Baby names

Do you think there will be a big surge in Cheryls now?

I mean she is THE most popular person on the planet at the moment, but has a rather -I think- awful name...or has her beauty sort of jazzed it up?

To answer your question.

No.

No, but if she were to have a baby, millions of people would give their baby the same name.

That is a scary thought.

I reeeeaaallly doubt it.
Cheryl was popular when I was a lass and up until about the mid-80s. Too new to hit granny chic.

isn't it funny she is so beautiful she pulls it off.

I think this is true of most names. If you are beautiful the name will be also....

I just googled to see if Anne Hathaway was actually her real name - it seems to be.

Maybe our grandchildren will be called Cheryl (what a thought) and we can all perfect the face that our parents and in-laws give us.

I think it's just too recent and not a 'classic' enough name. But if ever a name didn't suit someone, it has to be Cheryl, doesn't it?

Who is this Cheryl of which you speak? Sounds very 70's to me, I'd have thought at least another generation was required before names of that type were popular again.

I assume she means Cheryl Cole

Anne is a timeless classic name though, unlike Cheryl. Shakespeare's lady was called Anne Hathaway as well.

OP - doubt it. But it's better than Beryl.

What? Beryl the Peril?

Hormones make women do crazy things...

I don't think so. I think there was a surge of Cheryls and Crystals post bucks-fizz/Dynasty. It's not ready to come back yet.

I like Beryl. I also like Meryl, and Myrtle.

No-I doubt it. It a very early 1970s late 1960s name to me although glamourised initially by Cheryl Ladd of Charlie's Angels fame.

Agree with MrsvWoolf, the people who copy celeb names would tend to go for a celeb baby and agree Cheryl is very unfashionable and can't see that changing any time soon.
I'm sure there will be a run on whatever Danni Minogue calls her baby and Stacy in Eastenders called hers Lily but then that's already popular.
