Not too common.... I dont know anyone called Felix, does remind me of the cat though, but I suppose that is because I dont knwo anyone else with the name.

I know two (aged 5). I love it and the cat thing doesn't bother me (we have a Rufus which gets the MN response "it's a dogs name" 50% of the time and love it/hate it the other 25/25% of the time!) but my DS1 doesn't like it and says it's too popular so have had to take it off our list.

See we like Rufus too !

What excellent taste you have . DS3 is likely to be Monty....

Monty is so cute !

I know a baby Felix... it suits him and I do quite like it but what would put me off is you can't really shorten it to anything that works.

I know a 2yr old Felix.
It wasn't in the 2010 top 100 boys names as far as I can remember so not common yet!
I love it

I love Felix and DS was almost Felix until BIL told DH that it was a public school name which put DH off for some daft reason

I also love Rufus and Monty.

i like it. i like rufus and Monty too, and Bruno. The dog thing doesn't bother me.

PanicMode · 05/02/2010 15:40

I love Bruno - DH said we couldn't have it because of the Sacha Baren Coen thing. And we have a Theo, so it may have been difficult with two names ending in -o.

Go for it. Was talked out of it for DS2, a smidgen too unconventional for DH, and sort of regret it. It's sweet for a small boy also handsome and wise but not taking itself too seriously for a man. No spelling, pronunciation worries...

It means fortunate and happy

It does make me think of the cat. A friend of mine had a Felix...and then a Tabitha! Which seemed to be pushing it a bit. I also used to work with an adult Felix who has a son called Oscar. Again, that struck me as a bit odd.

And I always want to ask about his toe... but maybe that's just me.

DP thinks it may be too common soon, he prefers the Lucius thread....

DH wanted Felix for DS but I just couldn't say it without thinking of cats which would have just done my head in!! I do think it's a cool name tho, I just personally couldn't get over the cat association.

I have a nearly 4 yo Felix so am biased but I love his name more every day. Oh, and also have an Oscar and don't get the weird association thing someone mentioned earlier??

magbags · 09/02/2010 18:18

There are 7! yes 7 boys called Felix at DS's nursery.

But don't let that put you off
