LOVE IT. My DH does not agree though sadly! Also think it works very well as a middle name as a less used alternative to May/ Mae

I associate it with the ancient Irish legend of the Tain. Maeve was a very self-possessed queen, very sure of herself, powerful -- great namesake to have.

Friend has very beautiful teenage daughter with this name

I am not so sure. my friend's now ex was having a baby girl and he was thrilled that they'd agreed on the name Scarlett. When she was born, said ex decided that the baby would be Maeve and that was that. He didn't like the name and was really disappointed, so it's associated with disappointment for me! That and it makes me think of mauve. I'd rather be Scarlett than Mauve haha
