Olivia Grace? We adore it - so, it seems, do many other people! Will she be one of five in her class? Thoughts please ladies...

I think it's lovely, I don't know any Olivias in my area. If you love it - then you should definitely go for it!!

It is very popular but obviously for a reason. Its lovely

Yes, VERY popular.

The risk with such 'fashionable' names is that they will fall out of favour just as quickly as they rise in popularity and will likely feel very 'dated' in 10 years or so.

But of course this may not bother you .

It may date and I always compare it to somebody having white walls and stripped floors, probably some accent art. Nowt wrong with it, looks nice, popular for a reason but dear God it's dull.

Olivia's a lovely name for a reason. And if you love it then you should use it.

I don't know of any Olivia's here so it must at least depend partly on where you live.

If you adore the name then use it.

Olivia is a lovely name.

I don't think it will date, after all Olivia Newton-John is hardly a 10 year old girl!

I don't understand all this is it too popular business, if you like the name then use it. I think people who choose a name just because it isn't populuar may live to regret it to be honest.

I know several but they are all around the 3-6 age group its a lovely name and as long as you are prepared that she may not be the only one you should be ok. We have lots of lily's here and they are all known by lily - insert middle name which is quite cute rather than Lily - surname. the reality is any name you chose may not be as original as you thought.

Thank you. All excellent points - I think we'll go with it!

Go with it if you like it. There are a few Olivia's round here but I wouldn't say there are too many. Lovely names btw

I would really advise going with it if you love it. Multiple names in classes/nursery can be really surprising. my dd1 has a common name which is routinely listed here as one of those 'oh don't call her xxx, there are millions of them' names. There is another one at nursery but it doesn't bother me or her and I still adore the name.
There are no Olivias there by the way!!

My friend called her dcs unusual names (or so she thought!!) and there are three of each of them at the nursery they go to!

Go with it if you love it. Its a very pretty name. You could shorten it to Livvy, which is very sweet.

I think it is popular, particularly with Grace as middle name which seems, along with Rose, to be the default middle name for every girl born lately.

That said, I love Olivia and I love Grace. Would you consider Grace as the first name? I think that is less popular.

That said, my name, Emma was very popular in the 70s when I was born (I knew quite a few Emmas my age) but I love my name and always have. So I would say go for Olivia if you love it. It is a gorgeous name and hence it is popular! When they become older, it will seem less popular as they enter the adult world and mix with different people. It won't be like there will be 50 million Olivias that she works with for example.

Re Grace as first name, I'd wait till you meet her to decide. I had a friend who wanted Grace, and when she met her daughter decided she couldnt carry Grace, and chose it as a middle name instead.

Lovely but yes, just too popular for my liking!

If you like 'O' nmames what about

Ophelia
Odile

I have always thought of Olivia as a classic name (there were two in my year of 60 at school) and not faddy at all. I think it's gorgeous. I also think don't worry about this popularity thing - people get too hung up on it.

I think it's classic and timeless. My 10 year old niece is Olivia Grace and she is a gorgeous and very sweet girl. I personally love the name.

I like the name although I do associate it and many of the 'O' names with tall, willowy, etherally beautiful girls, perhaps the 'ballet-dancer' association!

But that's just my opinion!

It's my ex boyfriend's daughters name.

I like it.
