Emille for a boy?

Pronouced with a romantic twang to make it more exotic of course .

I stumbled across this name yesterday and love it. Goes with the other DCs name and our surname as well. He could be Em or Emi for short which I think is cute.

Whaddya think??

I think it looks quite feminine with an extra 'L'. Do you particularly like it spelled that way, or would you be just as happy with Emile/Emil?

There's an Emile in Ds' reception class and I think it's lovely but I love French names.

don't do it. It's only ever going to have football connotations now.

BTW, I think the spelling Emille looks too similar to Emilie.

Double L in French is pronounced very differently to single L - probably best to go with single L as that is the sound you probably mean.

see this link

Love the name though!

Heskey??? Depends if you want the association.
Other than that a nice name

It is spelt Emile in France. With a double L i looks girly and, as notconvinced says, it would be pronounced Emeee, which also sounds very girly.

In any case I have never seen it with a double L, it looks like a spelling mistake.

It was on our shortlist for DS1 as either Emile (french pron) or Emil (Swedish pron with stress on first syllable).

But then my mother started talking about "my unborn grandson Email" and I figured that if his own grandmother was talking the piss in utero it wasn't a runner.

Hmmmmmm maybe having a rethink. The Heskey/football reference is fine - he's not that famous is he? More concerned now about people will pronouce it.

Will irritate me if he's called Email or Emil (rhyming with Cyril).

Back to the drawing board.
