First name definitely Reuben, but which of these as a middle- dh and I can't decide and I don't want to discuss it with anyone else in RL! Please add any suitable alternative suggestions for us!

Reuben Jude
Reuben Arthur
Reuben Spencer
Reuben George
Reuben Isaac

Am sure there are so many more nice middle names but this gives you an idea of what we like!

Chislemum Fri 25-Jan-13 16:50:49

What letter does the last name start with? E.g. Reuben Arthur Thomson = RAT... child will not forgive that...

Pinkflipflop Fri 25-Jan-13 16:52:16

Last name starts with a C; it never occurred to me to think about initials! Thanks for that

Allalonenow Fri 25-Jan-13 16:53:39

Reuben Isaac rocks.

diamondee Fri 25-Jan-13 16:55:14

I like Arthur, what about William?

Reuben Jude is a bit rhymey.

I am surprising myself by liking Spencer best.

Good luck with Reuben's imminent arrival.

RAC.... Reuben Arthur C.

I like Reuben Spencer.. is Spencer a family name you are passing on? I like the idea of using names that are in the family already too. All the best for the birth!

Tommy Fri 25-Jan-13 17:35:52

out of your list I like Reuben George - surprisingly as I don't really like George ..... confused

Sasparillo Fri 25-Jan-13 18:03:41

CaseyShraeger Fri 25-Jan-13 20:47:45

How many syllables is your last name, and which syllable has the stress on it?

Boomeringue Fri 25-Jan-13 20:49:49

thegreylady Fri 25-Jan-13 20:52:46

I like Reuben George best

ToomuchWaternotWine Fri 25-Jan-13 20:55:25

Isaac! Lovely combination.

DessieLou Fri 25-Jan-13 22:31:17

Our yet to be conceived DS has been named Reuben for the last 5 years! It's a family name & I adore it. A little miffed that it seems to be getting quite popular on here lately tbh! Of your list I prefer George closely followed by Isaac. Our DS will be Reuben William after his dad. DD is only 8 weeks old so may be some time before he arrives! Good luck and congratulations. :-)

Don't want to throw a spanner in the works but my brother's first name begins with R and surname with C and he was nicknamed RC all through school which quickly became 'arsey' and caused a fair bit of upset. Also my bil's initials are W.C so do think very carefully about initials!

ThedementedPenguin Sat 26-Jan-13 11:46:08

Honestly I disagree about initials. Nobody cares what initials you have. Maybe it's just where I'm from but seriously nobody cared.

My initials are R A M. So ram like a sheep or i.t. Seriously I think sometimes people over think this. I like Isaac.

AnAirOfHope Sat 26-Jan-13 11:46:35

Isaac Elias is my fav blush

IrnBruTheNoo Sat 26-Jan-13 12:05:52

DH's initials are TB. I always tease him about it, that his parents obviously weren't thinking straight after he was born!

LucieLucie Sat 26-Jan-13 12:11:57

Reuben Isaac - love this!

perceptionreality Sat 26-Jan-13 12:18:06

Reuben George

amazingmumof6 Sat 26-Jan-13 12:20:22

my initials are V.I.P. but only since I got married, so a happy coincidence! DH actually included this in his wedding speech, it was very funny

we were always very aware to not choose names that'd spell out anything, but DS2 is SAP because we just loved the name combination so much! (he is Samuel Aaron)

based on all of this just choose the name you like, but check the initials don't spell out something stupid, rude or naughty (like AA or SS or PEE or BOG)

Varya Sat 26-Jan-13 12:20:49

Reuben Spencer!

LazyMachine Sat 26-Jan-13 12:26:14

Definitely Reuben Jude. Strong and interesting.

Ignore PP who said it was too rhyme-y because it's not at all. It's actually the only one on your list that flows easily. The others are too clunky - too many syllables.

LazyMachine Sat 26-Jan-13 12:27:21

(Reuben George as a distant second contender after Reuben Jude!)

jellybeans Sat 26-Jan-13 14:12:43

Reuben Isaac

itsallinmyhead Sat 26-Jan-13 14:21:24

Reuben Jude grin

My 7 week old DS is Jude Robert grin

They're all lovely though.

Pinkflipflop Sat 26-Jan-13 15:02:24

Thanks for everybody's opinion on this and glad not too many hmm at the name Reuben!

My favourite is Reuben Jude so I was a but disappointed that someone thought it was too rhymey!

Think it will probably be Jude!

Thanks for all good wishes smile

itsallinmyhead Sat 26-Jan-13 17:03:55

Jude ROCKS! grin Good choice.
