Charlie for a boy? NOT charles BTW just Charlie. I've seen it described as yobbish/naughty/chav/common etc not just on here but on other boards too.

Do you see it as common?

It's meh. Said it before but it's like a house with stripped floors, white walls and an accent piece. Nowt wrong with it really, popular for a reason, but dear God use your imagination.

Charlie is OK - but as a nickname. Call him Charles so that he has choices. You may not want to be a grown up Charlie

I like it.

It's Meh. The boy's entitled to a full name, isn't he?

I only like it as a nickname for Charles.

Very meh. And I dislike using nicknames as "offical" versions of the name.

I do agree with most of you(I just wish other half would). I just see it as a dated version of Alfie - ie an abbreviated version of a popular royal name.

I like it - I don't think there is anything wrong with using a perceived 'nickname' as a 'proper' name!
My DD hasn't got a 'proper' name according to lots on here!

I agree that Charlie, along with Alfie, Archie etc. does sound a little 'meh' as there are just so many of them around and it may well date badly soon.

I quite like Charles, in fact, we will probably use it as a middle name in honour of my dad.

I like charlie but don't like charles.

I think it depends on the person, if a 'posh' person uses it, it sounds 'posh', if a 'chav' uses it, it sounds 'chavvy', if a 'meh' person uses it, it sounds 'meh'. (i hope that made some sense) I like it and I like Charles too..
