Ariana sounds Greek-ish to me. Ariana Stassinopolos (sp) was a Greek MP, I think. Rosanna sounds more traditional, old-fashioned, but not your usual.

What about shortening/nicknames? Rose is lovely, but Ari? Or would you go for Ana?

Just a few thoughts.

FWIW I love Ariana, definately my preference, but they are both lovely.

I prefer Ariana, but both are nice.

Rosanna reminds me of that maid in 'The Moonstone'.

Tearinghairout-was hoping more for a Welsh thought when people heared Ariana haha...! Don't really 'do' shortening/nicknames so either would be used as a full name if that makes sence???

They are both gorgeous names. It all depends which goes better with your last name. Rosanna is my favorite though Ariana is beautiful too. Good Luck

Rosanna is lovely, and it makes me think of the Chris De Burgh song 'For Rosanna' which although I know is sappy but it's such a sweet song to a baby.

could you not wait and see which she looks more like?

Both gorgeous, but Rosanna wins for me.

Rosanna. Very pretty and has nice 'shortenings' eg. Rosie, Anna, Rosa.

shoobidoo · 22/10/2009 21:49

Both beautiful! Does one go better with your last name?

Another vote for Rosanna.

Rosanna was on my list if we'd had a girl but was thinking of Rosina as my Grandma is Lily Rosina (well ahead of her time obvioulsy)

I like Ariana but think it might be odd on a British child. Assuming you are British, that is.
