For a boy.

PuggyMum Tue 13-Nov-12 23:34:14

Reminds me of Patrick Swayze in point break. I'm not sure many people will make the connection but i imagine a'surfer dude'.

I do quite like it though....

FriggFRIGG Tue 13-Nov-12 23:42:10

Why Doyle chaosy? I'm feeling a little slow tonight....

And why stocking?

BackforGood Tue 13-Nov-12 23:49:10

"...and Doyle" is what I was going to say too

Frigg - it's 'The Professionals'... you know, like Starsky and Hutch, or Dempsey and Makepeace. You just associate the 2 names together (although spelt Bodie)

FriggFRIGG Tue 13-Nov-12 23:57:57

Ahh,I seeee...
but that's Bodie...not Bodhi... wink

Silibilimili Wed 14-Nov-12 00:07:43

Buddhism. The bodhi tree is what Budha say under when he received enlightenment.

Friggy, drearest.

You sadi "when you first hear it?"

So, ner.

<<waggles tongue>>

FriggFRIGG Wed 14-Nov-12 00:21:40

Fairy nuf then.

New question
What do you think of Bodhi when you first see it?

Still loike it.

Are you having a child?

tipp2chicago Wed 14-Nov-12 00:33:06

Wasn't there a Bodhi in Home & Away?

Viviennemary Wed 14-Nov-12 00:36:19

I'd think pardon what was that again. I'd think I had misheard.

exexpat Wed 14-Nov-12 00:41:16

I'd think tree, Buddha etc, and also the name of a rather nice vegetarian restaurant I used to go to in Sydney. But to be honest it's not a name I'd want to lumber a child with - what if he isn't remotely serene and Buddha-like? And people will constantly mishear it as Brodie or want to spell it Bodie etc.

FriggFRIGG Wed 14-Nov-12 01:10:22

No chaosy I'm not pregloa yet just decided to TTC and over excited, names are probably my favorite bit about having DC... wink

I wanted to test the water with Bodhi here as I know the moment DP hears it,he'll be set on it he's a hippy

exexpat I knew i knew it from somewhere else! That was a bloody nice restaurant...

FriggFRIGG Wed 14-Nov-12 01:12:36

I wonder if it's still open....
my DSIS lives in sydndey...and we are veggies...she'll think I've gone mental and named the baby after a restaurant grin

FriggFRIGG Wed 14-Nov-12 01:15:58

Awh shite.
That's out then grin

I'd never live it down.

badtime Wed 14-Nov-12 10:26:16

Point Break.

YDdraigGoch Wed 14-Nov-12 12:44:33

Is it pronounced as in "body", or as in "roadie"? Either way he'd be forever having to tell people how to spell and pronounce it.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans Wed 14-Nov-12 12:47:16

I wonder how to pronounce it.

FriggFRIGG Wed 14-Nov-12 13:11:01

(like roadie)

But it's been stricken off the list anyway...see above grin

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans Wed 14-Nov-12 13:12:33

Yep, definitely Doyle then. Sorry Frigg.

YDdraigGoch Wed 14-Nov-12 13:41:12

Yes, would stay clear - sorry sad

CPtart Wed 14-Nov-12 13:47:01

Yes, Patrick Swayze in Point Break. Fabulous film!

sleeplessinderbyshire Wed 14-Nov-12 21:58:23

I think of a spectacularly pretentious family who live round the corner and have a child with that name (and a triplebarrelled surname)

ButtonBoo Thu 15-Nov-12 07:55:39

Love it. Was on my list for DD incase she was a DS. Now on my reserve list for round 2!

ButtonBoo Thu 15-Nov-12 07:56:49

Although I am a little cautious... Would a Bodhi be taken seriously in job interviews.

Anyone else read Freakonomics?!! wink

SoupDragon Thu 15-Nov-12 07:58:10

Bodie and Doyle. On seeing it I thought "Body"

Lakota Thu 15-Nov-12 07:59:24

It's on my list of names for my future cat. Not being sarcastic, it really is! But I love Point Break [not very spiritual emoticon]

FriggFRIGG Thu 15-Nov-12 10:25:07

It is a good name for a cat...

NarcolepsyQueen Thu 15-Nov-12 10:27:46

I had a dog with that name - he was lovely!

wem Thu 15-Nov-12 10:36:00

1. Point Break
2. Steely Dan Bohdisattva

Both good references as far as I'm concerned grin

CombustionEngine Thu 15-Nov-12 11:33:58

Back when I was a Buddhist I was going to use it (and convince dh with the whole Point Break thing!) Hmmm... might still pop it on the list. Nothing on this thread is convincing about it being bad!

Point Break.
It's what our dog is called (blonde, shaggy, water-loving, thieving renegade that he is!)
<outs self massively>
