I wanted something meaningful to when my dc was conceived, do you think absinthe is suitable for a girl or a boy?

Skegness Fri 20-Nov-09 16:06:53

Yes, a wonderful choice for either gender. My dd is called Cinammon Aftershock. Congratulations and please let us know when little Absinthe is born.

Littlefish Fri 20-Nov-09 16:08:24

My next dd will be called Sambucca.

thesockmonsterofdoom Fri 20-Nov-09 16:26:16

see sambuca is nice for a girl but not great for a boy. Cinammon aftershock sounds likre a stripper name, you aren't really serious are you?

claraquack Fri 20-Nov-09 16:27:55

I have a Mojito and a Margarita. Margy for short as we weren't keen on Rita. Thought it was a little old fashioned.

thesockmonsterofdoom Fri 20-Nov-09 16:30:33

margy and mo, I like that. smile

lowrib Fri 20-Nov-09 16:35:07

I've always been keen on Special Brew, lovely name.

DandyLioness Fri 20-Nov-09 16:43:51

Absinthe is a good choice. Abbie for short.
Or Sin.

I should have called DD Bloody Mary.

grin

MaggiePie Fri 20-Nov-09 17:08:35

My two are WEst Coast Cooler Classic and West Coast cooler Rose

MaggiePie Fri 20-Nov-09 17:09:38

What about Perry?! Some stuffy people migth think it was short for Peregrine, but only the op would know it was an alcoholic drink. Clever huh?

Jackstini Fri 20-Nov-09 17:09:57

Lovely. I have a Gewurtztramminer and a Rioja-Reserva myself

EvilTwins Fri 20-Nov-09 17:10:36

My twins are WooWoo and Cosmopolitan. Problem is, people assume Cosmo is a boy and that we're really posh.

nickelbabe Fri 20-Nov-09 17:12:02

course, it all sounds a little "chardonnay" for the new year.

Amurula is much more classy, or Bourbon (for a boy)

(but then they might think you'd named it after a biscuit (but not that one) and that would just be silly....

GinSlinger Fri 20-Nov-09 17:14:52

mine's ginette

FritesMenthe Fri 20-Nov-09 17:15:03

I have a hankering after Bailey (if boy) or Tia Maria (if girl)

dizzydixies Fri 20-Nov-09 17:25:07

I swear to all things MN and holy that I know someone called Kaluha hmm

mine would have to be called Smice or something equally classy!!!

thesockmonsterofdoom Fri 20-Nov-09 17:32:40

Oh kaluha is nice (actually could just fancy a glass), adult or child?

bellissima Fri 20-Nov-09 17:38:32

Cherry B (and brother Perry). Both little duvels...

FritesMenthe Fri 20-Nov-09 17:48:44

Kaluha & milk...mmmmmm

dizzydixies Fri 20-Nov-09 18:22:15

she'll be in her 20s now, a friend of my younger cousin

she was called this because her parents had been drinking it the night she was conceived - fortunately for her it wasn't mad dog 2020 or special brew grin

BellaBear Fri 20-Nov-09 18:25:13

When i was little I called my doll Tia Maria (seriously) because I thought it sounded beeyooootiful. honestly. couldn't work out why my parents thought it was so funny.

thesockmonsterofdoom Fri 20-Nov-09 18:27:52

I had a pony called Tico after what my mum was always drinking, I thought it was such a nice word. Still think Absinthe is a good name though. or how about Absolute?

claraquack Fri 20-Nov-09 18:55:57

actually DH was desperate to call dd1 Appletina, she was "made in Jamaica" after all.

dizzydixies Fri 20-Nov-09 19:05:33
