Have finally got our boys name list down to two (the only two that we can both even remotely agree on.)
I'm looking for something unusual DH wants traditional. However, alot of traditional names are very popular and this is not what I want.

Which do you like best out of
Jonah Matthew
Dominic Matthew

DH prefers Jonah I prefer Dominic.
Siblings are Patrick and William.

DH's fist choice of name is George but this is my dad's name, his second choice was Harry but this is his brother in law's name. I want to avoid family names. I fear that between my daft mother and his daft sister we will never hear the end of it. They will tell everyone that the child was named after them and this is definatley not the case. Don't want the hassle of explaining to everyone.

Apologies for babbling on, I'd appreciate your thoughts though.

Congratulations!

I prefer Dominic Matthew but I like Jonah too! All your boys have lovely names.

Dominic.

Jonah means bad luck I am afraid (apols to any mums of Jonahs).

I know 2 small Dominics, both lovely.

I have similarly named ds to your other two. I think it's interesting to see how other siblings are named. Don't get the name goes with thing - why does it matter?

With our dc3 we were really stuck between two names but I got my way after he was born. Wait until he gets here and I'm sure you'll get your own way!

By the way (not that it matters again) I much prefer Jonah, even prior to the Welsh Dom thing we used to tease the Dom in our class with another local slang term - if you're not in the area I grew up (SW) unlikely to be an issue, but these things stay with me!

Dominic definately! Agree with the family names. My DH wanted a boy called Freddie - both our grandads were called this but I know his mum would be telling everyone he was named after her dad and my poor grandad would be forgotten. Can just be too messy sometimes.

In Hebrew, the name Jonah means - Dove. In the Bible, the prophet Jonah was swallowed by a whale after God caused his ship to sink and then was tossed up onto dry land after three days and nights. Sailors traditionally use the name Jonah to personify someone who brings bad luck.

Maybe if you want him to grew up to be a sailor he should be called Dominic? Not too bad if he wants to be a pilot - should be able to find dry land
