I'd love to know, rather bored, what Mumsnetters have called their dcs if you love their names and are willing to share.

It'd be appreciated if this could be a criticism free thread. I'm pretty harsh with names myself at time, but this isn't the thread for it.

poppy283 Tue 20-Nov-12 18:31:33

I love my dcs' names, Orla and Jasper.

BumsyClugger Tue 20-Nov-12 18:32:01

I have a DD called Lyla Rose smile

William

frazzlerock Tue 20-Nov-12 18:33:23

Charles and Jack

Surprisingly not as popular as I thought. There isn't another Jack or Charles/Charlie in the entire school.

poppydaisy Tue 20-Nov-12 18:33:25

Quentin

InNeedOfBrandy Tue 20-Nov-12 18:34:45

Tianna and Tayon I expect that's quite chavvy to MN standards but I love them.

TiredBooyhoo Tue 20-Nov-12 18:38:46

i'd love to share as i do love my dc's names but it would absoloutely out me to anyone who knows me so i wont.

but in response to your comment about people not being harsh. i think names are such a very personal thing that it really doesn't matter if someone else thinks they're awful. it really is so personal.

poppydaisy Tue 20-Nov-12 18:42:57

And just because we may not like certain names doesn't mean we don't like the people with those names (and vice versa smile). Also, associations change...

whistlestopcafe Tue 20-Nov-12 18:47:57

Tobias and Felix.

casma Tue 20-Nov-12 18:48:52

Aurora and Dexter. No idea what no 3 is going to be however!

PickledFanjoCat Tue 20-Nov-12 18:49:56

I've got a Henry and I'm on the hunt for another boy name so I'm here on the rob!

MolotovCocktail Tue 20-Nov-12 18:51:49

I'd love to share but afraid I'll lose my anonymity ...

BananaBubbles Tue 20-Nov-12 20:56:32

All lovely names.

InNeedof. You have gorgeous children, with great names.

Amelia and Claudia

AlwaysHoldingOnToStarbug Tue 20-Nov-12 21:14:08

Jayden shock Kyle (A K name, the horror!) Caleb, Reuben and Barnaby (Barney)

That will complete out me to anyone who's ever met me, but I love all their names, even though it means my oldest can never be a high court judge. (I make sure to remind him regularly that he can't so he doesn't get ideas above his chavvy status. wink )

thisthreadwilloutme Tue 20-Nov-12 21:20:48

Joseph and Eve

Christopher, Shannah, Sheelan and Linah. I love all their names and they all really suit their names. I do sometimes wonder if Christopher is a bit boring though.

MrsBungleBear Tue 20-Nov-12 21:22:47

Orla and Cameron. I love their names smile

SingingSands Tue 20-Nov-12 21:24:53

Ooooo I love Claudia!! Don't think I would have got DH to agree. sad

Probably one of many many with these names but I love them, Amelia and Joshua. Amelia was picked before it was quite so popular.

PickledFanjoCat Tue 20-Nov-12 21:46:09

Ah you went with Ben boys. One of my favourites.

manicinsomniac Tue 20-Nov-12 23:42:03

Savannah and Jessica

I (obviously) love them both but do regret Savannah slightly because it gets such a negative response.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe Wed 21-Nov-12 00:02:15

pickled-thanks. We've booked an appointment to register him Thursday, so it's forced our hand and made us decide. wanted to get him registered before dh goes back to work.

I just hope he suits it, I'm sure he will smile

I have a Meg.

If we have another, I would go for Ben or Erin.

PurplePidjin Wed 21-Nov-12 01:11:48

PickledFanjoCat Wed 21-Nov-12 09:42:00

Every single person I have ever met called Ben has been lovely.

I really want a Ben for ds2 but I have Henry so I'm worried about hen & Ben !

InNeedOfBrandy Wed 21-Nov-12 09:44:38

I went to school with a Ben. I used to be so jealous as he could right his name quicker then me, his last name was only 4 letters as well.

AlienRefluxLooksLikeSnow Wed 21-Nov-12 09:47:42

noisytoys I love yours, I also love Ettienne, for a girl though, but my OH would never have had it, so we settled on the only two we could vaguely agree on Zak, and Eloise.

AlienRefluxLooksLikeSnow Wed 21-Nov-12 09:49:01

Congratulations purple!!!

Trills Wed 21-Nov-12 09:49:24

Shall I also tell you my mother's maiden name, my date of birth, my first school and the name of my first pet, just to be on the safe side?

PickledFanjoCat Wed 21-Nov-12 09:50:07

Dps brother wanted etienne for a girl but was told it was French for Stephen! grin

PickledFanjoCat Wed 21-Nov-12 09:50:43

Your bank account details and that little three digit code at the back would be nice too?

InNeedOfBrandy Wed 21-Nov-12 09:51:41

Oh I love Eloise, my best friends sister was called that. Beautiful name.

Twinklestarstwinklestars Wed 21-Nov-12 09:54:07

Thomas and Oliver, would like to call dc3 Max if a boy but I stupidly mentioned it to sil and she now says it's her favourite and she's due 5 months before me and doesn't know we're having another yet! Not sure if its a girl I like Amelie but dp doesn't.

Mine are Noah and Rosa smile

AlienRefluxLooksLikeSnow Wed 21-Nov-12 09:56:19

twinkle shock can't believe people nick names!!

AlienRefluxLooksLikeSnow Wed 21-Nov-12 09:57:17

Is Ettienne French for Stephen???!! ha ha ha, good job I didn't plough ahead with that one then!!

Ecclesiazousae Wed 21-Nov-12 10:03:25

Sholto, Cailean, Gillis, Arran and Mhairi.

DC6 will be Torcaill if a boy and Artis if a girl smile

I've taught a female Etienne. It really suited her.

PickledFanjoCat Wed 21-Nov-12 11:10:33

Dosent hurt unless your planning to emigrate I suppose.

Might even be bull I'm not well versed in French but I found it rather funny!

Étienne is indeed a French form of Stephen. The feminine form is Étiennette.

CPtart Wed 21-Nov-12 12:56:03

Adam James and Luke William

UsedToBeAContender Wed 21-Nov-12 13:01:42

Mine have lovely names but are more commonly known as
"Stop it", "Put that down" and "Please don't eat that!" grin

charlottery Wed 21-Nov-12 14:03:28

Alice and Adelaide

Haylebop12 Wed 21-Nov-12 14:11:40

Amelia

Not as popular as you think... Only one in her nursery class of 60.

BananaBubbles Wed 21-Nov-12 14:11:44

Why the hell would I want to know your bank account details?hmm You don't have to share if you don't want to you know.

Haylebop12 Wed 21-Nov-12 14:16:46

However I find Henry, Harry, Joshua and lily quite common the last few years

BananaBubbles Wed 21-Nov-12 14:16:49

That was to Trills btw.

Anyway to answer my own question,I have no children yet,but when I do a boy will probably be Ivor,Cade or Angus, and a girl,Sarah,Genevieve or Harriet.

Haylebop12 Wed 21-Nov-12 14:18:24

Love love love Harriet but dh vetoed it. Next dd will be Lydia and ds maybe Samuel or Max.

WhoWhatNow Wed 21-Nov-12 14:51:42

I have Sofia, Olivia and Anna. Yes, I have commited the cardinal sin of ending my childrens names in the same letter grin

ItsGonnaBeFine Wed 21-Nov-12 14:58:56

Some lovely names, here though.

Raphael is beautiful- my new fave boys name!

Adelaide is gorgeous.

sausagesandwich34 Wed 21-Nov-12 15:03:03

both are the only ones in their year group but I did worry about Ella!

Papyrus Wed 21-Nov-12 16:01:50

I have a Matilda, and am currently trying to decide for DC2 due next year smile

rezzle Wed 21-Nov-12 17:01:09

DS is Harley. I absolutely adore his name but do sometimes worry if I made the right choice due to the criticism it receives.

PickledFanjoCat Wed 21-Nov-12 17:02:50

I have a nephew called Harley.

It gets a slating on here but I think it's a lovely name.

Psammead Wed 21-Nov-12 17:19:20

Nineties Wed 21-Nov-12 18:25:50

Adore the name Adelaide!!! Fantastic.

baskingseals Wed 21-Nov-12 18:37:03

Alexandra, Theo and Gus.

tbh i wouldn't choose any of them again. they were all massive massive comprimises.

baskingseals Wed 21-Nov-12 18:38:39

compromises - sorry they are driving me potty!

blameitonthecaffeine Wed 21-Nov-12 18:55:41

Natasha, Rebecca, Matilda, Isabella and Abigail

The only one I have any regrets at all about is Isabella but only because there are so many of them.

MoreThanJustAMum Wed 21-Nov-12 19:12:13

Mine are Ellena, Elias, Ethan and Emin. The 1st 3 'E's were completely accidental, the last one just had to be!

MoreThanJustAMum Wed 21-Nov-12 19:13:36

And yes, I love all their names. All relatively unusual apart from Ethan although he is the only one in his year.

I have a Maryam I didn't choose the name but I love it!

Metronomy Wed 21-Nov-12 19:24:52

I have a Finn (Finlay) and a Louis; and this one will be Edgar or Greta.

BaconDouble Wed 21-Nov-12 21:04:00

I have a Rhys and Gabriella.

ItsGonnaBeFine Wed 21-Nov-12 21:38:42

Maryam is divine.

Alexandra, Theo and Gus are lovely names and 'go' so well. I love the name Alexandra. It was on our shortlist for DD.

baskingseals Wed 21-Nov-12 21:46:58

itsgonna - thank you so much, that is a lovely thing to say.

Tillylils Wed 21-Nov-12 21:57:32

Mine is Matilda Lily, affectionately known as Tilly Lily

gobbin Wed 21-Nov-12 22:15:14

My boy is Nye.

AuntieShirley Wed 21-Nov-12 22:24:02

This will totally out me, but mine are Iris, Eli, Pearl and Amos.
Have been trying for dc5 for yonks, and youngest dc is now 5, so dc5 is unlikely to happen, but still have a few names under my hat in case!

PrettyInDecadence Wed 21-Nov-12 22:47:11

Jesse and Kai

PrettyInDecadence Wed 21-Nov-12 22:52:56

And yes, I adore their names even though no one else does smile

I have...

Lauren Amy
Chloe Eloise
Harry Thomas

I love them all, but I still wish i'd called Dd2 Eloise Olivia instead.

KittyMcAllister Wed 21-Nov-12 23:00:16

Robert (known as Robbie) and Amy.

Can't imagine them as anything else!

I have a Richard, who absolutely hates his name sad, and at 20 still moans about it hmm!! and an Ella, who luckily loves her name smile

nenehooo Thu 22-Nov-12 00:35:14

Darcey - loads of people have raved about it and think they're being genuine?! I love it anyway - took DH a while to come round, but she just IS Darcey smile

daisydoodoo Thu 22-Nov-12 00:41:35

William and Lucy

2 others but that might out me and I like the anonymity of a user name on mn.

MoelFammau Thu 22-Nov-12 02:47:11

I have a Robin Deborah.

shufflebum Thu 22-Nov-12 03:38:04

Xander and Freddy (but called Bear most of the time as he's so squishy!)

ripsishere Thu 22-Nov-12 03:47:21

Ruby. The stripper it seems. Luckily, she's always been the only Ruby in her class despite its popularity.
In most cases she's been the only one in her school. We have been abroad for 10/11 of her life.

weegiemum Thu 22-Nov-12 03:52:45

I have:

Katherine Morna

Aidan Paul Russell

Rachel Jessie

K is totally our own choice, no family etc connection
A - given name is ours, his 2 other names are family names (dh's gf, my dad)
R - her great Grannie died 2 weeks before she was born. Her first name was Rachel, though she was known by her middle name, Ruby. Jessie was my gran. Shes dead now, but lived to see her great granddaughter named after her!
