I wouldn't go with Jacob or Jake with John- Jake John sounds a bit waltons.

I actually like Adam and Matthew best and think they go well with John, but overall I think Adam John sounds great.

Matthew John is too biblical.
I like Dexter John. Nearly called our DS Dexter.

Theodore John is the best imho.

Jacob/Jake/Joel John = not good at all methinks and I dislike Zachary, sorry.

Adam and Matthew both nice names and sound fine with John.

I think I would go for Theo/dore or Zachary...I think the others are so popular and a little dull! But then don't take advice from someone who has an Oliver! A very popular name I am told!

I don't like the J names (just because I think it sounds better to have a middle name that's not same initial as first name).

Purely from the way it sounds I like ring of 'Dexter John" 3 syllables (but then I suppose he won't be using his middle name very often)

I'm a big fan of unusual names so I prefer the less common: Theodore, Dexter & Zachary (I think Zach as a shortened version is a very cool name for a little boy!)

Jacob is my favourite but then I am biased.

I really like Adam John. My bro is Adam James and does get AJ from his friends so that's something to think about.

Wouldn't bother me though.

Adam John
Theo John

I have a Patrick John and I think that sounds lovely.

Don't do Dexter - why would you name a child after a fictional serial killer?

Totally agree with seeker
Adam or Theo

I too have a Patrick and think Patrick John sounds lovely!!

Don't do Dexter - why would you name your child after a cow?

My faves in order:

Jacob
Zachery
Joel
Dexter

But I love your whole list! Matthew is the only one I think doesn't go with John -might get people asking when Luke Mark is coming along!!

Jacob/ Jake -- not with John
Adam -- ok
Matthew -- ok
Theo/dore -- love
Joel -- no
Zachary -- like a lot
Dexter -- like a lot

So, Theodore, Zachary, Dexter, Adam and Matthew, in that order. No J names, and Joel out for other reasons too.
