Too rhymey?

Ok, I'm not even pregnant but humour me.

I really love Ada. I won't bore you with the details but it's perfect for all sorts of reasons and I have my heart set on it. I am fixated on having a girl because I love it and want to use it so badly.

One possible problem though. Our surname is two syllables and ends in "-der". That's a bit rhymey I know, but personally I think it's not rhymey to the point of sounding silly - though I am biased obviously. DH has some reservations.

I need some sensible, objective thoughts please!

I LOVE that name too. Wish I had used it for dd2. It was my number one but DH wasn't keen and got some negative reactions to it and wimped out.

Called dd2 Amy instead but still regret it, especially as we have met lots of little Amys lately but no Adas.

Go for it, when the time comes

I like Ada but I know what you mean with my last daughter I really wanted Katy but our last name starts with K and ends By so it sounded too rhymey - we went with Bethan instead...I have my eye on Katy again this time though!

I would expect a few negative reactions as well, suiledonne. "Ugh, it's an old lady name" etc etc. I'm pretty stubborn though so it's water off a duck's back.

Most negative reactions were because dd1 has a girly name and others (mainly my older sister) thought Ada sounded a bit harsh and austere next to it.

Now that I've used Amy don't think I could use Ada if there is a next time. Too similar in that they are short 'A' names.
