Need cool single-syllable middle name to follow Zacharias

My current fave is Beau, but not sure DH will go for it. Want something short and quite funky, but not an abbreviation, to counteract the length/solemnity of Zacharius. Our surname starts with an M and ends in a Y.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated - baby due in a week!

Kentigen - long I know, but follows the beat quite nicely
Ace - anglo saxon for unity
Arth - a s for like an eagle
Red
Torr
Wulf/Wolf
Wurt

Alvis
Buster
Elvis
Seth
Zebedee (cos it would be great to have initials ZZ!)
Zadok
Zain
Zoo/Zou

(I've just been looking at some anglo saxon names - some fab ones in there but also all sorts of weird things to call your darling new baby - anger, kills, enemy, hateful, horrible, venom...)

I like Jude. I also like Bert, Luc, Finn, Mark, Lex and Shane

Thanks all.

Bob. It's a winner.

James - nice but a bit dull

Blue - really like, but it's the name of my in-laws' dog, hence DH veto. Shame.

Quinn, Jude, Finn, Tate - all on the shortlist but not quite right I don't think. Quinn maybe...

Fox - liking it. Got a feeling DH won't be keen.

ZZ initials - nice. Did think about Zebedee as a first name. But would need a single syllable Z for middle.

Elvis - we called the bump this for a while!

Theo - Theodore's a family name and we were going to use this but DH isn't keen. Shame he has to have opinions.

Any more?

Oh, and I spelled Zacharias wrong in the body of the post. Zacharias NOT Zacharius. Oops!

WockComble - you can't have Bob, not allowed!

sorry, it's short/pet name for Robert - you have to play by your own rules!grin

WockComble Thu 29-Nov-12 19:24:35

Um, I was joking!

WockComble Thu 29-Nov-12 19:25:46

Um, I think maybe you were too, amazingmum. I've self-banned use of emoticons so my sarcasm can be tricky to read...

amazingmumof6 Thu 29-Nov-12 19:43:12

WockComble yes, of course I was joking! but now you have to use Luke - the force will be with him! grin

Duke is fabulous!!!!!

MarshmallowFarm Thu 29-Nov-12 20:55:03

Apologies if am repeating other suggestions:

Ted (has a Theodore connection too...)
Ralph/Rafe
Eli (pronounced EE-LIE not Ellie! sorry, 2 syllables but goes really well with Zacharius)
Joel
Saul
Tait
Blake

Zacharias Flint

Zacharias Quinn is great.

Love Chase, but I think the 's' ending is too much like the s at the end of Zacharias.

kitsmummy Thu 29-Nov-12 21:40:08

Yes it has to be Kit.
Or maybe Beck.
But not Duke everyone's faithful mutt from their childhood

bigbluebump Thu 29-Nov-12 21:41:51

Agree that Zacharias Gus for example is too 's'y.

MeDented Thu 29-Nov-12 21:45:08

Joe

WockComble Thu 29-Nov-12 22:49:40

Yes Kit is fab, but a good friend of mine's son is called Kit so I couldn't steal it. In fact she was the one who came up with the name Beau.

WockComble Thu 29-Nov-12 22:52:21

Really liking Quinn though. But does it make anyone think of quim, ie a fanny?

bigbluebump Thu 29-Nov-12 22:57:00

I know a little Quinn and have never once thought about a fanny confused
Lovely name imo

ThePoppyAndTheIvy Thu 29-Nov-12 23:07:28

Quinn is good, or John maybe?

Finn maybe? IMO something ending with an N would sound best with Zacharias and your last name (which in my head is Murray or Murphy - if it's neither that may change my opinion) grin.

badtime Fri 30-Nov-12 13:46:35

'Zane' for the ZZ initials? Or Zeus? Zev*?

*Hebrew for 'wolf', apparently.

shoobidoo Fri 30-Nov-12 13:55:42

I'd avoid middle names ending in s with Zacharias.

I think Quinn is very cool and sounds great with Zacharias. I actually prefer Quinn to Zach (if you're planning to shorten to that).
