I used to love the name Isobel but it is now very popular and the name of one of my nieces. So that's out.

Madeleine - no, I couldn't use that now.

Frances - used to love it, now gone off it.

OComeAllYeFaithBaby Sat 29-Dec-12 16:42:57

Lily - I loved it but it's just so popular that I don't want to use it it now I'm actuallly pregnant!

Dogsmom Sat 29-Dec-12 16:49:36

Again Lily, I've loved it for years, even when it was old fashioned and even used it for a dog who has been gone for 4 years but it's way too popular now, I'm 30wks pg with a little girl too so could have used it sad

almapudden Sat 29-Dec-12 16:55:28

I used to love Charles, Alfred and Eleanor, but there are so many Charlies, Alfies and Ellies around that I went off them.

CruCru Sat 29-Dec-12 17:30:25

Same with Ava, Eva, Evie, Amelia, etc. lovely names but I know so many that I couldn't use them.

Freya, after watching TV drama Maelstrom about 25 years ago <old gimmer>. Now it's really popular, dammit.

Ruprekt Sat 29-Dec-12 17:50:21

I loved the name Chelsea when I was 14!!!!!!!!!!

And when I played Mums and Dads with my brothers, my favourite boy name was Graham!

Graham and Chelsea.

Just NO WAY NOW! grin

Alisvolatpropiis Sat 29-Dec-12 19:03:02

I've loved it for years and years. Now,not only is it ridiculously popular but it sounds awful with both mine and DP's surnames.

When paired with DP's it sounds like Hilter's wife's name.

With mine the child would just get bullied.

StrawberryMojito Sat 29-Dec-12 19:04:28

Rhiannon. Nothing wrong with it, just gone off it.

PessimisticMissPiggy Sat 29-Dec-12 19:07:23

Alan. Yes Alan. When I was a kid I was convinced I would have an Alan!

Croccy1979 Sat 29-Dec-12 19:09:08

Shannon. Used to love Shannon in Home and Away (Isla Fisher)

cashmere Sat 29-Dec-12 20:06:27

Courtney (liked when a teen)

Lily, Amelia, Isabel, Grace, Olivia- too popular

Poss Annabelle (as like nickname Belle and so many Isabels)

Jack, Oliver, Harry- too popular...love Oliver though so may reconsider

Dylan-just gone off it.

sw11mumofone Sat 29-Dec-12 20:36:49

Oooh Rhubarb - I watched Maelstrom too. LOVED it! Spent years wondering if they would ever show it again. They never did! :-(

Astralabe Sat 29-Dec-12 20:37:31

Arlo - was going to use if DC1 had been a boy, now know about 6 different Arlos in Bristol..

mayanna234 Sat 29-Dec-12 21:11:33

Lily/Evie/Ellie/Poppy/Sophie for girls Alfie/Archie/Artie/Charlie/Harry for boys - as they are now just far too popular and 'trendy'!

waferhappy Sat 29-Dec-12 21:21:05

LetsKateWin Sat 29-Dec-12 21:28:45

Sebastian - because I realised that I'm just not posh enough, but I always fancied Seb Coe when I was at school.

Boyd. I fancied Boyd Hilton too. Luckily I had a girl.

PrincessOfChina Sat 29-Dec-12 21:33:13

I thought I would have the following when discussing it in 1994:

Kieran Matthew
Mark Ronan
Ruby Edith

I don't mind Kieran and Matthew but they're probably too pedestrian for me to actually use. Ruby is just way too popular and I won't even comment on Mark and Ronan smile

We did use Edith though as DD's middle name.

I also love Rosalind - but it sounds terrible with our surname. Such a pity. Also it would have to be shortened to Roz, not Rosie.

RooneyMara Sun 30-Dec-12 09:47:33

I used to love the name Isabella. Now it's just incredibly popular and I've gone off it.

Oh and Lily.

The names are the same as they were - still pretty and so on, but there are SO MANY of them!

belles2611 Sun 30-Dec-12 17:35:09

I was just saying this morning I used to love Scott and Sarah wheel I was young but now bump is only 13 weeks away we have Scarlett rose for a girl and I love dexter for a boy but boyf isn't too keen !!

pictish Sun 30-Dec-12 17:36:18

Jake and Megan.
By the time I had kids every second baby was Jake or Megan.

Ohmydarlin Sun 30-Dec-12 17:41:05

Scarlett. Wanted this 11 years ago for DD1. Was still on the last for DD2 6 years ago but glad we didn't use this now. I think it will feel really dated in another 10 years or so.

jessjessjess Sun 30-Dec-12 18:45:16

Freya. Love it but friend with fertility problems says it's top of her list. Would be outstandingly tactless if we used it first.

Tara. Always wanted to be called this when I was a kid. Still love it but think it's too easily turned into Tart and DH has vetoed.

Shannon. Because of Home & Away like pp.

Holly and Olivia as I have friends with these names and it would be kind of odd.

DtrawSonkey Sun 30-Dec-12 19:18:16

Loved the name Jay for a boy about 10 yrs ago pre DCs. Then Jayden became popular and now I don't like it at all.

Snowflakepie Sun 30-Dec-12 23:32:47

Natasha. I thought it was elegant and literary (war & peace link). Now I think it is a bit looked down on.

Alisvolatpropiis Mon 31-Dec-12 00:47:09

For what it's worth snowflake I think Natasha is lovely.

My DP's sister in law is Russian and we call her Nataly (this is how she wants it spelt) but ithink Natasha is her formal name.

I do think some accents do Natasha a disservice. My own very possibly included.

jessjessjess Mon 31-Dec-12 02:17:04

I've gone off Natasha as well now I think of it.

MollyMurphy Mon 31-Dec-12 02:46:02

Esme, Bella (bloody Twilight...)

Ava, Lily....too popular

I LOVED Cassidy and Maddison when I was younger smile they were not even on the list for DD as they just seem very dated now...

If we ever manage to have another I have chosen Aaron and Sofia for my top 2 names grin TTC 5 years and counting...

foxy6 Mon 31-Dec-12 03:03:56

lauren I was going to call ds1, ds2, and ds3 lauren then realised mother in law couldn't pronounce it properly she says it as lawren. I couldn't have that would have drove me potty, so we called Dd abbie. I didn't know any abbie's at the time now there two a penny.

lottiegarbanzo Mon 31-Dec-12 05:17:41

Isabel and Freya, because they've become so popular (how did all those other people know about Freya?). I'd had them in mind for about 15 years, for future dds 1 and 2, before dd arrived, then realised we couldn't use either.

summerglory Mon 31-Dec-12 05:42:48

Loved the name Grace & my mum used to tell me the story of when I was born the midwife sang Amazing Grace to me do from a v young age always thought i'd call my daughter Grace - also love Grace Kelly - now every other girl is called Grace so when i gave birth to a beautiful daughter 5yrs ago had to ditch it hmm
