Lucy Lee? Will she hate us?

DH loves the sound of it, I think it borders on cruel.

What do you think?

Do you like the alliteration?

Can you think of any names (boys and girls) where the alliteration would work with our surname?

All Lucy's in history have at some point had their names shortened to Luce (loose)

Luce Lee - she'd better learn martial arts

Yes, I rather think she will. Well, not hate perhaps but she will be bitter about it.

In fact, only last weekend I was berating my parents over their frankly cruel choice of name for me...

Not sure if Lucinda Lee is much better?

OrmRenewed · 07/04/2010 14:02

Yes indeed she will.

I don't like it sorry.

Lucy is pretty but Lucy lee sounds a bit like a page 3 models name . Stick with Lucy but with a different middle name.

How about Leela? [chortle]

Marne, Lee is their Surname not a middle name.

I think changing it by Deed poll for the whole family might be a little drastic!

Lucy is lovely, but leave off the Lee or she will hate you! (You can use Lucy Lee as a nickname-until she is old enough to ask you to stop).

Pisces - Lee is the surname!

piscesmoon · 07/04/2010 14:10

Sorry
Keep off Lucy then!

Report
Marne · 07/04/2010 14:10

Sorry , maybe forget Lucy altogether then. I think if you have a short surname then maybe a longer first name would be good?

piscesmoon · 07/04/2010 14:11

It just shows that I should read properly!

Marne · 07/04/2010 14:14

me too

Lee is a great surname BTW , nothing really goes with our surname, dd2's name would go nicely with Lee.

You need something like Susannah

Susannah Lee works will and you could shorten it to Suzy

My married surname begins with a L. L's are hard I found.

My maiden name was alliterated btw. I couldn't wait to get married and change it!!

Report
piscesmoon · 07/04/2010 14:18

Susannah sounds nice. I think that a longer name works better.

Probably best to avoid Emma too. She'll get "...and your surname??" every time she tells people her name.

And not Sara!!

It sounds like a porn name. Sorry. The combination of my first name and DH's surname is scarily similar to that. It's one of the reasons I give for not using his surname.

I have a friend called Lucy Lee and I have never once heard anyone make a bad comment about her name. And she is gorgeous - which is obviously very relevant and helpful to you!!

PanicMode · 07/04/2010 17:31

The immediate rhyme that came into my head was "Lucy Lee is very twee"....I personally wouldn't but then Lucy isn't a favourite of mine anyway - not that helpful - sorry!!

I am a triple L and my daughter has three L names too (she's a Lucy). I rather liked my triple L growing up, there were loads of girls with my first name so it made be feel a bit special! Don't remember ever being teased about my name, everything else, but not my name

Umm is it a bit 'porny'??? You did ask...

I would just think of something you both like and not ask any opinons. What ever you announce your baby's name to be, everyone will love it because they'll love baby. No one will look at baby lucy lee and think... hmm thats a bit porny!

Just wanted to add, I really don't think this name is porny or page three, it makes me think of lois lane or peter parker, rather than anything seedy, she could be a super hero!
