Adele's baby - still no name announcement!

I'm slightly irritated by the fact that Adele still hasn't announced the name of her baby boy. She wants privacy, I get that, but even us normal non-celeb folk announce our babies' names in the newspaper. AIBU?

NatashaBee Wed 09-Jan-13 19:23:18

Um, yes, YABU grin. But it is a bit strange that they haven't registered it yet (they've been fined for not doing it in time). Presumably they can't avoid doing it forever...

AlexanderS Wed 09-Jan-13 19:26:37

Ooh, forgot to say I was wondering about the registration. I suppose they can afford the fine grin. How odd - maybe they're in a state of extreme indecision and it's nothing to do with the privacy thing.

Leafmould Wed 09-Jan-13 21:39:30

Whaaaat, why would you get a fine for that? Surely you can talk to the registrar if you are having so much difficulty deciding. [wierd emoticon]

IllhaveEricplease Wed 09-Jan-13 21:42:09

Some clebs don't. I don't think Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have said what they called their twins. YANBU, as this second fact annoys me immensely grin

SweetSaltPopcorn Wed 09-Jan-13 21:44:46

I sooooooo want to know! Can't wait to see what Fearne Cotton goes for too, something uber hipster I'm assuming!

DitzyDonkeySillyMonkey Wed 09-Jan-13 22:06:57

I can't wait to hear what adele, Fearne and Lily Allen call their babies...I'm sad!

Willabywallaby Wed 09-Jan-13 22:20:34

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen managed to keep the name of their 2nd daughter secret for well over a year. They called her Mystery when asked.

I too would like to know what Adele called hers, and has she managed to get out without being papped? I hope she has otherwise it's been nearly 3 months!

LynetteScavo Wed 09-Jan-13 22:26:05

So I'm the only who was beating down the door of the registry office so I didn't miss out on CB? grin

I'm beyond caring now....I bet it's nothing outrageous anyway.

LynetteScavo Wed 09-Jan-13 22:28:39

If I ran the country, I would have a law where if you didn't register your baby within six weeks, I got to choose the name.

ComfortablyCurvy Wed 09-Jan-13 22:31:05

shock

Adele and fearn could be mnr's !!

I love fearn, she's just too cool.

MumVsKids Wed 09-Jan-13 22:33:36

I didn't even know adele or fearne cotton were even pregnant blush

And didn't lily Allen have hers ages ago??

<crawls back into hole I've obviously been hiding in>

Pizzaexpress2 Wed 09-Jan-13 22:36:38

Are you really sure they have been fined?
I don't think it actually happens. They backdate the child benefit but only for a certain amount of time, that is the worst that can happen.
This is where I work but may be different elsewhere in UK.

Anyway why would you care? Think it is their business and whose life changes just by knowing such stuff?

ceeveebee Wed 09-Jan-13 22:38:52

Pretty sure Adele will be over the £60,000 income limit for child benefit..

BadRoly Wed 09-Jan-13 22:40:58

I didn't announce any of my babies in the paper. Not that I'm famous or anything, just in response to the op...

CajaDeLaMemoria Wed 09-Jan-13 22:41:41

She has been fined, it was all over the newspapers. They paid the fine very quickly, and those forms were printed too. They seem to think there is a lot of interest in it!

My parents were also fined when my youngest sister was born.

Nothing to do with child benefit, it's an actual fine.

LynetteScavo Wed 09-Jan-13 22:43:33

MumVsKids, Lilly is expecting her 2nd baby, I think. As is Peaches Geldof.

ripsishere Thu 10-Jan-13 07:02:24

I am curious too. In fact so curious I started a thread about it ages ago.
I hadn't read that Adele was fined for not registering the birth though <crawls back under stone>

Snowflakepie Fri 11-Jan-13 15:42:23

Adele's all over the papers today flying to the USA with the baby... If he's got a passport and able to fly surely he has been registered? Maybe they've used a false surname or done something else to stop people searching public records? Maybe I've missed something, I'm all for privacy but sometimes being so extreme about things just draws more attention.

ladymia Fri 11-Jan-13 15:43:56

I noticed her in the papers today too, if he has a passport he must also have a name smile

Lilka Fri 11-Jan-13 19:32:42

Lily Allen's baby is called Marnie Rose

Peaches Geldof is apparently having a baby boy who will be called Phaedra, although since he's not born yet, that could change

I totally understand wanting to keep baby's name secret. It can't be nice being hounded by press the minute they're born, demanding a name! Baby is sort of thought of as public property (by the press at least), anyone can comment on them or anything to do with them, hound the parents for information etc

ScalesAndMirrorsLie Fri 11-Jan-13 20:00:22

Maybe adele's doing a gwynnie and chris and doesn't want to be papped with her lo.

BoyMeetsWorld Fri 11-Jan-13 21:31:16

I thought Phaedra was a girls name?

Willabywallaby Fri 11-Jan-13 22:28:30

I thought Adele was doing well not to be papped at all in recent months, I was concerned the poor girl's not been out!

The talk of not registering him is obviously bollocks, they must have a certificate to get a passport. It was something I was pondering on driving to work this morning.

I like Adele, but am nosey and want to know the name...

I like the name Marnie, even though it was the head girl's name at my school, so terribly posh IMO. But is also my old English teacher's name and she wasn't that posh.

How is Phaedra pronounced confused

Willabywallaby Fri 11-Jan-13 22:29:03

Is it Faydra?

Willabywallaby Fri 11-Jan-13 22:29:21

Or Fedra?

Willabywallaby Fri 11-Jan-13 22:45:53

Just looked at DM site blush, poor Adele looks petrified shielding her little boy.

And they're still harping on about him having no name, I'm sure even with all her money she can't get into America without a passport and visa. Her baby's father isn't American is he?

It says she hasn't made an appointment with the registrar, even in our local hospital I think you can do it there now. I'm sure she would have been able to wherever she gave birth. She's just not telling, and has a good team/friends that don't blab.

Willabywallaby Fri 11-Jan-13 22:46:37

Maybe she doesn't want us all copying her hmm

I know a 29yr old Phaedra she pronounces is Fed-ra. It is from greek mythology and is a girls name.

It can also be pronounced with a long E so Feed-ra

Willabywallaby Fri 11-Jan-13 23:01:41

I can excuse Irish names for not at all sounding like they are spelt, but otherwise a name that the poor child would be explaining for the rest of their lives should not be inflicted.

TameGaloot Fri 11-Jan-13 23:12:05

If when born they just said
Baby boy named bob
Or baby girl name sue
Wouldn't people stop hassling them wanting to know

LaurenCaddy Sat 12-Jan-13 18:11:29

I have bets on Adele's baby being names James or Daniel, something after James Bond after her success with Skyfall. But would love to know soon.

I feel dreadful for Lily Allen's children, Ethel & Marnie. Not a massive fan of so called "vintage names" i'm afraid.

Royal names will be massive this year, especially with Kate being pregnant.

I love Fearne Cotton, she's an absolute star so can't wait to hear the name of her littlun. I wreckon it'll be rather girly for her.

Willabywallaby Sat 12-Jan-13 18:35:22

She's been in the DM online today shopping for bouncy chairs and baby gyms...

I think Daniel, or something very normal.

Willabywallaby Mon 14-Jan-13 10:57:28

Yay! She got the Golden Globe!!! She'll tell us the name when she's good and ready I reckon.

starjules Wed 23-Jan-13 13:08:06

It could be called Angelo, she is pictured in the daily mail today with an Angelo necklace on.

Willabywallaby Wed 23-Jan-13 19:22:46

Are you sure it doesn't say Adele?

FranglaisMaman Wed 23-Jan-13 19:41:15

Ooh liking Marnie Rose, very Alfred Hitchcock. Isn't her first child called Maud? Not keen on that though hmm

Don't understand why Adele is being so secretive. Surely she'd get the press off her back quicker if she just announced the name and had done with it? Rather than keeping everyone hanging on waiting to find out.

FranglaisMaman Wed 23-Jan-13 19:44:16

Sorry, first child is Ethel. What on earth made me think it was Maud blush

lollydollydrop Thu 24-Jan-13 00:15:14

The baby's name is Angelo

AliceCrowley Thu 24-Jan-13 00:27:15

Who is Adele and why should anyone be remotely interested in the name of her baby.

Has she given birth to the Messiah or something?

DessieLou Thu 24-Jan-13 03:25:08

He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!
Sorry.
Is the baby actually called Angelo? I can imagine she'd go for a name like that. I rather like it. :-)

twinklestar2 Thu 24-Jan-13 12:26:37

He's called Angelo James

blindworm Thu 24-Jan-13 14:36:39

Has been revealed, Angelo James Konecki.

Willabywallaby Thu 24-Jan-13 17:16:57

I approve.

Willabywallaby Thu 24-Jan-13 17:17:22

I have a friend called Angelo.

Narked Thu 24-Jan-13 17:59:23

Lovely name. Not that she'll give a shit what we think!

out2lunch Thu 24-Jan-13 23:12:31

I like it unusual but sweet

starjules Fri 25-Jan-13 19:38:14

I like it too, its just that whenever I hear it in my head I can hear Mick Jagger going "Angie ooo Angie"

Bue Fri 25-Jan-13 21:27:22

Not what I was expecting, but I don't mind it. Reminds me of Martha Wainwright's son - Arcangelo. Now that is pretty out there.

FellatioNels0n Fri 25-Jan-13 21:37:05

I think what she is doing is a stroke of anti-establishment genius. All power to her elbow.

When she runs out of time to register the baby I think she should just name him (officially) John (while calling him Django or Otis or whatever) and then keep us all guessing until someone who knows her can no longer keep their gob shut.

Patchouli Fri 25-Jan-13 22:05:07

Just hearing the name makes me hum the ABBA song.

FellatioNels0n Sat 26-Jan-13 03:40:43

Whoops, I didn't RTT and I have just realised she has in fact named him now!

Clawdy Sat 26-Jan-13 14:31:46

Angelo isn't an Abba song,is it? Think it was by Brotherhood of Man.

starjules Sat 26-Jan-13 15:50:46

Abba did fernando....
