Is this after Cecil Rhodes

turkeydrumstix · 15/12/2009 15:52

Um, you should probably do some research on Cecil Rhodes before you decide to inflict that on your daughter!

No, it's a bit "loaded". How about Adolf instead?

Report
DiamondHead · 15/12/2009 15:55

Adolph's not so feminine though. If I was going down that route, I'd use Adolpha or Aldolphia.

Cortina · 15/12/2009 16:02

Zimbabwe would be a good nickname?

I know one and she's beautiful and talented and it's got me thinking.....

It carries an awful amount of baggage that name, and i am not sure your daughter/son would want to have to carry that with them - are you aware of the name change from Rhodesia to Zimbabwe and all that it entailed .... the name carries a history .... i would step away ....

  • where did you get the idea from, has someone else called their baby Rhodesia?!

You musn't do it, it's just so loaded as skihorse says.

I say this as someone from that part of the world as well.

Or Rhoda. Close, but not actually Rhodesia

But Mali, that's nice. And Chad for a boy. Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo I would avoid.
