What do you think of Briar as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

No.

It's the name of a road/street/place/avenue.

I thought there was a story about Briar Rabbit, but a quick google tells me it's Br'er.

As you were.

Is there not a Briar Rose, sister of Snow White or something???

That's right, Briar Rose. I'll be avoiding Rose as a possible middle name.

My OH vetoed Bertha and came up with this.

How about Briony? Or Brianne?

Briar Rose was the name given to Sleeping Beauty when she lived in the forest

I knew it was something to do with Disney Princesses!

My dh wouldn't budge from Elinor, but we ended up with a ds.

Are you definately having a girl?

I know a little girl called Bryher which I think is a prettier version. Doesn't look so much like Brian

Report
crumpet · 03/02/2010 17:39

Will it not constantly be mistaken for Brian? Nice name though.

I like it, unusual.
First thought was that it was a boy's name though.

Report
BalloonSlayer · 03/02/2010 18:21

I like it. I know one and her sisters also have rose-related names.

Report
monetinjanuary · 03/02/2010 18:47

No, not definitely having a girl. Boys are much easier and we've already decided on Felix or Rafferty, middle name Edward.
