Short for Laurence, to go with brother Barnaby and a 2-syllable surname starting in L! Silly of fab?

I like Laurence with Laurie for short.

Sorry but I don't like Larry.

I prefer Lenny.
On Curb Your Enthusiasm, everyone calls Larry David 'Lar' - that would drive me mad hearing people say that.
Am not against alliteration though.

I like it I think, Lawrence/Laurence is lovely - I know one 2 year old. I think it goes well with Barnaby.

Don't like Larry for some reason but can't work out why........what accent would it be mostly said in?

My DS is Laurie short for Laurence. We had to call him Larry when we went to America to avoid the strange looks! Am not adverse to the name Larry though!

Don't like Larry at all but love Laurence and Laurie (dd1 would have been it) and can cope with Lol or Loz too.

Larry is very American, to me. Not that that's a bad thing.

Prefer Laurie as the shortened version.

I really dislike this nn, sorry.

This is the reason I would choose Lorcan (Irish) over Laurence.

Please, don't.

Really don't like it. Larry the lamb, Larry Hagman, Larry Grayson.

Laurie I really like, Lorcan I love.

Oh dear, DH is of the same opinion and Laurie is out for personal reasons. Thanks for the reality check!

we know a lawrence and he's just called that - not laurie or larry (which is not nice imho). We call him Lozza for a joke sometimes but it's not his nickname.
