Possibly, tbh. A shame as it's a good name. But I have a DD1 Eleanor and went with a name beginning with another letter for DD2.

Eliza is lovely and if you like it go for it.

It would be too similar for me. It is a lovely name though - a middle name maybe?

If I had an Eleanor I'd steer clear of Eliza (even though it's a name I love) because they both begin with El and both could have Ellie as a nn.

What about Elizabeth?

No, I think it would be fine. Do you shorten Eleanor at all?

We never shorten Eleanor, I don't really like Ellie and have made sure no friends or relatives ever shorten it to that. When she was a baby we called her Nellie.

I have an Eliza, and she has a very good friend Eleanor. They never get mixed up, unlike Eleanor and Ellie.

My dd seems to have adopted 'Liza as her nickname. Or Lizahhhh, if you look at her facebook page

Definitely too close IMO as could both be Elle or Ellie.

Both lovely names but I think you should try to come up with something else a bit more different.

I think that they are very similar, probably too close for siblings.

I think it's lovely and fine, especially with William thrown in to the equation.

I wouldn't, think they're too similar

I think they are lovely together esp with William. Not too similar at all IMO . I have an Eliza and she is ALWAYS Eliza - I can't stand nn Ellie

Seems opinion is 50-50 then. Really like it but not sure can do it even though I would never shortern either to Ellie can't guarantee they wouldn't want to later.
My other likes are:

Emmeline/Emeline (Emmy)
Elizabth (Libby or Bessie)
Hannah
Imogen
Abigail

Emmeline and Abigail are both lovely names How about Eliza as a middle name? Abigail Eliza would fit very nicely.

I think nn are given the same way we choose our childrens names.
I am NEVER a becky, never have been and strangely, no-one new calls me it, the very rare occasions it happens, I just correct it, but when I make new friends, they just seem to call me bec, without discussion.

Our Eliza is shortened to Izzy.

I think Jemima is beautiful. You should definitely go with that.
I think it means 'dove' which is pretty too.

beccas-you have made my day!

Have spent all day thinking about this and was wondering if it would be OK to shorten Eliza to Izzy-so really pleased to hear someone has done that.

Baby is due in 3 week and have not found a single other name that I love like Eliza.
