21:15:46

Oops... It should read 'girly' names not 'girls' names. Obviously I want a girl's name or our little girl!

Love it.

LittleMissLidl Thu 28-Mar-13 21:18:48

Ooo, I like the first reply. I might ignore this thread now in case everyone else says they hate it! smile

RubyrooUK Thu 28-Mar-13 21:19:29

I love it. Love it. Love it. This would be my first choice for a DD but I keep having boys and Ramon doesn't feel quite the same. smile

grin glad to have been of assistance grin

I love it, met a baby ramona a couple of months ago and she was the cutest little dot!

janie2 Thu 28-Mar-13 21:21:33

Love it for the same reasons you say I also like Romily (maybe it is Romilly) smile

Matsikula Thu 28-Mar-13 21:21:41

Love it too - it's super cool. I only have boys though.

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp Thu 28-Mar-13 21:23:49

Very cool. Lovely. Do it.

Lintilla Thu 28-Mar-13 21:24:14

Love it!

I really like Ramona. I flirted with it quite seriously for DD2.

beatricequimby Thu 28-Mar-13 21:28:18

A yes from me (obviously, given my name). Have you read the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary? A funny, feisty, cool heroine If you have a Ramona you have to get them.

LittleMissLidl Thu 28-Mar-13 21:28:27

grin now no one I know had better use it in the next couple of months. I'm chuffed I've thought of a great name dh loves too as he was the one who came up with the winner for dc1. I'm too competitive to let him find the best name this time!

Welovegrapes Thu 28-Mar-13 21:29:21

Love the Ramona books smile

LittleMissLidl Thu 28-Mar-13 21:29:47

Beatrice - I vaguely remember reading one of them when I was at junior school but can't remember much about it

SingingSands Thu 28-Mar-13 21:30:52

It's a great name, top of my list for my imaginary 3rd child!

PipkinsPal Thu 28-Mar-13 21:31:04

Yay, I still have my Ramona the Pest book by Beverly Clearly. She's not really a pest but a lovely, funny, feisty, no-nonsense little girl who's very endearing.

TobyLerone Thu 28-Mar-13 21:31:15

Love it.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight Thu 28-Mar-13 21:31:48

Ooooo, haven't heard that name for ages. Love it.

PipkinsPal Thu 28-Mar-13 21:32:23

And the little girl who plays Karen in Outnumbered is called Ramona too.

SanityClause Thu 28-Mar-13 21:33:10

I loved those books! Yes! Go for it!

SoulTrain Thu 28-Mar-13 21:34:14

I love it!!! It's a fantastic name! DH vetoed it though...hmm

LittleMissLidl Thu 28-Mar-13 21:36:15

Ok, enough now with the loving of Ramona... I don't want it getting too popular. I was a bit scared of the baby names board but now I think you're all lovely.

pipkins I think that was why it was in my mind. Does anyone else search tv credits for baby name ideas?

NowPlayingZone Thu 28-Mar-13 21:41:50

Lover it, love it, love it!

birdofthenorth Thu 28-Mar-13 21:52:06

Haberdashery Thu 28-Mar-13 21:53:17

I love it too!

emmyloo2 Thu 28-Mar-13 22:32:22

I really like it and we have considered it for DD due in 8 weeks. I loved the Ramona books when I was younger. Maggie Gyllenhaal called her first Ramona and is think she is sensational.

FranKatzenjammer Fri 29-Mar-13 08:54:39

Absolutely love Ramona. YY to Beezus & Ramona, and Ramona Marquez (Karen in Outnumbered). Also the nanny in Cold Feet was a Ramona. Plus don't forget seminal punk band the Ramones! A great name all round.

nectarini1983 Fri 29-Mar-13 09:09:00

Not fussed....I think what puts me off is the 'mona (....moaner!!!)'. Ramona the moaner?!?! Have you got Latino connections? As that girl from Outnumbered has got a Spanish or Portuguese surname which swings it imo.

marthabear Fri 29-Mar-13 11:47:26

Fantastic name. My DH vetoed it too though.

KittenOfDoom Fri 29-Mar-13 14:49:58

Not all moaning is bad wink

Frikadellen Fri 29-Mar-13 19:19:55

Adore it but dh said no way.. grumbles

Ham69 Fri 29-Mar-13 19:27:21

I also think of the nanny from Cold Feet. Loved that programme. I really like it. I do hear 'moaner', though there's always going to be something with a name.

ForFoxsGlacierMints Fri 29-Mar-13 20:29:24

Really love Ramona! A gorgeous name, strong sounding somehow.

Bue Fri 29-Mar-13 20:29:27

Fabulous name. LOVED the Ramona books. And Maggie Gyllenhall named her daughter this, which makes it cool. Oh, and it's the name of my friend's wonderful little chihuahua grin

KelleStar Fri 29-Mar-13 20:40:10

Love it, it was on my list for DC2, but we already have a Beezus (Beatrice).

FingersCrossedLegsNot Sun 31-Mar-13 00:27:21

Brilliant name, and I think Ramona Jane would sound fantastic.

bootsycollins Sun 31-Mar-13 00:33:53

I absolutely adore Ramona

KittenOfDoom Sun 31-Mar-13 11:24:45

I think Jane is too plain to go with Ramona. Something a little more dashing or exotic is required.

Love it. I loved the Ramona and Beezus books as a child, my girls now love the film too- tis very good. I had a dd called Beatrice and my girls used to call her Beezus sometimes because of the books smile
Ramona to me is independent and feisty. Great name!

GummyAdams Mon 01-Apr-13 22:22:23

i think of this

I love it btw

Exhaustipated Tue 02-Apr-13 11:30:42

DD was very nearly called this but we are great shorteners of names and I just couldn't cope with 'Mona' as a nickname. Plus it didn't really suit her. But love it in principle!
