even though at my age im not going to have another baby, if i did, and if it was a girl, she may well have been a Dulcie. i think its lovely.

scurryfunge Thu 27-May-10 23:34:04

I love it...is it short for anything?

ThatVikRinA22 Thu 27-May-10 23:37:57

dont think so, - she was an elderly lady but i just loved her name.

scurryfunge Thu 27-May-10 23:38:29

Is it short for Dulcimer, or is that a word for something else?

Nyx Thu 27-May-10 23:50:41

Just googled it, a dulcimer is a musical instrument. [I'll get my coat]

well if i used the name i would just use dulcie. full stop. almost makes me broody for another girl. i said almost.... (dd is 12, just getting hormonal.) so it will remain my fantasy DD name.

TSC....id sneak it back on your list.

I love all those names....Sadie is great, not heard it for a while

theagedparent Fri 28-May-10 06:59:45

I have a 5 year old Dulcie, beautiful name.

tortoiseonthehalfshell Fri 28-May-10 07:10:58

Dulcie is nice. Goes well with my first daughter, too. Wonder if I can convince my husband, though. He's already nixed Winifred and Florence. I don't think he's really a granny chic sort of person.

I know three Sadies under 5, I think it's getting popular aain.

Rocinante Fri 28-May-10 07:13:22

Dulcie was on my list but has been poo-pooed by DH. I was having poncy literary allusions and had taken it as short for Dulcinea from Don Quixote.

Still think it's lovely though.

MarthaQuest Fri 28-May-10 07:20:24

There's a baby Dulcimer in 'At the Back of the North Wind' IIRC- hardly chav hmm

Margeaux Fri 28-May-10 07:32:15

I think it's a beautiful name.

What's the name of the woman who wrote 101 dalmations. Wasn't she Dulcie Smith?

SherbetDibDab Fri 28-May-10 08:50:52

Ignore me. She was a Dodie - short for Dorothy apparently.

treas Fri 28-May-10 08:53:15

Sherbet - that was Dodie Smith, nn for Dorothy apparently. smile

treas Fri 28-May-10 08:54:10

Oops - cross message blush

DastardlyandSmugly Fri 28-May-10 09:10:13

I love Dulcie - it's beautiful but my DD has an old lady name so it's probably my thing.

rachel234 Fri 28-May-10 09:55:13

How do you pronounce Dulcie? Dull-chee, Dool-kee? Honestly, I have no idea blush

sophiesmummie Fri 28-May-10 10:41:51

I'd say Dull-see.
